Interesting prediction from Mr. Shore, women tending towards traditional male attire. maybe not in 10 years, but eventually women in pants suits and jeans and lots of other attire.
Yes, but even within that decade of the 1920s, women's high fashion absolutely adopted more masculine silhouettes... women wore binders on their breasts even with some fashions, as the goal was to look flat chested and more narrow of hip. And of course, bobbed haircuts got big. A lot of the tailoring and finishes were made to reflect what had traditionally been used for men's suiting. Mr. Shore was right well within his ten years.
Coue was Émile Coué, a French pioneer of “optimistic autosuggestion,” and whose mantra was “Every day, in every way, I’m getting better and better.“

I feel like the definition of a happy marriage may have changed somewhat since then
Latter, 100%
You don't drop Shakespeare here without noticing how the stereotypes of the time were very different, but no less vulnerable to satire. And, presumably, you don't make a career of being a chauffeur without getting a few looks under the public face of the world either.
Dauble likely protests the question itself.
While he was ultimately wrong over the VERY long term, I don’t disagree with his reasoning.
I share his very thoughts today for many things. Traditional roles are what they are for a reason. Society may want to sway them, but in the long term roles will return back to what they are for one simple reason.
They work.
A baker bakes bread and wears a white coat and is good with his hands. You wouldn’t ask him to build a house or create iron nails.
I say this as a stay-at-home dad who sews and cooks. I know I’m an outlier. If society went to shit, though, I’d either be treasured or would die in a ditch.
Whose traditions? Different cultures "traditionally" define gender roles differently. It's not just "society wanting to sway" gender roles. Although, these "traditional" gender roles you reference saw women abused for millenia and they still are today. So forgive the fuck out of women for wanting to change the status quo.
Also, I can't even begin to remedy the cognitive dissonance that exists in your mind to claim that gender roles "work" and will always be when your own family unit doesnt conform to those roles...
A baker is a profession that a person chooses and has objective best practices. A person's sex is not a choice and there is not an objective "best practice" on how to be a male or female. Your analogy fails abysmally.
If society went to shit, you would die in a ditch lmao what are you saying? Your a male with few appreciable skills. Quality stitching and cooking are luxuries in an apocalypse scenario, not a requirement. How do you think you'd be treasured? The women would only want you if you were absurdly handsome...which is enough of a reason to make jealous men murder you...so, you're probably fucked.
But again, not the point, you're literally a stay at home dad. Does it not "work"? If it does, then what is the value in conforming to "traditional" gender roles? You need professional help, my guy.
This is so interesting cuz I don’t tend to think about there being a lick of difference between 1923 and 1933. Though if you asked me to predict life 10 years from now I certainly expect to see significant difference. Interesting
The difference between 2023 and 2033 will be significantly greater than the difference between 1923 and 1933, because of the exponential rate at which technology is advancing
That's so interesting to think about, because I don't feel like 2023 is *exponentially* different from 2013, as much as 2013 vs. 2003, or '03 vs. '93. But maybe that's just recency bias.
In 2013, we also had Reddit, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, streaming services, iphones, digital cameras, etc. I'm trying to think of the major technological differences between the two decades (maybe AI, but we're still in its relative nascence).
There was no Tiktok or Onlyfans, but I don't know if that means anything.
Socially a few things might have changed that we can't see as well since we were part of it.
Things changed exponentially in research! Way more tech in genetics and cancer research from 2013 to 2023 - transcriptomics and proteomics has developed by leaps and bounds
Probably depends a lot on our age as well. In my brain 2003-2013 feels wildly different to me because I went from a 3rd grader to a graduate. But then graduation to now doesn’t feel as noticeably different at all
it is absolutely crazy how 100 years ago i probably wouldn't be in college right now working my booty off but in someones kitchen making them spaghetti
I kind of want to write back to Saul Shore from the future to let him know that, no, women and men aren't all wearing unitards and jumpsuits despite what sci-fi writers wanted us to believe and there is still enough differences between men's and women's clothing that there remain two different sections in department stores for them to shop in. But advances in fabrics and changes in styles have freed us all from wearing hats and having to figure out what to do with them, and we don't need to layer up so much, and shoes are much more comfortable and so much less expensive that most of us no longer think of repairing them. Hair in general is a lot simpler to maintain and the expectation that women spend 2 hours per day getting their hair ready for the day and another hour per night getting it ready for bed is very passe.

Someday they may even get functional pockets.
Not even 100 years later…
Saul Shore is a real homie.
For shore
Ugh

It was Inspector Dreyfus’ mantra, too although it didn’t quite manifest how he hoped 🥲
Maybe If i keep trying my face will get prettier!! 😊
Oh, Margaret 😒
I bet she was happily married.
Her response reminded me a lot of my grandmother who i believe is/was happily married. I feel like the definition of a happy marriage may have changed somewhat since then
It has gone to shit now, there are no morals!
This is the final straw Medina. Im getting a divorce.
Saul called it
Would you say Saul made the better call?
Better Call was Saul’s
Ok this one was good
If only saul could saul us now, 100 years later.
Saul Shore was spot on 👌🏼
Simp
I wonder if there's any link between Saul's perspicaciousness and his jaunty hat?
Eugene Dauble was either an idiot devoid of nuance, or was masterfully avoiding answering the question. Not sure which.
He doesn't Dauble in such trivial conversation.

He was dead-on when he said that a decade isn't long enough to see fundamental change.

Mrs Baer teaches all how to be colossally wrong
Jesus Christ there’s sooo much to unpack here with every single quote. I love it!!
Shut the fuck up, Margaret

Baer and Hirsch need to get a room
Mr. Hirsch bringing them incel vibes.
Not sure if that was what they were really asking about, Mr. Hirsch
Don’t you know that we women only exist to worry about our looks? /s
He didn't say/imply all that
But he was half right, good hygiene and health doesn't stick to one gender tho.
Mrs. Esther knew what was up.
Esther is mother fr

Dauble nailed it.
This dude for sure drank radium.
Which dude?
exactly
Margaret, no.

So basically the answers we would get today
Thank goodness the last two were wrong
Hugene makes sense
Have you seen this man?

أطفالي بخير والحمد لله. أتمنى أن تكون أنت وعائلتك بأمان وبصحة جيدة أيضًا.
