They released a new separate play area with missions a few months ago, set in New Jersey (?). Farther back they've released a nuka world fair, and even further back they released the BOS dlc. Honestly I might've glossed over an update or two, because I took an extended break myself.
Yes it’s really good, I recommend having a friend to play with you to make some objectives easier, otherwise on your own it’s like 40-50 hours of content with “real npcs” roaming about. If you’re on PC I can lend a hand.
I do a thing in GTA5 where I pick one unlucky pedestrian and do the jump-pratfall thing to knock them over repeatedly. I just do it over and over, chasing them down when they run, several dozen times until the chip damage kills them. Takes upward of five minutes but well worth the effort. It doesn't get you any stars and if anything it feels more psychotic than gunning them down
