Did you perhaps open the news in the past 2 years and see a Russian tank? There's a 98% chance that it has a huge ass Z painted on it
Edit - to clarify, Russians used a couple more different markings at the start of the war (V, O, or the old Z inside of a square), but all but the basic Z were dropped by mid 2022
And what does the Z stand for???
Edit: also if they actively take pride in the z, why is this user so annoyed at the hypothetical transfemme for using it?
Assuming you're not russian "заебали суки" means pretty much "(these) bitches (have) annoyed me to fuck/(have) fucking annoyed me"
(There isn't a direct translation of "заебали" because despite the core word "ебать" having a direct one-to-one equivalent in English, namely "fuck", and fuck having a past tense - similar to "ебали", which is also in past tense - English does not account for case and prepositions, of which за, and its usage, is an example. Yes, I'm a diagnosed autist, why do you ask?)
Oh boy, I don't know why everyone is being so dense to you.
Russia invaded Ukraine in February of 2022. They had three operational directions, North, West, and South. Their tanks were marked with letters to indicate which direction they were going. The western tanks were marked with Z - these tanks were the most prevalent in the media since that was the direction targeting Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. Ukrainians started referring to Russians and Ruzzians as a way to indicate the barbarity of the war (and as a way to just generally annoy them). Go to any pro-Ukraine subreddit and you'll see Russia almost exclusively spelled with a Z. It's also become a way for some Russians (especially those who live outside the country) as a way to indicate that they are not pro-Russia.
The joke here is that nearly every trans-femme leans to the left and are broadly critical of the war.
so the latin "Z" isnt in the cyrillic alphabet, and they most likely paint the gigantic Zs on their shit to avoid friendly fire (russia and ukraine have a lot of the same gear in some cases)
The other comments aren’t true, the letter Z is the only letter present in Russian but not Ukrainian, and Russian nationalists like to use the letter Z as something innately special that makes Russians better than Ukrainians.
Imagine if Spanish speakers all started doing this with Ñ. That’s about how it feels.
> Edit: also if they actively take pride in the z, why is this user so annoyed at the hypothetical transfemme for using it?
The translation to english took creative liberties with the word there, altering the meaning a bit. The original commenter was not upset at "ruzzia" but at "рашка" (rashka), which doesn't involve the Z at all and is just a different dismissive way to butcher the name of this fucking country.
Because saying "ruzzia" is mocking russians for using "z". So despite the similarity, it kinda means the opposite. Also OP took some liberties in translation, OOP didn't actually say "ruzzia"
the comments are mostly boringly supportive to the video (which is, surprisingly to me at least, made by a trans woman and explains that its not "gay")
me omw to convince Russian nationalists that homophobia is an Anglo-Saxon ideology that was forcefully injected into their mentality to cause infighting within the nation
i mean look up muscovite Russia it was hella gay, those are the traditional family values i'd be going for
It's a diminutive form of "Russia", that is grammatically similar to how words that end with "sha" sound like when used in a diminutive form. Here's an example of how some names have that whole "Ashka" thing at the end:
Pasha - Pashka
Masha - Mashka
Sasha - Sashka
When it comes to names, it's used as a slightly more vulgar version of the original name. Like when talking to a friend or a child.
When it comes to Russia - Rashka it's essentially a way to say that you don't respect the country without saying it out loud.
The commenter here is saying that he would date trans women if they were more patriotic and didn't show signs of disrespect to the country that wants to exterminate or jail them.
The frequency illusion (also known as the Baader–Meinhof phenomenon) is a cognitive bias in which a person notices a specific concept, word, or product more frequently after recently becoming aware of it.
The name "Baader–Meinhof phenomenon" was coined in 1994 by Terry Mullen in a letter to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.[1] The letter describes how, after mentioning the name of the German terrorist group Baader–Meinhof once, he kept noticing it. This led to other readers sharing their own experiences of the phenomenon, leading it to gain recognition. It was not until 2005, when Stanford linguistics professor Arnold Zwicky wrote about this effect on his blog, that the name "frequency illusion" was coined.[2] (source, Wikipedia lol.)

the nationalism overwhelmed the chaser instincts
As a ruzzian trans, I can agree that I physically cannot spell Ruzzia normally :c
Why is it spelled with a z? /gen, like ik why, but why *specifically* a z?

It should mean Zapad (West). That's the direction of the units which used the marking
But in reality it came to mean something like заебали суки
huh?!

Thanks, but why not just say that instead of being a dick in your first comment
Because you are not allowed to exist outside of the internet and must know everything. Straighten yourself out

By your logic all the tanks and propaganda posters should have a giant Ы
I'm not sure if you're joking or not, but it's not true

Ah thanks!
it kinda works like swastika now, russian fascists use it as symbol of war
They paint Z/O/Vs on their military equipment in Ukraine and Z especially is a symbol of the invasion
The og comment doesn't actually spell it with z, it uses russian equivalent to "murica"
Isn't it because of the Zs that Putin's forces would put on everything? As far as I know the origin is unknown

It didn’t, i just made the comment to bring more awareness to the issues at hand🗣️🔥
The translation uses “Ruzzia” in place of the Russian text’s “Rashka”. I know where ruzzia comes from can someone explain rashka?
It's a diminutive form of "Russia", that is grammatically similar to how words that end with "sha" sound like when used in a diminutive form. It feels like ever since I started learning russian properly I've seen so many more cyrillic posts
