As a 31 year old that’s played off/on since classic, I’m struggling to get a firecape. (I have 15+, the 3 capes after that, and the inferno equiv. On rs3) the 15+ firecapes were all RS2 days.
Not sure what happened but I lost my mojo 😂 have 1.3b bank on osrs, 1730ish total, 101CB.

I bought 12m on RuneScape 2 way back in the day, before EOC. When people still PK’ed north of varrock chapel, pre-Wildy ditch. Luckily I was on a fresh alt and it was permanently banned within hours of purchase. Never touched that shit again. I did buy bonds once, officially. But it was like $15-20 worth and they barely sold for anything compared to now.
That's about what my bank was at that level but I was also an 1850 max med so slightly different story when you're trying to minimize cbt haha. I also added it up and since loot keys came out, I've pked over 1bil. I died a lot too obviously so it's probably closer to 500-600m profit from pking

If I’m being honest, I really hate that it takes an hour just to get to the Jad fight, for it to either go really well, or really poorly within seconds.
I think I just got old, honestly. Used to be able to do this blindfolded when I was a teenager. (Not literally, but ya know what I mean)

Not gonna pretend I'm anywhere near as good as a streamer and also not going to pretend that my hands aren't worse than my early 20's, but the "Old man hands" isn't as big of a thing in Osrs as in other games.
For reference, there's literally a dude who can't use his hands with an Inf cape and Blorva. u/MyHandsDontWork on reddit, Myhndsdntwrk ingame.
All of that to say, obviously as far as commitment to the game and/or desire for something is individual to you. But if you're actually thinking "I really want the cape and am willing to grind enough to get it, but I think I'm too old to have the clicks", you're not. It's definitely the easiest it's ever been to get, and short of a health issue where your joints don't work, you can click well enough. Or don't need your hands at all, as Myhndsdntwrk has shown.
You’re absolutely right. I use my age as a scapegoat if I’m being honest. Divorced, with 3 kids (live in girlfriend has two of her own.) back in the day I’d rush home after school and I’d be able to play for 4-12 hours a day. I quit for a long, long time, so I’m just rusty and out of the loop now.
Yeah, I mean that's fair. I take long ass breaks, and even when actively playing no one would ever call me top tier at this game. And my inf cape wasn't fast, I had to learn a lot and it took a while.
Hell, right now I'm putting off colosseum while afk fishing and reading shit on the Internet. Why? Let others figure out all the tips and tricks then I'll beat my head against the wall once it's standardized.
But as far as doing CoX, ToA, ToB, Inferno, etc, you dont need to be Woox to do it. Sure Woox does it cleaner, faster, etc, but a cape is a cape.
Reddit/Twitter/streamers would have you think everyone doing CoX is "if it's not a sub-19 3+12, I cbf to even play with you." There are plenty of people doing casual, chill, 25 minute trio's who don't really care if you mess up a bit. They're just not as toxic and loud, and can take a bit more looking to find.
And even the sweats aren't all as sweaty as you'd think. My casual 400 ToA buddy who carries when I plank is a Zuk helm, max cape, chill dude. I'll never come close to a Zuk helm, I cbf to do all that.
Nah I get it, when I got mine Jad healed back to full because I didn’t kill the healers and then had to do a second round of healers hahah got lucky and tanked a Jad hit before securing the kill. What helped me was doing like one activity at a time. So Jad attacks, check prayer then attack healer, then wait for next prayer check
I just feel like a schmuck walking around with a prayer cape/legends/obsidian, while I’m wearing full arma/ancestral/bandos, with rapier/DHL/ACB/avernic, all the prayers unlocked, etc 😂
My nerves get to me every time..
If you're the kind of person whose nerves make them choke. Press the logout button on wave 61 (NOT WAVE 62), make yourself a cup of tea, do some washing up, just do something else for 15 minutes and then come back so your stomach can settle. Just make sure you don't do it at the end of 62 as you need to see where the gold mager spawns for Jad.
Go back into the quests, reselect beneath cursed sands and it resets everything including the tele timer.
Doing the speedrun practice helped me a lot, so it's worth the extra grind to get comfy with the harder version of Jad.
I tried this and died and I was sent back to lumby. Another commenter said you can just reload the quest and get replenished/group teleport is reset. I wasn’t aware of that. I died and gave up. 😂gonna full-send some practices on the speed run world tonight :)
seems like a mindset kinda thing, are you doing it on task? because that usually gives me a good feeling right from the get go.
(and yes, you can get jad tasks without having killed him once, it's only different for inferno)
if only your max hit was 1 lower you could have died a tick earlier and maybe saved some humiliation on your last attempt, but perhaps it was what you needed

What are you struggling with in the fight caves specifically? Nerves on Jad or the waves itself?

Deep breathes help, you could always go to a beta world and practice or there’s simulators
I tried the speed run world and died ☠️ and it sent me to lumby and I couldn’t use the group teleport to get back to the caves so I gave up 😂

You know you can practice jad without any waves? You choose a speedrun quest and then talk to the npc to practice on him.

Yeah easy to retry. He is technically the harder version from inferno but if you can beat him you certainly can beat the easy version
