I use the Insta360 X4 to fill myself at the skate park. I will set it up in a spot and cruise around it. Makes it look like somebody is filming me. I love it. Some tricks take quite a while so I prefer to just set the X4 up instead of trying to convince a friend to film me for an hour haha. When I post on instagram you can’t tell that it’s not some video from an iPhone. Here is an example https://www.instagram.com/reel/C7mErxxxQsf/?igsh=MmVwdTE0aXBmOXBr

That’s some damn good editing!

koolbi1

Thanks! It’s pretty fun to make!

koolbi1

You can just use the X4 as an action cam that is chest mounted if you want by setting it to be in that mode and it does pretty well but that’s not really what it’s made for so it’s not as performant as a GoPro might be for that use case.

It's this the Follow Me mode or it's 360 then you use the tracking feature from Studio?

koolbi1

I typically film everything in 360 at 8k 30fps and edit it after just on my phone to track me and trim down the clip.

Bridgebrain

I really like the warpy effects, but as far as an action cam replacement, the only real benefit is reframe after post, or full area capture (if there happens to be something interesting in front and behind you). Its not the best for most people, no

Familienerinnerungen

What do you mean by warpy effects?

Bridgebrain

The simple ones are tiny planet and big tunnel, which are pretty popular, but you can get a lot of intense perspective shifts going pretty easily. On top of that, if you take the image and shift it to be unbalanced intentionally, you can get a lot of weirdness in. You can also loop left to right so have duplicate spaces as a continuous image, which works great if you can get the same shot in with multiple configurations (such as the people switching around). Lots of wacky possibilities, but that has to be the aesthetic you're going for

Familienerinnerungen

What is big tunnel warp?

Independent_Sink_961

If you cycle, ski or skate I’d say a 360 camera is almost a must. It’s not bad too for life with kids. Quality is much better on most modern action cameras but if you are posting on instagram then you may not notice the difference

JayEll1969

Which would you prefer to have to concentrate on doing something or making sure the camera is pointing in the right direction? That's what 360-degree videos are like - you can concentrate on riding the bike, surfing, cutting the grass without worrying if it's centred up in the camera. Who cares if you don't use the rest of the shot. What you do get is the shot. If something interesting happens around you, you have that shot as well.

CountingStars29

Negative, the quality is crap compared to GoPro. And, what everyone fails to mention, it is a bitch to edit.

Familienerinnerungen

Interesting
