Yes newer games look photorealistic at times but the PS3 and 360 era of gaming was gold with beautiful games like oblivion, army of two, mortal Kombat 9, street fighter X Tekken/SSFIVAE, Tekken tag tournament 2, lost odyssey, blue dragon, condemned, crisis 2 and 3, halo 3,4,odst, wars, gtav, the Witcher 2, gears of war, crackdown, mass effect, dead space....I could go on.
I love my 360, always have, always will.
I'm with you mate, I got a free 50" 2011 Panasonic plasma last year and fired Forza Horizon 2 up, looked pretty great at 720p, only thing that let me down was a bit of pop in and slightly dodgy shadows when I was looking for them. Amazing how well the devs optimised the games in the 360s twilight yearsĀ
I have an S at my house and an X at my apartment. Iām thinking if I donāt have the ability to put a disc in. Then Iām screwed the next 2-3 months until I go back out that way for work, and can use my X.
As weird as it might sound I tend to play more games from that generation than the new generation. Less lighting effects and visual eye candy. I can actually see what's going on in the game.
It is actually so weird. I remember games from that era trying to pack as much visual eye candy as possible, however somehow it is not as bad as it is today.
Nostalgia aside, I despise the piss filter from that era. GTA4, RE5 and many more games had it. Still better than excessive visual effects imo
Now, set game to 720p,minimum settings and lock it to 30fps if you play on PC. That's the difference. Resolution, lighting and higher fps. And vice versa. Upscale any xbox 360 game to 4k with some anti alliasing. Will look like modern game
Depends on the screen you play too. My x360 is connected to 720p plasma so it look as good as back in the days. When I try to play it on 4k TV or even 1440p monitor it's not as sharp anymore
I have a Toshiba 4K tv from around 2020-2022. I hooked up my 360 after years of not playing it and booted up Halo 4. damn that first mission in the space thingy looked awesome. I was expecting gta 4 graphics, laggy etc.

You can get some more out of the PS3 with an overclock, though for multiplatform titles the 360 typically still performs better. Personally I also vastly prefer the Xbox controller layout.

The jump from 480p to 720/1080p was the biggest fidelity leap we've ever really seen in one generation. Ps3 and 360 will continue to look good for the foreseeable future
The leap from OG Xbox from 360 was huge graphically. Way more than from say PS1 to PS2.
I remember seeing fight night for the first time and gears of war. The graphics were insane for the time.

Fable 2 looks better than plenty of modern games in 4k on the series x
Need for speed most wanted 2012, while being an OK game, had graphics that could easily be taken for an Xbox one game
