Make sure the belt is tight. I thought my compressor was shot and when I put new belts on my AC started working fine. Blowing ice cold. Just something else to consider
Its definitely partially engaged- one part being the engaged pulley, the other, being the rest of the compressor and it doesn’t sound good - Napa sells a gauge you can hook up, pretty easy to check standing pressure, autozone might rent one.. you could try to recharge it yourself too, but compressor is like 300 to 500 with a core 90 - 150.
Mine makes the exact same noise. It's loud, like very loud. I was going to check the condensers oil to see if it's empty. Other than that it's possibly just shot.
