I use kids sunscreen lol Everything hurts

Morecowbellthistime

Same here! I use Eucerin kids 50. Anthelios and Elta both let me down, as the first gave me horrible breakouts and the second let me burn.

Peepers54

Me too! Blue Lizard Baby SPF 50.

Smiles_Sunshine

That’s really smart! & :( sorry about the general irritation

Educational-Yam-682

I have to mix my tinted sunscreen with white sunscreen because it’s so dark on my face. I feel your pain

After-Leopard

I have cancer council from Australia and it’s very nice. They have a face and body version. It feels nice and I figure they know sunscreen

Few_Secret_7162

Anything spray. It just doesn’t work for me and no matter the brand it smells and eventually gets into my eyes.

AsilHey

Yes. I bought some sprays to use for reapplications. They feel not-so-great and I’m not convinced they give enough coverage.

LieutenantStar2

Statistically, they don’t. People don’t apply enough, and what they do apply is usually uneven. (I used to work for a company that makes the active ingredients in UV filters). Sprays are a gimmick.

IceCreamMan1977

And people also breathe it in, especially kids

Due_Sprinkles1421

Most sprays are meant to be sprayed in the hands and then patted on the face to apply. (This usually defeats the purpose of the spray being more convenient than lotions though) and I think most people buy the spray so they don't have to touch their face when reapplying outside/away from home.

Icy_Tiger_3298

Spray sunscreen makes me greasy until I shower. I can't lean on anything or sit on furniture with spray sunscreen on.

kckittykate

Anything spray forms rivulets down my back unless I rub it in a ton, which defeats the purpose! Have to be Gumby to survive the sun.

Haveyounodecorum

P20 and p50 Melanoma survivor here. incredible stuff and designed for the palest people on earth.

Smiles_Sunshine

I’m sorry for ignorance, what brand or pharma is the producer so I can find?

DiabolicalBurlesque

https://www.p20.com/

Smidgeon10

What a helpful website, thanks!

Haveyounodecorum

Thank you so much for sharing the gospel as it took me a while to get back to this comment. I really can’t recommend it enough. I’ve been using it since I was a teenager. They also now have P 50.

luckygirl721

Are you in the US? Where do you purchase?

Haveyounodecorum

Hello, I’m so sorry that it took me a while to come back to this comment but it’s actually available on Amazon now. And it’s not a copy it’s the real deal there’s no re sellers. I used to only be able to buy it at Heathrow airport on the way from the UK to the US!

Letijay

I love this stuff! We bought this once on vacation, and I just ante-ed up to order from Europe. Perfect for days at the swim club with the kids. I bought the kids and sensitive versions and prefer the sensitive version, which I can I can even on my face without irritation (usually I only use mineral there). I ordered from the site Cloud 10. It shipped from Ireland and arrived in about a week.

Haveyounodecorum

Oh my gosh, I’m so glad that someone else has heard of it in the states

ChristineBorus

I think Asian beauty has the best stuff. Check out Beauty of Joseon. They drop ship DHL to the US. It’s a South Korean brand

Smiles_Sunshine

Thank you! My first Korean sunscreens were joseon, is tree & skin 1004 ❤️ of the 4, joseon is probably the most elegant to spread and absorb, skin1004 is most elegant dispenser, love that one too. I have 2 others in rotation now for when I stay indoors at home https://preview.redd.it/cavxhi3ka27d1.jpeg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f0e054bbdca7eb6e26474cd551910a8ebae90e68 If you like joseon, I recommend both. But the one on right is more comparable

DeeLite04

I’ve heard the around Lab birch juice sunscreen is amazing. I actually have a bottle I got in NYC in March but haven’t used yet. Trying to finish my BOJ one which is my current favorite. I’ve also used the Neutrogena Invisible Daily Defense spray sunscreen to reapply. When I’m out running or walking I have to admit I use whatever sunscreen I have that sweat proof and wear a visor and shades. I see so many people on running and walking trails who never use hats or things to cover their face.

Wolfwoods_Sister

Yeah, I still have to cover up too. I always keep a hoodie and jean jacket in my car when the sun is intense. My sister bought garden sleeves that have an SPF of 50 and use nothing but recycled plastic bottles. You can wear a T-shirt for coolness and use these long sleeves up your arms! They’re pretty much scratch/snag proof as well so they might come in handy when camping or on a trail.

DeeLite04

Smart idea! I know many Asian older women have been wearing those arm sleeves or gloves for years to protect themselves. I’m Asian but I’m not quite old enough to go full ajumma yet 😂

Wolfwoods_Sister

Hahaha, I’ve seen an Asian friend in Seattle wearing one of those sunshade full-face visors! She said it’s great when you don’t want to put sunscreen on for various reasons. She says no one ever comments on it and she’s seen other Asian ladies wearing them too! As a pale ass person with sensitive skin, I may just break down and try one!

DeeLite04

I think we eventually may all break down and wear one! 😂

OdeToBillieJo

This might be a stupid question, but are you supposed to use sunscreen indoors while you’re at home? I know light comes in your house so maybe there is UV also? Thanks so much.

Smiles_Sunshine

I do wear sunscreen indoors, my downstairs. Is floor to ceiling two level high full wall of southern exposure windows w modest western windows on that side. I raise an army of exotic indoor plants so it’s perfect for them and pretty aggressive light so I am careful.

Dependent-on-Zipps

The Paula’s Choice Resist SuperLight is the one I keep going back to. I have to use mineral on my face, neck, and chest. And while this one dries down really matte and I have dry skin, I just load up on good moisturizers underneath. I like that it’s slightly tinted and it doubles as a primer for me. My makeup stays perfect for 12+ hours.

embalees

If they ever stop making this I might literally die.

Wolfwoods_Sister

Tysm for explaining how you use it under makeup. I have to use mineral-based sunscreen too — I react to chemical sun blockers. I usually buy foundation with mineral sunscreen in it but have wondered if it was doing its job well enough.

sleepydabmom

Sounds like what I use- Bare Minerals spf tinted primer

nah_champa_967

Asian sunscreens are great! I didn't wear sunscreen on my face bc I hate the feeling. Then my daughter got sunscreen one from Korea. They're really light. Bioré sells something similar which you can find on Amazon.

NYParis

Co-sign on Korean sunscreens. I have Beauty of Joseon and it applies light with no greasiness.

Temporary_Year_7599

I am anxiously awaiting delivery of the BoJ Rice something relief. I'm hoping it's a good choice for under makeup. I had Coola from a FabFitFun box and absolutley hate it, it's like an oil slick on my face and \*never\* dries enough for makeup to not slide right off!

[deleted]

They’re cosmetically elegant but do not offer the best protection if you live in a high UV area. I don’t trust them unless I’m indoors all day. Many have no water/sweat resistance either. I live in Florida and I use LRP or Eucerin on my face and Hawaiian Tropic on my body. I don’t trust LRP in water applications either, too thin.

Asuldify

Biore Aqua UV? It's my favorite.

ievaluna

Love the texture but hate the alcohol scent.

[deleted]

Smiles_Sunshine

Agree w prove considerations because 1.7 oz at the influential dermatologist recommendations is one month supply at best So What do you use?

Smiles_Sunshine

I need to get on the bondi train! Never tried xx

EconomicsStatus254

La Roche Posay has a good one. I prefer unstinted. Just also bought Ultra Violette SPF 50 and love it. Soaks in so quickly and no residue.

Smiles_Sunshine

I realized I prefer untinted as well. My options seem more diverse and elegant xx

pseudonymphh

Good Lord, could you please stop saying elegant? It’s the most overrated buzzword in the sub.

Dobeythedogg

Nutrigena Hydro Blast for my face— good moisturizer, SPF 50, no real white cast, and only a mild smell that quickly dissipates. I use whatever on my body. Banana Boat Sport, I think. Really dislike Super Goop (pilled into little balls when I was sweating) and it made me break out .

Due_Sprinkles1421

Sunscreen in the US is notorious for being low quality because we haven't kept up with the new science for Sunscreen filters. It can be a pain but I would suggest finding people with a similar skin type and skin tone as you and checking out their recommendations. Then you can order sunscreens online from other countries that have better sunscreen if needed. What works for one person can be a no for another person. For example if you have more melanin in your skin or are prone to hyperpigmentation (dark marks) a tinted sunscreen is going to be a bigger priority for you ( than avoiding burning) and you will want to find the right tint. If you have oily skin your gonna want to find the rare mattifying sunscreens out there. If you are outside or sweat a lot a water resistant sunscreen, etc. YouTube has a lot of dermatologists and people under the science umbrella that try out a bunch of sunscreens so you don't have to and give you recommendations and feedback on their quality so this may be a good place to start.

tikertot

So true about the US sunscreens. I stock up on LaRoche whenever I go to the UK.

idontcomehereoften12

I used Ultra Sun on a 9-day cruise through the West Indies. It did not clog my pores (an issue for me) nor feel heavy on my skin (also an issue for me). I have very fair skin and I did not tan! Agreed that other countries have much better sunscreen and without a lot of the harmful chemicals found in US sunscreen.

HelloTittie55

I started using Banana Boat Baby SPF 50 sunscreen stick as an eye primer on undereyes and lids and loved the results so much that I now swipe the cute stick all over my entire face. It’s clear, odorless, and smoother than the Trader Joe’s daily sunscreen 45 SPF, my other go-to. For the body, Bondi Sands makes an excellent, non-greasy, easily-absorbed product. Their face and body sunscreens in white tubes appear to have identical ingredients, so you can use the body one on face, too; it’s cheaper than the face one. All these products have no detectable smell. And no eye irritation!

Novel-Lengthiness838

I like EltaMd.

Shern7619vt

I use Australian Gold Botanical Tinted Face Sunscreen - it’s pretty thick and matte, but it works for me - and isn’t expensive.  I used DRMTLGY last year and liked it okay - bought it recently and it gave me a rash on my neck -

banana_snatcher

Australian Gold was SO drying for me. Also fairly orange on my fair skin.

coquitwo

I’m an Australian Gold Tinted Mineral SPF 50 lady when I want a matte finish and a CeraVe Hydrating Tinted Mineral SPF 30 when I want dewy. Natural (brand) mineral SPF 30 (I use the body one and it’s fine, doesn’t leave a cast on me once it settles in, and it comes in a much larger tube) for my neck and chest so tinted SPF doesn’t get on my clothes, or just all over on days I don’t want tinted. I’ve actually taken to using the AG-tinted mineral at night on the rare occasions I wear makeup out because it makes my skin look just as good if not better than any makeup I’ve ever used (high end or drugstore). I have a medium skin tone, slight tan in the summer even with SPF 50 every 1.5-2 hours, and have type 1 rosacea, so chemical sunscreens are not it for me. I like the tints because they even out my redness so well. I know tints look orangey on some folks, especially very light skin, but for me it’s the perfect color corrector for my rosacea redness; nothing green has ever done anything for my redness except make it look like I’m wearing bad makeup. In the winter I mix the AG light and medium-tan shades and in summer I just use the medium-tan alone. One thing I learned quickly—the LRP *tinted* mineral sunscreen IS NOT just mineral (I can’t speak for the untinted mineral one because I’ve never used it or looked at the ingredients). Its “patented Cell-Ox Shield” that is noted on the packaging is a fancy way of referring to the fact that they used some of the traditional chemical filters that are FDA cleared in the U.S., mixed in some other chemicals (that smell horrible and sting my eyes), got a patent on the ingredients and ratios thereof, and called it “Cell-Ox.” So misleading! There are a couple of pharmacy websites that discuss it. I was wondering for the longest time how they could claim it is “broad spectrum” and blocks both UVB *and* UVA rays when it’s only active ingredient mineral is titanium dioxide (with a small amount of iron oxides way down the ingredient list, because they are used for the tint). I now have 2 unopened bottles I can’t use because I bought into the LRP Anthelios hype without trying it myself and bought 3 bottles of it because it was on super sale.

deathbypumpkinspice

I use the non-tinted Elta MDs. I like the 46 and 40.

xxxspinxxx

I heard a lot of good things about CeraVe tinted, but it turned brownish orange on me. I looked like a Jersey Shore cast member.

legbamel

I love the CeraVe sheer. It soaks in quickly and doesn't leave mineral cast like the Blue Lizard I was using. I broke out terribly with Paula's Choice.

Street_Telephone3733

https://preview.redd.it/vkdoq0obs17d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1e8c51d565e5984360b717434c7fa928d13a28e4 This is scentless and light. Perfect for your face

Smiles_Sunshine

I’ll look it up! Never read up about this kscreen xx

Comprehensive-Fix983

I use (and love) the SkinCeuticals tinted mineral sunscreen. It truly does even out my skin tone, and while it’s expensive, a little goes a long way. The larger 125 ml bottle lasts me literally a year of 1x daily application!

tweak-the-universe

Same. The tint is a little too dark for my fair complexion and every now and again I decide to try new stuff to see whether I can find a better color match, but I always end up coming back to Skinceuticals and just deal with it.

nowhere_or_quiznos

Yep, I love this so much! I stopped wearing foundation, it evens my tone so much.

Consistent_Effort716

Try out baby subscreen! I love Hello Bello mineral sunscreen. It's what Kristen Bell uses and I swear she doesn't age. Just don't get it in your eyes.

awokensoil

I like hello bello too but it always seems to take a minute to rub in and sometimes feels like it's drying my skin out. I guess I'd rather have that than sun burn tho!!

Drycabin1

Okay I know this is the opposite but I have to put it out there since I delayed buying it due to price but I love the Colorescience flex sunblock. It really works and offers light coverage. Worth the money .

Blunomore

100 000% La Roche Posay Anthelios

RockingInTheCLE

I just use Sun Bum's facial sunscreen with SPF 50. Doesn't bother my face at all. I use a primer over it, and then my foundation and a setting spray and I'm good.

vintage_seaturtle

I use Hawaiian Tropic Weightless Hydration Face Lotion, I love it. I use Neutrogena Beach defense for my body. Only one besides the sheer I don’t feel sticky after applying.

klynn1220

ISDIN!!!! My love!! 100% It doesn't pill or take off other products. My derm recommended it years ago! https://preview.redd.it/elkexexw927d1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=458dd67f81e5e3de82c5e1d26850ebbe442f538e

No_Claim2359

The price of this stuff is outrageous. I don’t see how people wear as much sunscreen as recommended at these prices.

klynn1220

Well, I wear it every day. You barely need any. A bottle lasts me so long. I rarely have to buy a bottle. A close decent second would be Grown Alchemist's, however, it's not drugstore brand cheap either. Idk. My fading hyperpigmentation, keeping my skins safe and in tact as long as possible, and other products on are important to me so the cost every 3-4 months for my face is worth it. My body, I use cotz mineral sunscreen or a baby mineral sunscreen.

No_Claim2359

Good for you but if a bottle lasts 3-4 months you aren’t using the recommended amount.  If you like it and it works for you, then fine but overall sunscreen is outrageously priced for something so important to public health but this one is egregious.

tikertot

💯 Most people do not use enough sunscreen to get the coverage that is recommended.

Larkspur_Skylark30

Holy moly! Just looked it up😳

lAngenoire

I love Supergoop Unseen and lipScreen, and the body oil. I use my FSA funds. It’s worth buying one you like and will wear.

Smiles_Sunshine

Thank you!!!!! I looked into isdn but I didn’t know which iteration to try ❤️

klynn1220

YW!! I love it!! You actually need a script for it in Europe!

Smiles_Sunshine

I think we. can order on Amazon. Luckily!

The_Animal_Is_Bear

Came here for this!! And also got the reco from my derm. I love it.

Asleep-Journalist-94

I’m late to this but also discovered ISDIN at the dermatologist one day when I had a procedure and forgot to bring sunscreen to reapply- they had a sample bottle out, and wow. Goes on like silk but offers medical-grade sun protection. I’ve used it ever since.

Lbohnrn

Not a sunscreen but isdin with urea is amazing. Cleared up my pilaris keratosis and is moisturizing without being heavy and occlusive.

klynn1220

Wait is that the lotion bc I have a ton of the products now and I have Sjögren's and it's been a life saver!

Lbohnrn

Yes it’s a body lotion. You can order off of Amazon.

veronicaelectronica

I second this! Not a fan of the tinted one since my skin tone clashes but this is perfection here in Hawaii

prancypantsallnight

Summer Fridays tinted or Saie slip tint over my skin1004 are great. They are sunscreens on their own though

ladyliferules

Loving this rant! But which Asian sunscreens are your YESes? Sincerely, A Confused skin1004 User Edit - saw the photo! Thank you!

StruggleSouthern4505

I wanted to love Supergoop Unseen so much, but... don't. Most sunscreen migrates into my eyes, stings, and drives me crazy. By chance I tried Banana Boat Light As Air Face SPF 50+, and so far it's my favorite. Doesn't seem to get in my eyes, or if it does, it doesn't irritate them. And although it does have a bit of scent, it's not obnoxious. Mostly though, it doesn't feel like a mask sitting on my skin.

feraltea

Supergoop unseen wasn't a good fit for me. Made me very oily and I didn't like the feel of it going on. Missha and shiseido are my favorites, with shiseido being too expensive anymore. They're both milky light and feel like nothing.

Smiles_Sunshine

You can look to biore Nivea and Asian shiseido. They are more economical. The missha version I tried was too soapy fragranced but I’m sure there are better ones xx

jonesy40

Korean are best imo. But I’ve heard great things about tower28 sunny days and I think dime wonderscreen. I use the DRMTLGY one you mentioned. I don’t mind it. It gives me a more dewy look and if too much I blot my face.

Smiles_Sunshine

I might have to revisit DRMTLGY. I was a no skincare woman til last year 53. It was one of the first I tired

jonesy40

I have the mineral one which may make a difference too.

DecisionPatient128

I love Supergoop Matte Screen. If I’m feeling glowy DRMTLGY or Kosas.

Prize_Weird2466

Shisedo for my face, Zinka for my body

VoxyPop

I like Fenty hydra vizor. It's moisturizer and sunscreen and no white cast. It's kind of a light pink It does have a light fragrance. So far no breakouts or sunburns Unseen sunscreen has melted down my forehead into my eyes multiple times. I do not like it. I prefer the TJ's dupe

EVChicinNJ

Lately I've been loving two: - Neogen Dermatology Airy Sunscreen (two bottles from Costco) - La Roche Posay Anthelios AOX DAILY 50 Sunscreen (it is a light lotion/serum) very smooth but pricy for a 1.0 oz bottle.

Smiles_Sunshine

I’ve tried the LRP lotion … it’s really awesome & elegant

Unfair_Finger5531

Agree with every single one you listed. I think eltamd is super-overrated and so is supergoop. I use skinmedica 32 spf mineral tinted sunscreen, and I think it’s woefully underrated 🫤

oldbluehair

For my face and neck the only brand that works for me is Neutrogena. I like Clear Face or Ultra Sheer. I use it as my daily moisturizer throughout the year. Everything else I use a CVS dupe. It stings on my face though.

No_Dragonfly_1894

DRMTLGY is awful. I tried it too and couldn't believe how greasy it was.

FriendlySpinach420

I personally love drmtlgy sunscreen. Their physical sunscreen is more mat than dewy. The chemical one is more shiny. However, I don't use much makeup, aside from blush and mascara. I didn't like supergoop. La Roche-Posay invisible sunscreen is also nice. Elta MD Tinted sunscreen flaked off. Didn't love.

ToteBagAffliction

I'm using LA Roche-Posay UVMune400 fluide with Elta MD tinted mineral on top. Because of genetics, medication, and location, I'm especially sun-sensitive, and this is the first combination that's actually gotten my cheek melasma to budge.

Derma2024

OMG I do this exact same thing!!

Calveeeno8

Angie Hot and Flashy is great for this. Here's one of her sunscreen testign and reviewing videos: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8\_BoeDE--1Q](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_BoeDE--1Q) She has a few videos where she tests tooons of suncreeens. She prefers mineral which I can't stand because it makes me feel like I have a tight cracky layer of clay on my face. I've tried so many. Now I am using Olay Complete SPF 40 which I like but it burns my eyes sometimes. I like Beauty of Joseon too. It's really hard to find one that doesn't suck. I had a Neutrogena one I used for years that they discontinued so I've tried maaany since.

Calveeeno8

ETA: Beauty of Joseon is the best I've tried. Olay Complete SPF 40 feels nice but the eye burning thing is getting to me.

longslowbreaths

Let’s bring back hats.

Budget-Discussion568

I work outside for a living & try to protect my skin. I've tried a lot & recently discovered Neutrogena hydro boost gel moisturizing sunscreen. It has a very light scent that fades quickly. Not greasy & doesn't burn my eye area. It also washes off nicely & leaves my face feeling smooth and hydrated instead of greasy & dry.

Outdoor_Recovery_651

i personally use korean/japanese sunscreens daily (i'll check the brands when i get home if they're different than the ones you mentioned) i use neutrogena hydroboost when im outside exercising - it doesn't hurt as much when i have to keep reapplying (the wallet)

Outdoor_Recovery_651

OP - Jungsaemmool is the one i'm currently using and would buy again (this one feels really clean and doesn't have a strong smell)

pdperson

Unscreen is probably my least favorite Supergoop product. They make much better sunscreens that that one.

Smiles_Sunshine

I currently enjoy triple prep from them and the one in the circle I used in past that was light.

pdperson

I like Play and the new Mineral Unscreen. And I liked that round one.

chronic_insomniac

Elta MD Clear does not turn orange. I’ve never used the tinted. Is that what you’re referring to?

Smiles_Sunshine

I mean the tinted … clear is good but for the price, idk if it’s my first choice.

Unfair_Finger5531

The eltamd clear tinted definitely turns orange on my skin. The clear non-tinted is even worse though because it leaves a harsh white cast on my skin. Can’t win for losing with that one 🫤

Responsible_Fly_5319

I think it's soooo orange too. Not for me anymore. When I was younger and tanned more it worked but not anymore. And the product has changed. I am now allergic to the spf 41 and I did not use to be. Also as a previous posted noted, it feels like a drying piece of clay all over my face.

Ohhh_boi-howdy

Elta MD tinted turns orange on my skin, and stains the collars on my white shirts.

Honest-Western1042

Thank you. I HATED DRMTLGY. Turned my skin into a lizard. Also CeraVe tinted moisturizer. Korean for me.

Smiles_Sunshine

Thank uuu! lol I thought I was gonna get roasted 😵‍💫 how dare anyone dislike DRMTLGY CERAVE or ELTA lol

Huge_Prompt_2056

Which ones?

luuucidity

Also find Supergoop Unseen Screen and the Trader Joe’s dupe to be overrated but good for some people like my bf who won’t use other face sunscreens. Elta MD leaves a mineral/dirt scent on my face which I can’t stand!

AsilHey

My Derm gave me Elta MD as a sample and it burned my skin like fire.

luuucidity

Oh no! That’s happened to me with a few sunscreens but they’re usually chemical SPF’s

Due_Sprinkles1421

Is it UV Clear? I suspect it's the Niacinamide in that one that burns. I know some people love Niacinamide and others have a sensitivity to it. There's a Elta MD Daily that I believe doesn't have Niacinamide in it

notmymess

I like supergoop matte, it’s tinted!

Smiles_Sunshine

I think it might have pilled w my skincare under when I tried a year ago. Will re try xx

rebeccakc47

Drmtlgy is all I use. The physical one is fantastic and I’ve never noticed a smell 🤷‍♀️

IndividualBall437

Love Paula's choice. Every time I try something else, it never compares.

Shelbelle4

I like my St Jane’s tinted sunscreen. Plus the bottle is beautiful.

HannahFisher19

I love the Italian brand Rougj

SapienWoman

I use Coola. It’s fine. My derm recommend it.

InviteAcceptable6662

My dermatologist recommended Cetaphil tinted mineral face sunscreen. I have sensitive skin/rosacea and it doesn’t irritate my skin

HalfWrong7986

I use Bondi Sands SPF for Face, all of the popular brands like Cerave and Eucerin etc etc just burned my eyes, or pilled a kid

Girlinyourphone

I love Cotz, the flawless complexion formula and the primer formula are my favorite. They have a sample pack where you can try all of their different formulations first! Idk why they dont get more love, I've used a ton of different tinted sunscreens over the last decade and they have great formulations and are reasonably priced.

Smiles_Sunshine

I’ve never heard about Cotz so thank you for giving it love.

felineinclined

All US sunscreens suck, and I'm in the US as well. Asian and Australian sunscreens are best. Skin1004 and Biore are favorites.

leonardoslady

I am really liking the oil of Olay 40 spf for sensitive skin. I put on a tiny bit of cetaphil moisturizer first then put this over it. It looks and feels great and I can apply makeup easily.

Aggravating_Bad8428

Hado Labo, you can get it on Amazon. Lightweight no smell non greasy and will not break your face out.

factchecker8515

I gave away ELTA MD. Recommended everywhere, it was expensive and I really did not like it. I don’t know WHO that tint would look good on if proper amount applied. And greasy even in my dry skin. I’m strictly Asian sunscreen now. So light and easy that wearing it everyday is simple. Western ones were never ok and I dreaded applying them to a fresh clean face because they felt so icky (for lack of a better term.)

blubblubblubber

I love Bondi Sands -- it's inexpensive, goes on nicely, and leaves a dewy finish. I'm a big fan.

sacrawflowerpower

Korean sunscreen is where it's at. Stylevanna.com to order. It takes like 3-4 weeks to get to you, but it's inexpensive and works so much better!

Smiles_Sunshine

Totally! Have you tried Japanese too? It’s actually more economical. It’s generally more runny than Korean so while feels light, doesn’t absorb as quickly

lukoshhhh

Korean brand Innisfree - what a freaking waste of money. It has glowing reviews on Amazon so I decided to try it out. Leaves a chalky, powdery residue that glues to your facial creases and is super drying. Overhyped.

Smiles_Sunshine

I haven’t tried that one & it sounds horrible!!! So sorry. The iunik I’m using now I like. It’s 2oz too so a bit more economical

Shapoopadoopie

Eucerin factor 50 gel cream is excellent (specifically the face one) and is virtually undetectable and not terribly expensive. I've cycled through dozens and this is my favorite. The body version is good too and cheap, but it didn't work for my face.

T_Mugen

I was just cursing my Revolution Invisible Sun cream today. It has chemical filters, I was extremely pleased with it until the fucking summer came. I sweat a lot and this motherfucker literally melted on my face. And yesterday got some tan, even though I had a thick layer of it all over my face. Ugh. Now I have to find another one for the summer. I mean, I have two bottles of SVR, but I will spend them in less than a month and it's a bit too pricey for two weeks long sunscreen. And I need something sweat resistant, obviously. Stupid sun, why do you have to emit UV rays?

Travel-Girl-77

You’ve probably heard this quote. The best sunscreen is the one you use every day. I personally like DRMYLGY tinted sunscreen. But I don’t wear a lot of make up over it. And then after the gym, I put on Laroche Posey 100 over whatever is left. I just avoid getting my face wet when I shower. I work from home, so honestly sometimes I dont even shower till I go to bed. I have melasma, so I’m obsessed with sun protection on my face. Big hats all the time.

JessieDeeRiver

If you're interested, Jen Phelps on YouTube is doing a series of shorts this month with a different mineral sunscreen every day, and it's been super helpful for US products. I personally stick almost exclusively to Asian sunscreens because they are exponentially more enjoyable to use, but I am interested in a few mineral sunscreens that Jen has had a positive experience with thus far.

crazyprotein

I use supergoop unseen on my face pretty much exclusively. Body - supergoop and sunbum. Smells and preferred textures are so personal! When I still bothered to wear foundation, I really liked Dr Jart line.

crazyprotein

I forgot to add that I tried Shiseido which was expensive, but it gave me a clown face

Here's my list: \*Asian Brands\* Anessa Mild Milk - go-to sunscreen Cemoy - hard to find brand, I got mine in China, lightweight and beautiful finish. Rohto's Skin Aqua Super Moisture UV Gel - very slept on but amazing. Silky and zero pilling. SPF 50 Biore Aqua Rich - alcohol smell on application but cosmetically great Beauty of Joseon - super lightweight, super easy to wear Round Lab - apparently has similar formulation as BOJ but I didn't like it as much Allie - a bit tacky but tolerable Aestura UV365 - white cast when applying but blends in well after a few minutes \*Non-Asian brands\* Ilia skin tint - sunscreen smell but great color match and leaves skin glowy. RMS - SPF 30, a bit silicone-y but no pilling and great finish Raaie - SPF 50 NZ brand with stupid packaging but silky finish Natio Sensitive Skin - feels like lotion, easy to use for body Elta MD - Nice finish, didn't turn orange on me Colorscience Powder - works well as touch up, tbh not sure how protective it is ISDN - too perfume-y for me, the scent lingers. Had to toss before finishing #

sleepydabmom

The ONLY thing I can use is the tinted primer with spf from Bare Minerals. It leaves my skin soft and not greasy. Everything else makes me look greasy.

Veritoalsol

Mineral only - all year long. Spend a lot of time in the ocean and most suncreen kills reefs (those reef free mentions are marketing bs)

Sweetcheex76

Supergoop smells terrible and the matte one allowed my face to burn in less than an hour

Prior_Thot

Tbh I use the neutrogena serum one that’s SPF 60 for my face instead of makeup because it’s a little shimmery, and Eucerin has an SPF body lotion I use (I have sensory issues stemming from autism and can’t stand the feeling of regular sunscreen on my body because it’s dry and chalky and yuck) 🤢

Admirable-Bar-3549

Anything that’s NOT Nivea water gel spf 35 - anything else stings like mad

Smiles_Sunshine

Oh that’s good to read! I just gifted to my future son in law xx

TikaPants

How do we feel about these? My derm suggested physical sunscreen and I’m annoyed. https://preview.redd.it/dof3rchxff7d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5ad124511a767d430f7eda6e8bd8544932979733

Smiles_Sunshine

Oh, I’ve never heard of this brand but there has been incredible performing mineral screens on thread . He might be suggesting non hybrid and chemical due to sensitivity?

TikaPants

I didn’t even know I have facial melasma it’s so light but she, the professional, noticed it. I’ll do whatever she suggests.

EBeewtf

I use Neutrogena sunscreens. Oil free, etc. used Supergoop for a long time and it gave me sebaceous hyperplasia. Gonna have to pay a few hundred dollars to laser off gross things that expensive af sunscreen left on my skin.

Smiles_Sunshine

That’s terrible! Isn’t it crazy how the wrong ingredients can cause so much havoc

unfilteredkate

Taking so many notes as a fair skinned girl with a newly discovered sun allergy.

Smiles_Sunshine

There is a wealth of info here for sure :) please share what you like or hate or try when you choose

Catnapcarol

I just bought isntree watery sun gel off of Amazon, and I love it. Seems legit and feels like nothing is on my skin.

Smiles_Sunshine

That one is really nice! If you like it you can next time try Japanese too! It’s more watery but super smooth and refreshing. Nivea, rhoto, vendio etc

Catnapcarol

Awesome, I’ll check those out next!

Youknowme911

I’ve been using Hero Cosmetics Superlight for the last year and I like it alot better than Elta and Tizo. It also has a light green tint to neutralize redness

basketma12

I use the baby stuff, notbeven the children's stuff. I loathe the smell they put in many sunscreens. I do not wear foundations. Never have. They always look so wrong on me. I'm super pale, and I've had one cancer removed. I'm old so..there was no sunscreen when I was a kid

Smiles_Sunshine

I’m old too and it took until 53 to try sunscreen 😵‍💫

italianlearning232

Here’s my hot take… most commercial sunscreens, likely the ones you listed as well, contain a lot of horrible ingredients. Preservatives, parabens, pthalates, and toxic active ingredients such as homosalate and oxybenzone. Yes it’s better than getting a bad sunburn and skin cancer, but these products are really bad for you, and there are clean mineral-based alternatives out there with less than 10 ingredients. Wearing protective clothing and hats is always the best option as well. So point is don’t go with fancy brands, packaging, what looks and smells nice. Go with what is healthy for your body.

Delicious-Menu-7744

Neutrogena for me

Secure_Spend5933

My dermatologist got me on the CeraVe sunscreen train.  I tried many of the expensive ones prior. I'm happy with it, and keep a supergoop glow stick in my purse for later in the day.

90DayCray

Super goop broke me out sooooo bad! ELTA md didn’t do crap! I actually got burned on my face using that. I was pissed! Also, spray sunscreens seem convenient, but they suck. They miss so much and you really need to rub it in to cover, which defeats the purpose.

Smiles_Sunshine

I often question efficacy too!

Solid5of10

Omg .. you have tried the yucky ones. Don’t use American sunscreen use Korean or Japanese only.

Smiles_Sunshine

I’ve tried lots and love from j & k… they are so elegant I think o m g … to good to be true??? Which are your ride or dies?

Solid5of10

Beauty of joeson, round tree birch, Purito, biore Japanese one and one called sun killer watery something. They have never done me wrong or burnt my eyes with fumes I hate that stinging eyes thing they go on smooth and make me look dewy ..

Smiles_Sunshine

Which version of purito? I tried others and love. I haven’t seen killer watery. There two are good too! https://preview.redd.it/d9wxmx8gn17d1.jpeg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ce34059ea2521d131ec297db5158026575996098

Bellabird42

I like missha! I use the waterproof one and it’s nice by itself but if I want some light coverage, I mix it with Dr Jarts BB cream in light (I’m fair!) bc otherwise the bb cream is too dark

Solid5of10

I love iunik! The Beta Glucan serum is bomb if you have dry skin https://preview.redd.it/uenywm8dp17d1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=46eb6ca27c1de84d5f1a89c9cb9d9ed844168410

Smiles_Sunshine

I’m 54 and very dehydrated! I’ll try xx

Fit_Highlight_5622

I use MAC spf 50. It’s $40 for a small bottle and it glides on like the best moisturizer I’ve ever had. The real reason I buy it though is because I’ve never before found an spf product that didn’t cast a white chalky tint to my brown skin, or burn like hell on my face. I’ll spend the $$ for four bottles for each of my family members once a month if I have to. We don’t need as much as we don’t burn ever and our melanin is a general protective measure. I do wish it were cheaper but I’ve been getting what I pay for it wasn’t worth crap.

Smiles_Sunshine

I didn’t even know MAC makes a sunscreen! I’m a die hard fanatic for MAC, but as I’ve gotten older, I mainly repurchase the products I know or what’s hyped. But sunscreen!!!! I’ll check it out!

Fit_Highlight_5622

https://preview.redd.it/2ml76e73e27d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=669e74854df4f1abb41a120965c13c7fc468cc7e I absolutely adore this formulation. I have NO idea why the ratings are so low. The number one thing I know ppl don’t like is the size of the bottle for the cost. But I have no issues bc I work from home and don’t wear it daily. And truly, I don’t need as much as fairer skinned people. Although sunscreen is a must for everyone, I still need vitamin D, which AA are notoriously low in and partly bc we have to sit in the sun 30% longer to reap a similar benefit. I think the moisturizing aspect of this is lovely. And i wear it on top of a my last product in my regimen, which is an oil. Then if I’m wearing makeup, I apply that after this. Silky smooth skin.

Ah forgot to mention big for me was not wanting the burn in my eyes

ChangeDelicious891

I would love to see Chanel Ayan from RHWO Dubai! She is so iconic.

mrsbluskies

I’m super sensitive to smells and I’ve never smelled any scent with my DRMTLGY tinted moisturizer/ sunscreen.

Smiles_Sunshine

It’s definitely a gold standard for dermatologists and influencers alike. I personally don’t like it. Only one opinion 😊

mrsbluskies

Of course. Sorry you had a bad experience with it ❤️
