yeh he played an asshole ...in a lot of roles
but IRL he is one of the nicest most down to earth people and will stop and chat with fans - he is in a play on Broadway that is at the end of its run now - "Enemy of the People"
super cool guy
From Wikipedia re: Thomas G. Waites (Fox):
Hill saw [Thomas G. Waites](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_G._Waites) as the next [James Dean](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Dean), and the director "invited the young actor to the Gulf and Western to watch movies like [*Rebel Without a Cause*](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rebel_Without_a_Cause) and [*East of Eden*](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/East_of_Eden_(film)) for inspiration."[\[14\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Warriors_(film)#cite_note-Remember-16) During the screening, Hill offered Waites a drink, which Waites refused, resulting in a rift between the two that grew worse during the grueling summer shoot. At one point, Waites threatened to report the working conditions to the [Screen Actors Guild](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screen_Actors_Guild), forcing [Paramount](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paramount_Pictures) to provide a second trailer for the eight Warriors to share.[\[14\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Warriors_(film)#cite_note-Remember-16)
Finally eight weeks into principal photography, when the tension on set between Waites and Hill reached the breaking point, Hill demanded that stunt coordinator Craig Baxley improvise a stunt scene in which Waites' character would be killed. "Stunned, Baxley demurred. Such a critical scene would take careful planning. But Hill was insistent. 'I don't give a shit how you kill him,' Baxley recalls the director saying. 'Kill him.'" Baxley found a crew member who resembled Waites and staged a scene in which the character is thrown off a subway platform in front of an approaching train. "It was like someone cut my soul out and left a shell", Waites remembers. He would later demand that his name be removed from the cast altogether; he remains uncredited to this day.
Someone should have spoofed the scene with all of THE PUNKS getting trapped inside invisible boxes. Then, each Warrior could cold cock them, one at a time. 😁
You can buy an original (replica) WARRIORS jacket on the interweb. I love that vest, and was going to buy one to wear while putting around on my motorcycle. Then, I thought “ someone - like a real biker- is going to beat my ass.” So, I never got it. Still have all my teeth, though.
"Warriors... come out and play..."
"What?"
"Warriors... Come..."
"Im sorry son, you're gonna have to speak up... try and talk into my left ear. I don't hear out of my right ear so much...."
"I said... Warriors.... Come out and..."
"What?"
"Warriors...Come out and play..."
"What? Oh... Are you crazy? It's 54 degrees outside.... Harris jus got his hip replaced and my arthritis acts up when it gets cold... plus we got Bingo in 20 min... you wanna sit and have some tea and cookies while we look at pictures of my grand kids instead?"
"Sure..."
"All right now, for all you boppers out there in the big city, all you street people with an ear for the action, I've been asked to relay a request from the Gramercy Riffs. It's a special for the Warriors; that's that real live bunch from Coney... and I do mean The Warriors. Here's a hit with them in mind."
I too, thought “In the City” was perfect for the scene. The song emotionally captures that combination of coolness, swagger, and toughness and leaves you with a chill in your spine and lump in your throat. Awesome bike riding music.
Midnight movies younger people can't really relate. It was so new or I grew up that the cops were actually in the parking lot because they didn't know what to expect from kids that would go to movies at midnight OMG!!!
I remember watching this movie for the first time as a kid. I wanted to be a member of the Furies so badly. I still wear a Furies shirt that is designed to look like a real baseball team. Every once in a while people will stop me if they get the reference.
Michael Beck. I had a total crush on him back in 1980. He could have been an A-lister, he was so handsome. He just happened to make two well-loved but awful movies back to back, so maybe that put a damper on his career
Here he is in cartoon form:

That's a cool reunion picture, just by coincidence I happened to re-watch this movie a few weeks ago. I had not seen it since it blew my mind 40+ years ago when I was a kid. It didn't have the same impact on me this time but it was still cool to watch it again.

So sad then, ridiculous now. That was our attempt at CWorkOrange which was nothing but pure violence for violence sake and the beginning of a new film trend.

I read this scene was improvised, makes it that much cooler
It's the only thing I remember from that movie.
Warriors... take your Geritol.
Waaaaaaaaariors, dye out dye out your graaaaaaaaaaa-aaaaa-aaaaaaaaay
Excellent
UNDERRATED COMMENT well done
My era and I agree lol. It was also really bad
“By Mennon!”
Warriors…come out to the 4 pm buffet!
Gelutol?
Just imagine him rolling in on a wheelchair clacking those bottles lol
yeh he played an asshole ...in a lot of roles but IRL he is one of the nicest most down to earth people and will stop and chat with fans - he is in a play on Broadway that is at the end of its run now - "Enemy of the People" super cool guy
Come out and play
Twisted Sisterrrrrrr.....come out annnd plaaaay 🤘
He did ace that scene. . ."Warriors. . . warriors come out to playyah!"
Dinner service for five, John?
Yeah what happen to this prick?
Can you DIG IT?
When a short old white guy booms out “Cab you dig it brothers”, the room empties fast except for the one guy who gets it. 😄
Good. Real good.
The best.
The rest is ours.
Hockey was surprisingly popular with the Gramercy Riffs. https://i.redd.it/8wnhc7zinr7d1.jpeg
still look bad ass
No they look like they are going to ask to speak to your manager.
And whose grandma made those vests?
Original vests are definitely nicer
For the seniors' discount
And still wipe your ass.
I prefer to do that myself.
Look like they're all carrying plastic cap guns.
Where's James Remar? He was the most successful one.
Remar is steady working. Couple movies a year. Last one I saw him in was Oppenheimer.
Dexter’s dad on, what else, Dexter.
Played *two* parts in Django.
"I'm gonna shove that bat up your ass and turn you into a popsicle"
And he has his original authentic colors still.
Watched this movie a million times on cable one summer.
They came out to play lol
So they became a polka band.
Me too. I saw this movie at the theater that no longer exists.
I saw it in a theater with a girl that now neither exists.
Sad. My Dad took me and he no longer exists too😢
Awww… sorry for your loss
I watched this movie on a Betacord VCR and they no longer exist
I saw it at a drive-in that doesn’t exist anymore
I've always enjoyed that no one could stand the actor playing Fox so they just killed off the character randomly and didn't credit him anywhere.

So only seeing the top comment I thought, man the actor was a dick. But refusing to drink and fighting for better working conditions seem reasonable.
He admits he went about it the wrong way. There's a right way to get what you want or deserve. https://youtu.be/XoTXUGZ_6zc
Thanks for clarifying what actually happened.
Three years later he was killed off again by The Thing in Antartica.
Three years later he was killed off again by The Thing in Antartica.
Wow , thats Great ! And a damn great movie . Being from New York City and growing up there I knew where all the scenes were . Now I gotta watch it
Me too. The fight took place at Coney Island but it's been so long, I don't recall any other sites.
What a silly movie that was so fun to watch. The Baseball Furies. OMG too funny
I always thought the roller skating gang dressed like mimes around 14th street were odder.
Someone should have spoofed the scene with all of THE PUNKS getting trapped inside invisible boxes. Then, each Warrior could cold cock them, one at a time. 😁
Sounds like SNL missed a skit.
Ha!
Like they escaped the Xanadu lot
The Warriors did it! The Warriors killed Cyrus!
Too bad they couldn't come up with better looking vests that looked more like the originals.
You can buy an original (replica) WARRIORS jacket on the interweb. I love that vest, and was going to buy one to wear while putting around on my motorcycle. Then, I thought “ someone - like a real biker- is going to beat my ass.” So, I never got it. Still have all my teeth, though.
Probably a wise decision. 😂
As long as you don't have a bottom rocker or a 1% patch you will be fine.
Me and a couple other dads wanted to go as these guys for Halloween as we took the kids Would have been epic
Come out and play eea!
Now they look like all the guys I’d hang out with at a barbecue! Nice to see most of them are healthy and happy.
"Warriors... come out and play..." "What?" "Warriors... Come..." "Im sorry son, you're gonna have to speak up... try and talk into my left ear. I don't hear out of my right ear so much...." How cool!
Love that movie
Can you count, sucka’s!!
Don’t fuck with the war chief
"Waaaarriors . . . come out and *plaaaaaay* . . . we've got shuffleboard and pickleball . . . ."
Warriors, come out to playeeaaa.
I know it’s critically acclaimed and has a large following, still an underrated movie.
The replica vests don't look so good.
Looks like Woody from Toy Story.
SO. BAD.ASS.
Warriors!!!! Dinner at Dennys is at 3eeeeeeeee…
I loved this movie back in the day and it still holds up.
lol! What happened to their original vests…? The vests that they have on now are clearly not the same…
The "modern" shot seems to be from this 2015 short... [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMioYmZE2vU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMioYmZE2vU)
Where is James Remar aka AJax??? He’s still alive and was my fave character
I will forever love this movie. So scandalous when it first came out in theaters. I think I was 14.
I was like 11 or 12. Saw this and Boulevard Nights as dbl feature at the drive in. One of the best movie nights ever.
No James Remar though. He's too successful to show up.
Weird. He was the only unlikeable member of the gang. Lol
One of my all time favorite movies… Warriors, come out to play
Warriors! Come out for the early bird specials
NYC definitely could use these guys at this point
Can you diiiiigggg it.....one of the best movies ever.
Looks like my mom made those vests.
One of my favorite of all time movies..
Warrriiiioooorrrssss....myyy baaaaaccckk hurrrrrtssssss!
The coolest dudes to ever do it!

Well hello boppers.......
I absolutely LOVED that movie!! First R rated movie that my friends & I snuck in to see back in the day. Plus, “In The City” by Joe Walsh was perfect!
I too, thought “In the City” was perfect for the scene. The song emotionally captures that combination of coolness, swagger, and toughness and leaves you with a chill in your spine and lump in your throat. Awesome bike riding music.
Completely agree!! Excellent description!

Friggin love that movie
I looooved that movie

I can dig it
Love this movie!!! Watch it every chance I get!!
Great NYC movie !
Love this movie. Too young to see it when released
Definitely not guys to mess with.
RIFFS
Turned in to an oldies doo-wop quintet.
warriors...... Warriors....... WARRIORS!!!!!
That's awesome
...yeah, but what about the Furies?
Everyone remembers them, therefore they hold up.
Warriors! Come out and play.
That’s the dude from Xanadau

He was very wooden. You notice it much more in Xanadu opposite Gene and Olivia but it works better as a stoic hero here
OK, this is an amazing post. Just made my day.
That's a cool reunion picture, just by coincidence I happened to re-watch this movie a few weeks ago. I had not seen it since it blew my mind 40+ years ago when I was a kid. It didn't have the same impact on me this time but it was still cool to watch it again.
Badass
Ahh I see you guys attended my high school reunion
Love how ALL the gangs were coordinated in their respective attire.
Walter Hill WA visionary
I remember watching this movie in the '80s and '90s! I've seen it more than a couple of times, but now I couldn't watch this oldie, LOL.🤔🤷♂️
Cool movie
I saw them at the pickle ball courts the other day. I don't know how in the hell they play with those vests on.
![gif](giphy|mCxZH1Bi9o2aY)
The vests are still killer
I love this pic, this movie was the weirdest movie I've ever watched!!!
Wish someone told him not to do Xanadu
[удалено]

Still look goofy
Swan could default all, other than Xanadu.
The best
The Warriors is just a documentary on 1970s New York change my mind
Going into the city after seeing Warriors preview scared the shit out of me.
When New York was cool.
Terrence Michos was our local cable news guy in Poughkeepsie back in the day.
Warriors …..it’s time for your nap time
This is reality hitting me in the face
Thats a great pic!
Warriors now….with khakis
And New Balance's....don't forget the New Balance's
Excellent
The Orphans probably let them through again
Bad ass movie
Awesome they're all alive, wouldn't have guessed that
Thats crap brothers
Come out and playyy.
Awesome movie!
What's with the vinyl vests? They look like they need a Fez and mini-bike.
Those original vests would be worth a small fortune today!!
mighty relieved direction grandiose political weather simplistic lavish rain cable *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Warriors you have bingo tooodayay
No Ajax? Did James Remar not want to be involved?
I like that the Warriors were racially inclusive.
Man that has been years ago. . .those actors have not always aged well!
I swear I saw the lower group riding around on goldwings the other day
The Worriers Get up and take your meeeds!
My dad brought us kids to see this movie. We were real young. Mom was pissed ! Great memories
They all look like Walmart greeters now..
Instead of clubbing the opposing gangs with bats and chains and running away. They now hit them with their canes and shuffle away with walkers.
So sad then, ridiculous now. That was our attempt at CWorkOrange which was nothing but pure violence for violence sake and the beginning of a new film trend.
I have no room to talk but they look like they aged like milk. They actually look better than I do but that’s not saying much lol
Could I take out Sean today? I think so if I go for his knee or hip.
Who is Sean? You mean Swan?
Fuckin’ autocorrect! I didn’t even realize.
So he fat fingered a letter. The E and the W are right next to each other. Is that really worth calling him out for?
Ajax might
“Let’s go, fat fingers!”
😄
