I have never thought of AC/DC as really being Satanical or anything. It’s a bit. It’s kind of like a joke about being bad. I was super Christian in my 20s and had no problems with the lyrics.
I'm Christian. Same case as the other comment. I don't have problems with AC/DC and the lyrics. I mean if somebody wants to blame rock and roll for the evil and/or the bad things in the world as the people of the us government, they're making a big mistake.
LOL, that's just 70s rebellion, and not serious or heavy enough to actually be considered as Satanic by anyone. It's not black metal ffs. I'm very religious (Muslim Scholar, work in a madrassa) and I listen to them all the time.
You must not remember the big music censorship craze of the ‘80s. They were accused of some truly ridiculous shit like having their albums blessed by a satanic priest so they sell well.
Grew up in the church, never considered them the slayer type, even when Gore and the PMRC put out their lame books that claimed that AC/DC stood for anti Christ defeats Christ? Even as a kid I knew they were full of it. BETTER THAN PAUL MCCARTNEY AND MICK JAGGER!!
AC/DC are very much a tongue in cheek band. Big Balls will make that obvious.
It’s well known that they looked for gimmicks to stand out from the crowd and I’m confident that the gimmicks did not have any real basis. Angus doesn’t really believe he’s a school child.
Music and satanism have been debated for decades- Judas Priest, Iron Maiden etc. This is 2024, most people have realised that they are not intertwined in general (there are some bands but AC/DC definitely isn’t one).
Let there be Rock.
Have never thought they were satanic.
Was Steven Spielberg evil because he made movies like convoy/jaws or fabrics ford Coppola for dementia 13?
I just think it's story telling.
I'm a lifelong practicing Catholic and I love ACDC, I even had one of their songs played at my wedding reception. (You Shook Me All Night Long) Their most recent album was only recorded because the guys got together at a Catholic Church for Angus' funeral mass. If you view most of what they say as being tongue in cheek, their fairly innocuous other than being pro fornication, which is pretty universal.
AC/DC are the hard rock kings. They have a lot of provocative songs that promote the devil. But music is art. If you play music then you can appreciate what AC/DC has done. But if you’re religious and lean hard that way I could see why. But I mean it’s kind of silly to think that way.
AC/DC has always been a big thing in Mormon crowds. They’re arguably the band that’s picked on the most by their parents for being “evil” so I think it’s partly out of rebellion.
Yes. They’re tied with CCR as my favorite band ever. The only ACDC songs I really don’t love, for the most part, are the the ones about hell. That being said, however, Hell’s Bells is in my top 5 ACDC songs. The others about hell, I’m not crazy about. I like Hell’s Bells better than most bcuz I just like the guitar riffs and the way it sounds overall.
And an idiot for giving praise to the most innocuous band ever for inspiring his crimes. At least pick a band that’s more convincingly satanist. Mind you, Venom and Slayer weren’t really “things” yet.
Yes, I have met many. I even live together with one. Most people are able to separate religion and entertainment. And understand that they should not believe everything people try to tell them. Thankfully the satanic panic is mostly a thing of the past. There are still people who are afraid of everything that mentions anything that can remind us about the red guy's basement bbq pit, but we don't have to listen to them.
Many bands that reference satan have plenty of religious fans. Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie and so on. Just because a band references satan does not mean that it goes against religious beliefs. I myself am Christian and all of these bands are the shit to me.
Egyptian Christian here. I consider myself devout. AC/DC is by far my favorite musical artist of all time. Never felt anything satanic about them. Heck, I listen to stuff like Metallica as well and never once had satanic thoughts. So anyone says that AC/DC is satanic needs to get their head out of the dirt.
I'm a daily Mass going Catholic and have been a fan since I was 10. There's a couple songs I won't listen to, such as Hell ain't a bad place to be, but it's very few.
I’m a Christian and I love AC/DC. The songs have a different meaning that satanism. Example, their songs are more like short stories of how things really are in the world. Not necessarily their view, but a majority of the world. I hope that makes sense. If you write a murder story, it doesn’t make you a murderer.
I identify as Christian and no. AC/DC is not even close to being satanic, it’s just bad boy, rebel type stuff. I adore the lads to death and they are my favorite band by far. Christians should be more concerned with the sexual tongue in cheek part of their lyrics.
ac/dc is a classic rock band.
classic rock is very popular where i'm from (southern us).
the southern us is often called the "bible belt", due to the prevalence of christianity there.
therefore, ac/dc has religious fans.
why are we even having this discussion?
I am a very conservative Orthodox Christian and AC/DC and GNR are my favorite bands! Music is entertainment, and as long as it's not influencing you to sin or is just overly vulgar, I don't see the harm.
In the 80's, a lot of preachers were throwing the satanism tag every chance they had. Of course bands like KISS, Iron Maiden, Ozzy, Alice Cooper, WASP, Led Zeppelin. etc. were thrown in but bands like Electric Light Orchestra, Black Oak Arkansas, Iggy Pop and even The Beatles were accused! It was crazy times but I enjoyed it. Everything they said about those bands made me just go out and get my parents to buy those records! It led to some great discoveries.
Of course. Many hard rock and heavy metal bands are "evil." But since, no one is good as we're told in Romans, Christians hurl the stone at the glass house in hypocrisy, failing to see the mote in their own eye.
I have never thought of AC/DC as really being Satanical or anything. It’s a bit. It’s kind of like a joke about being bad. I was super Christian in my 20s and had no problems with the lyrics.

same, i agree

I am a born again Christian. I love AC/DC. My favorite band ever. It’s all just music to me. I listen to slipknot too
PSYCHOSOCIAL!
PSYCHOSOCIAL!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Songs like Neo Forte get me going too. Love me some slipknot
One of my favorites!!
Never met one. But then again I've never heard of AC/DC being accused as satanic either.
You must not remember the big music censorship craze of the ‘80s. They were accused of some truly ridiculous shit like having their albums blessed by a satanic priest so they sell well.
They were even accused for being nazis.
Nothing about AC/DC is satanic
Their signature look is devil horns fym lmao
Grew up in the church, never considered them the slayer type, even when Gore and the PMRC put out their lame books that claimed that AC/DC stood for anti Christ defeats Christ? Even as a kid I knew they were full of it. BETTER THAN PAUL MCCARTNEY AND MICK JAGGER!!
You need to actually listen to Hell Ain't a Bad Place to be. Entirely metaphorical.
Highway to Hell is metaphorical as well. The "satan" in the song is rather a band manager.
AC/DC is my Religion
And the singer turned and he said to the crowd: "Eat this dog, for you are one. Drink this drink, for it is Old Fashioned" Mal. 3:10
Here, here🤘
Life long Mormon here. Been a rabid fan since the first time I saw them live (2X) in 1977. I did have to hide my albums from the parents.
Christian. I just don't care.

I find much of it to be very tongue in cheek
Soon to be an AC/DC lyric I’m sure lol.
Have never thought they were satanic. Was Steven Spielberg evil because he made movies like convoy/jaws or fabrics ford Coppola for dementia 13? I just think it's story telling.

Yep right here
Me,I'm a Mormon, served a mission and made all the way to Bishop over the years, given me Highway to Hell and Thunderstruck to Who made Who
AC/DC has always been a big thing in Mormon crowds. They’re arguably the band that’s picked on the most by their parents for being “evil” so I think it’s partly out of rebellion.
Yes! It's like everything that's " wrong " LDS community,we're more willing to try because we're told No you can't

I do believe that Ramirez was a Satanist.
And an idiot for giving praise to the most innocuous band ever for inspiring his crimes. At least pick a band that’s more convincingly satanist. Mind you, Venom and Slayer weren’t really “things” yet.
It was reminiscent of Charles Manson interpretation of Beatles lyrics. But Night Crawler was Ramirez’ jam

Religion itself doesn’t have the societally-accepted hold that it used to, aside from a very loud minority.
Many bands that reference satan have plenty of religious fans. Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie and so on. Just because a band references satan does not mean that it goes against religious beliefs. I myself am Christian and all of these bands are the shit to me.

Here's one right here.
This is all probably a non-issue everywhere else except for the United States
Once in a family karaoke I sang Highway to hell and after I ended all my Catholic "encanto-like" aunts stood up to bless me.
I follow Christ and I am a big fan of ACDC!
I'm a daily Mass going Catholic and have been a fan since I was 10. There's a couple songs I won't listen to, such as Hell ain't a bad place to be, but it's very few.
I'm a practicing Catholic as well, but I'll listen to all their music bar Love Song🤢🤮 that is a "song" completely unworthy of being on an AC/DC album.
I’m Catholic and I love AC/DC, some of my fondest memories are jamming out to AC/DC with my dad on the way home from Mass
One of my favorite bands. I go to church every Sunday.
I’m a Christian and I love AC/DC. The songs have a different meaning that satanism. Example, their songs are more like short stories of how things really are in the world. Not necessarily their view, but a majority of the world. I hope that makes sense. If you write a murder story, it doesn’t make you a murderer.

Yeah they do have religious fans. I know a pair of twins that are super Christian and they love AC/DC
I am a very conservative Orthodox Christian and AC/DC and GNR are my favorite bands! Music is entertainment, and as long as it's not influencing you to sin or is just overly vulgar, I don't see the harm.
Yes I am religiously an AC/DC fan.
In the 80's, a lot of preachers were throwing the satanism tag every chance they had. I’m a Christian and I love AC/DC and lots of other hard rock and heavy metal.
Of course. Many hard rock and heavy metal bands are "evil." But since, no one is good as we're told in Romans, Christians hurl the stone at the glass house in hypocrisy, failing to see the mote in their own eye.
I always chuckle at the “Love thy neighbor” folks having an issue with some neighbors.
The last acdc album could almost be a Christian rock album.
I’m a born again Christian saved by Jesus, and I still love AC/DC. I choose not to listen to some songs, but the music is still bangin!
Only religious people believe in hell so I guess so..?
