If you have the chance I recommend young woman and the sea. Last night was the last showing for my local places. But it was so good and worth watching on the big screen.
So I went on a deep dive after watching the movie yesterday. It was originally going to be a Disney+ film. But after positive test audience reviews they decided on limited theatrical run. It was slated to stream on May 31st. The date was kept but instead released in the theatres that day. My best guess for why it was limited is because of inside out 2 being released in 6/14. So there’s no competition. Could be other reasons too.
I also highly recommend Sometimes I Think About Dying, her performance in that is really great, and the writing is really lovely, especially the ending
Run Lola Run was a super fun time if it's still playing near you. Older film but it is back in theaters for a 25 yr anniversary 4K release. Leaving soon, though, I think.
I'm looking forward to Thelma, The Bikeriders and Inside Out 2. The Screen Unseen on the 17th is likely to be The Bikeriders. Might give a chance to Tuesday as well. The premise seems interesting even if the reviews on the execution seem divided.
Easily in my top five for the year. Comedy of the year right now (unless “Spy x Family Code: White” is considered comedy, but I would place that in animated first.)
Eyy fellow SpyFam enjoyers. It's definitely my favorite animated movie of the year so far. Any of you see it for the Screen Unseen? Made me chuckle watching how many people walked out the moment it was evident it was an anime film.
Not really sure of your vibes or interests so just going off what I'd tell my friends based on what my theaters have this week. 😁 I was only interested in The Watchers and am relying on Thursday release for Inside Out for this week. The Watchers is.... okay until the end.
I've heard good things about Tuesday from the festival circuit (we're getting that Thursday as well). I also second the Babes recommendation from previous comments. Its pretty funny but grounded in a decent storyline.
The Dead Don't Hurt was well intentioned and pretty but too slow for me. I kinda disassociated at one point thinking about food and missed nothing.
Going to recommend you do NOT attempt Summer Camp. Convinced it was some sort of tax aversion scheme for everyone involved.
If it's for the 'current' week ending today, I'd go for Inside Out 2 and get it out of the way. Sounds like it will have enough 'for the adults' humor to enjoy.
On the more indie side, Tuesday with Julia Louis-Dreyfus is also out, as well as Treasure with Stephen Fry.
If you're talking next week that starts tomorrow, you could include the Midsommar IMAX re-release on Thurs the 20th.
But it would help if you could tell us what you've already seen, at least the 1 you are already counting for this week (or next week). Plenty of decent things out, but if you're usual maxing out then chances are you've seen a lot of it. For example, The Dead Don't Hurt was really good, but it's been out for a bit.
My weekend is also bad because “Inside Out 2” is the only new movie at my two local AMCs. No one wanted to challenge Pixar for the weekend.
Thank God for the mystery preview screening on Monday.
If you like weird, surrealist films, check out I Saw The TV glow, if it’s still playing near you if you haven’t already seen it.
I’ve also heard good things about Robot Dreams
i just saw fresh kills a couple of days ago and loved it! a mafia movie about the daughters of a mob boss in staten island. idk where it’s playing tho. i may have gotten lucky bc im in NY.

Disney's limited releasing this one for some reason? It's only at the Landmark and Emagine here.

Thanks for this I was genuinely thinking why is Disney acting like they're Neon now? Of course its Plus shenanigans 😆
You’re welcome!
Excellent movie. Daisy Ridley has been so fun to watch post-Star Wars.
Yeah! What are some other stuff of hers that you recommend?
I also highly recommend Sometimes I Think About Dying, her performance in that is really great, and the writing is really lovely, especially the ending
Sometimes I Think About Dying is great (and has one of my favorite posters ever) and I really enjoyed The Marsh King's Daughter.
The first one sounds vaguely familiar. And the marsh king’s daughter has been on my maybe list. I’ll need to check these both out. Thank you :)
I completely agree, it was so good, and Daisy Ridley is incredible in the movie!
I feel like she really captured the joy this woman had with being in the water.
I really agree!
Bad Boys 4 is a great movie to watch on IMAX or Dolby
Just left the screening. Wasn’t disappointed

Soooo good.
Watched it 3 times in the last 5 days. Sooooo fucking good.
So glad I saw it last night. Hadn't seen it in years and never on the big screen.

Saw Thelma for the Screen Unseen on the 10th. It's frickin great, June Squibb is a treasure.

spy code was HILARIOUS

So glad I got the dubbed cut. Insane they would even consider putting a subbed cut in a mystery screening.
Babes is really entertaining. I also just watched Thelma in a screen unseen and it too was great.
Babes was so funny!
I really enjoyed this movie.
Thelma is very good. Seeing Fireband tomorrow. LOTR was fun to see on the big screen again.
I have felt the same. Not a lot of good rated movies out there last few weeks. Went to see Bad Boys, it was a pleasurable time.

Handling the Unread is a fascinating zombie drama. Not sure I've ever seen a zombie drama before.

Inside Out 2 and Furiosa are legit.
Mad max!!
