I wouldn't say I'm lying, misremembering maybe but I'm not intentionally saying something false. Google says June 2021 which sounds right for Gen2. My bad I can't remember every detail from 7 years ago lmao
People generally downvote comments that are completely wrong, nothing wrong with being wrong but ppl downvote so others know not to believe incorrect comment
> You need their horns to tame mantis.
Or rhino horns, which are on beacon drops, it just takes more of them.
Deathworms are hard to find in the desert, but way easier when/if you do the SE boss fight, the Manticore, because that's a phase of the fight (assuming you're on the ground.)
Although it has a very scary name, it is actually very friendly! It has a unique taming style and you need mejoberrys to tame it. They are also one of the most useful creatures in the game. They harvest 2x any material in the desert. So go ahead and land next to it and tame it.
The big creatures like giga, carchar, titanosaur tend to load in very far away. However this is a deathworm and while they do load in above ground they immediately burrow underground as that's where they're naturally supposed to wait in stasis.
If you approach an area with a deathworm it'll aggro, pop up, and attack. They have high hp, and the alphas are generally pretty strong too.
But otherwise, they're just a scorched Earth creature that you should be able to handle fairly easily if you've got good saddles and a battle tame.

its a beetle larvae that can be passive tamed with spoiled meat if you are using bugreppelant and you approach on foot
they mature into pretty heafty beetles that can tank a lot of damage and carry a lot but they arent that fast
Yeah they’re really easy tame and a very powerful mount, I just finished some mutations on mine and they look stunning! Just don’t forget to bring mejoberries and put your tames on passive or you’ll scare it
Deathworm and no I wouldn't be too worried about it. At some point you will want a giga or a wyvern. A lightning wyvern at that. It has the best range and projectile. Perfect for hunting worms.
Looks like a death worm. You probably are seeing them load in but they usually hide underground and then wait for you to come near enough to aggro them. You use that horns to shove up a mantis' butt to tame it 🤣
hot take, people can play older games and another hot take, not everyone's pc can handle ASA, crazy news i know, not sure i can handle the backfiring of these hot takes tho...
hot take, people don't start games with 1000h+ other hot take, people don't directly play scrotched earth or lost island, last hot take people don't usually go read every single info possible on ark before playing the game
Lol no i was referring to your reply, the question was fine bro thats how you learn. But the ark community is pretty toxic at times... if what i said got you all bummed just wait, youll understand eventually. Unless you are playing single player.
But for real, half the fun of ark is exploring things..like deathworms. If you lose it all in the process then no big deal its just pixels. But i got that pvp mentality where everything i build and raise will eventually die and be destroyed.
Good luck survivor!
and was refering to my reply too, if you can't differienciate an explanation from sensitivity, you shouldn't play ark either. i do play singleplayer, as i play only for having a good time and not often.
i have to admit that i don't get the "fun" in trying hard to do something and just dying to start over again when you can just try the easy way and work your way up to the difficulty. i also don't get (but am aware) of ark players toxicity.
thanks for staying overall respectful
Its a death worm they're passive tames go up to them with stem berrys and keep pushing Y or whatever button is on your console if it kills you'll it means you're doing a good job just keep pushing till it says its tamed. I think
it needs to kill ya 100 to 100,000 times till its tamed
That's a Cuddlesaurus. They live in the desert under the sand. If you find one, they'll come up to you automatically and giggle when they pop out of the ground. They stand up really tall and then bend down to give you hugs and kisses which translates into xp.
You can tame them by dismounting and whistling your tame passive right before they emerge and doing dance emotes to make it giggle more. Once tamed, it will hold your hand and skip through the dunes with you into the sunset. They really nailed the animation on this especially how it kicks up the sand when it skips and the loving smile on its face when you become best friends for life.
Best shoulder pet ever 10/10

That's a death worm. Sometimes you'll see them load in but because they're underground they'll disappear. You need their horns to tame mantis.
You can also use rhino horns iirc
Rhino horns can tame mantis?
Yes
Yea they do, but the the amount of horns you need it higher with the Rhino horns.
Doesn’t it also lower taming efficiency?
also less effective than death worm horns
As of like a few months ago I believe
I’m assuming it’s like prime meat vs meat, and rhino horns take longer?
Yes
I’d say it’s more like mutton vs prime
Been that way at least since I got back into ARK late 2017, when my friend and I were bobs that's how we'd get them because the worms scared us lmao
Uh, no lmao you’re straight up just lying. They only got changed to being tameable with rhino horns because of gen 2
I wouldn't say I'm lying, misremembering maybe but I'm not intentionally saying something false. Google says June 2021 which sounds right for Gen2. My bad I can't remember every detail from 7 years ago lmao
Ease up super chief. You're not impressing anyone
Uhm ackshually ☝️🤓 lookin ass lmao
I think it was just after Fjordur's release, because Mantis spawn on the map, but not Deathworms.
On Fjordur u can get deathworm horns from corpses in the magmasaur area
Yeah, no. I remember doing it years ago
Why did this comment get downvoted so much?
People generally downvote comments that are completely wrong, nothing wrong with being wrong but ppl downvote so others know not to believe incorrect comment
You can but I couldn't remember if rhino's were on scorched earth.
They arrive in drops
I'm imagining a spaceship just literally dropping off a herd of rhinos into the desert and just yes.
Is this a thing now?
Yes, I got horns on SE in drops. Rhino.
yea but at a little over 1/3rd the food per feed
> You need their horns to tame mantis. Or rhino horns, which are on beacon drops, it just takes more of them. Deathworms are hard to find in the desert, but way easier when/if you do the SE boss fight, the Manticore, because that's a phase of the fight (assuming you're on the ground.)
You can also get it from the worms in the ice cave on Ragnarök. Much easier to kill and you can easy do it with a Thyla.
nvm, i read some other comments to know how to get it aggroed. thanks for the infos tho !

Also make sure you have no tames near you because it prefers secluded cuddles with only survivors around
Yes! I forgot about that one thank you
🤣🤣🤣
Found Satan!
Satan? Isn’t that an undergraduate student who received an E (reason: lack of creativity) under a human professor? (joke)
Land next to it on the sand, you will find out pretty quickly what it is. Just have your Mejoberrys in your hot bar ready to tame it. 👍
WHY IS EVERYONE TELLING ME TO GET MEJOBERRIES
You must ride it to become Lisan Al Gaib

I take it back, HERES satan. Also I hate that that that thing looks really close to the Worm aaa
If you want an uncanny resemblance, they look a lot like bobbit worms :)
I've never heard of those!
well if you want to name them satan then that is your choice
.....Well played, well played.
well you have to be at least decent to not aggro it and ruin the taming
My God this is the best one yet 😂
best what im just trying to explain how to tame them
Shai'Haluud
Ghost, bring salt and iron

Can you actually tame it?
Yea, its a passive tame, you need majoberries and bug repellant
No, people are just beings twats instead of giving an honesty answer.
"twats" 🙁
Don't get too close to it if you don't want to die
That my friend is a deathworm, it can kill dragons, please don't fight it unless you're certain
Aren't those a passive tame???
Yes.
Yeah they’re really easy tame and a very powerful mount, I just finished some mutations on mine and they look stunning! Just don’t forget to bring mejoberries and put your tames on passive or you’ll scare it
Almighty death worm 🪱!
That my friend is a deathworm.
Deathworm and no I wouldn't be too worried about it. At some point you will want a giga or a wyvern. A lightning wyvern at that. It has the best range and projectile. Perfect for hunting worms.
Deathworm :P only be worried if you’re on the ground and it’s coming towards you
Ever seen the movie franchise Tremors?
It's just a cute and little worm ^^, just don't try pat pat him >.>
That's a worm that brings death
Avoid it. 🙄
death worm
Yes, be worried
Everything in Ark wants to kill you. Other than that, you're fine.
i did forget about that
He’s just shy.
It's a cryptid. Run.
Looks like a death worm. You probably are seeing them load in but they usually hide underground and then wait for you to come near enough to aggro them. You use that horns to shove up a mantis' butt to tame it 🤣
You better have some good tames to kill a deathworm.
No. You’re fine. Just… don’t land
Death worm. That's a fuck no but if you want to tame a praying mantis you need their horns
That is a death worm
Death worm. Tad but scary but manageable.
OP, this isn’t directed at you. You people suck.
We are only helping???
You must be fun at partys
He doesn't get invited to parties to begin with
Say what you will, but I’m also not the type to give someone a spiked drink for entertainment’s sake
Holy fuck it's a video game
Frfr
Comparing a fucking video game to spiking someone's drink is actually fucking wild Holy shit. You're genuinly delusional.
I’m just gonna go out on a limb and assumed that a some point you tried to tame a giga with mejoberries
No, I’ve been around since before the Giga was added. I just *hate* this little “joke”.
Dunno. Go say hi, maybe scritch it's chin. Report results.
Please 🙏
They are wicked to kill lol until 2 more pop up and you have 3 coming at you 🤣
Dude's living through an ARG.

Oh we got a freshie here
yup, that's why i'm using the "help" flair :)
How many hrs you got on ark? 😆
hot take, people don't start games with 1000h+ other hot take, people don't directly play scrotched earth or lost island, last hot take people don't usually go read every single info possible on ark before playing the game
Lol you won't last long being sensitive like that bud, take a joke bro.. your mom does!
sensitive because i stated how it was normal to ask simple questions on a reddit dedicated to it ?

It’s a passive tame, you going to need to sneak up on it when it pops out of the ground.
If you got pet it, it will give you a x10 xp buff for 60secs
Its a death worm they're passive tames go up to them with stem berrys and keep pushing Y or whatever button is on your console if it kills you'll it means you're doing a good job just keep pushing till it says its tamed. I think it needs to kill ya 100 to 100,000 times till its tamed
Its a friend
It's a passive tame. You need to land close by, dismount, then run up and try to feed it mejoberries.
Passive tame. Feed it an ovis.
never heard of deathworms spawn in lost island. also looks helluvalot like scorched earth.
Deathworms definitely spawn on lost island and ragnarok. They both have a desert biome that looks just like scorched
