Press the left stick when you are in paint mode.(using paintbrush)

This. This is the answer. Use the paint brush in cosmetics mode, (paint your armor) while in paint mode, press left stick. Super dumb that this is the way, but this is the way.

I think you just press down on one of the thumbsticks while you are in the inventory menu and it should turn on and off.

I tried and unfortunately nothing happens.

Press the one on the left of the controller down when you are in your inventory

It is easily done, I could have sworn it was the thumbsticks. The only time I have the names turned on is when I'm on my inventory and get attacked and when I go back to my inventory they are back on from me frantically trying to exit the inventory. It happens rarely enough that I have to figure out how to fix it and then I forget because it won't happen again for a long time

How can I do that on ark survival ascended. I'm on Xbox series x

the only way it worked for me is to use a paintbrush on yourself, and press L3 in the apply paint menu. you can see the icon for the paintbrush toggle the name on and off

When I changed the thickness of the brush in the free paint menu I also had the item names. I had to go back into the menu and change the thickness of the brush to get rid of it

Option to change the function of pressing left-analog in the Settings menu. When "Quick Toggle Item Names" is checked, you can use left-analog press to show or hide item names in the inventory.

Then it makes the tooltip go away not the name. The sticks won't do shit either

One way you can do it is to go to settings and go to advanced on the far left box you will see a setting called "Force show item names" This is on by default.

I’m pretty it’s a option on the settings on the start menu, extra tool tip info of something like that.

It's either press down on the left joystick, or else the left trigger. I did it accidentally a few days ago. When I get on this evening I can try and replicate it to give you better feedback.

Yeah I logged in. Hopped out of bed. Opened my inventory and clicked L3 which turns the name overlay for my jerky and glowsticks on or off.

Press and hold. It’s definitely pressing the thumb stick with your inventory open

Either right or left stixk I forgot which

The key is having the “Quick toggle item names” in the settings menu. Can be done in game too, no need to be on the main menu. Hope this helps!

It had to do something with the paintprush, try to paint a billboard and exit the painting. I don’t know why but it worked for me

Epuip the paint brush use it to open the paint menu then push in on left stick (or right cant remember) and you should see it turn off
