He was fine. And the people later in the video do say, "Don't make a noise like that!" in relation to his wail LOL
Agreed, don't think it was 'for the camera' or whatever. And it *is* fortunate yet surprising that the shoulder of the arm hanging onto the ring that *did not* break is OK - might well be a bit sore once the adrenaline wears off!
This reminded me of a line from a book, maybe even Eragon specifically, where an assassin tries to kill a soldier in his sleep, but the soldier happened to wake up and catch them approaching, and in the ensuing exchange the soldier believes he got out uninjured, only to look around and see people looking horrified at his stomach. He looks down to see a slash across his belly deep enough to see layers of fat and muscle, not yet bleeding because he's tensed up so much from the fight, then absolutely gushing blood a moment later as his muscles relax slightly
That was my first thought. That's the gasping sound of someone winded. You can't really control it. Your body is screaming to draw a breath but your muscles wont cooperate.
they're telling him not to be injured / shocked / whatever, it's kinda messed up come on
let my man groan in confusion and agony for a sec
the way we police men is so weird
His buddy saying what, exactly? Besides:
* Watch the longer YouTube video again
* Note the noises for both left and right hand detach are very similar
* Note the puff of chalk both times
* Note when he's later very close to camera that you can see he has straps
The arm *not* holding the ring is the one he uses to push himself up onto his feet with and then point at the camera with, at no point making any noises, grimaces or other indications of pain at those moments. Fucking good effort if he'd got a broken shoulder.
Then there's the first line of the video description itself, of course, but we've only ViralHog's word for it so I do realise it's far from convincing:
> **"I was doing a ring sequence and the ring broke in half. I came out unscathed."**
They’re metal so they can slide in your grip, like coming over your head with it or out in front of you as some people do with them. Like the parallel bars are metal. So they can rotate… They need to be able to hold a grip in those rings. Also those rings are moving and more likely to wack someone
Parallel bars are not made of metal. The vertical supports are metal, however the bars themselves are wood or fiberglass with a wood like coating. The men's high bar is made of metal.
Oh I guess I was mistaken if so. Been years since I’ve been around any of that. (Neice) if that’s right, i could have sworn they were metal but may have been fiber glass and I just didn’t realize.
Much better grip especially when sweaty. Good brands like rogue are made like plywood and don't break no matter what. This was some cheap wooden rings.
I own 2 wooden sets from rogue {thin and thick} and a plastic set I keep outside in full sun and rain. Wood would be destroyed if left outside
Good quality rings don't break. [quality rings](https://www.roguefitness.com/rogue-wood-rings?sku=RA0022&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwp4m0BhBAEiwAsdc4aL68Ylw332kYN3ONnqyo-ercHW0woc2005RoXqy8xUGep6b45WiKxBoCqbMQAvD_BwE) Metal increases the weight, during gymnastics routines you move the rings really fast to get in place.
A metal core for a closed wooden ring would add a lot of complexity to the part, how would you even put it together? Two wooden halves with a groove, then what? Glue it? Would wear out over time with the forces in play. Screws? Now you got holes in them you gotta cover up, the covers might fall off, and now some poor gymnast is bleeding cause they gripped a wooden edge mid spin.

Well, not that common in Hindi. Virtually non-existent.
So, clever conversions of noun into verb like ‘ragdolled’ is not only fascinating to me but also comical.
Indic languages are little less flexible in this regard I reckon.
But we have our own way of making and using slangs. You know what I mean…
Oh interesting. Thanks for sharing. I somewhat assumed that most languages in mass modern use would have to have a high degree of flexibility to adapt with the times. Best of luck with your language learning!
> But we have our own way of making and using slangs. You know what I mean…
Pretty sure we don't lol. You've just told us about a fundamental difference in the way our languages are constructed and have developed and how they continue to change. I think most of us won't know unless we (1) speak Hindi and (2) study languages.
Can you elaborate? This sounds interesting.
It’s somewhat comical in English too because it’s so informal. Wasn’t really a common practice that long ago.
Not familiar with Hindi but if it’s grammatically possible you should just start doing it. Though I’m ND so take my social recommendations with a grain of salt.
That's probably because German is English's closest linguistic relative. Much of English vocabulary comes from Latin, but the grammatical structure and rules regarding conjugation are very similar.
Honestly half the fun of English is monkeying around with it. See, I didn't even try to do that but while I was proofreading, I automatically used monkeying instead of playing🤣
I never really thought about it, but verbing non-verb words is absolutely something that happens commonly in english. There's a lot of things that don't have a specific verb related to them, but verbing a noun or other type of word gets you "close enough" to the concept in your head, so it just seems to work. German probably has a lot of specific words that fit those "missing words", since german seems to have a lot of really specific ones, like schadenfreude.
In general, english seems like a very malleable language, where, while there's a lot of weird and finicky rules, as long as you follow the general flow of english, you can word things weirdly and still be understood. Even though you're ignoring rules and changing the types of words, it still seems to work. (Pretty sure I just used "word" as a verb there, so case in point)
Kinda crazy. This was passing through my feed last week:

Nope, he was fine.

He was still holding a portion of the ring on the floor. If his arm ever works again he might be shoving that piece of ring up somebody's ass buying those rings on Alibaba.
at first I thought both rings cracked, but the second failure was likely his shoulder joint.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5GkfA52CTo
He was fine. And the people later in the video do say, "Don't make a noise like that!" in relation to his wail LOL
"I'll remember that next time a ring breaks and I'm unexpectedly dangling from one arm and then dropped to the floor." Yep, thanks for the advice. BTW, this is not dissimilar to the sound I made when I tore my supraspinatus tendon into two parts.
That's the last part I would expect to break on this discipline.
Why don't they use metal? Or do they use it on high caliber competitions like the Olympics and this was just cheap equipment?
It's less cheap equipment and more heavily used equipment not being replaced enough (it consistently has to survive more then their bodyweight hundreds of times a day
If the still rings were steel, there would be a lot more injuries. Sometimes when dismounting, you wack your foot, and it would really suck if the rings were steel. Also, chalk sticks to the surface of wood and plastics better imo. Chalking up a high bar takes a long time
"You alright?" *Post Malone sounds*
This made me actually lol 🤣
Ditto! And I rarely experience happiness.
oh brother 😹

You meant gum, right? *Right??*

*OoOoOoOoOoOoOooh* I fall apart
this exact song, yes.
those o's are from [this version](https://youtu.be/AHaaaO4L1jk?si=wof0vYF_mngnZBnm&t=26) specifically
Goddamn you reached into another dimension for that joke. Lmao
you mean his arm/shoulder reached another dimension
"Congratulations"
Fucking LOL I've never actually laughed out loud like that at a comment. Bravo
I'm fuckin dead 💀
Seasons change and our love went coldddddd
What a great comment! Got me good.
Guess he don’t want to sober up to feel the pain
Watched it first with no sound, then had to go back after seeing your comment. Not disappointed lmao
Same. Laughed way too hard
Bro does no sound like he's alright 😕
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5GkfA52CTo He was fine. And the people later in the video do say, "Don't make a noise like that!" in relation to his wail LOL
Sounds like a mix of shock and briefly being winded by the sudden drop
Agreed, don't think it was 'for the camera' or whatever. And it *is* fortunate yet surprising that the shoulder of the arm hanging onto the ring that *did not* break is OK - might well be a bit sore once the adrenaline wears off!
It looks like he really did get lucky, because that was a nasty twist that the other arm went through.
The ring spins… That yank on the other hand🤨
Gotta love that panicked feeling of "I don't feel any pain... *yet*"
Very similar to anytime I get a large/serious enough cut to worry but it hasn't started bleeding yet from the shock response.
This reminded me of a line from a book, maybe even Eragon specifically, where an assassin tries to kill a soldier in his sleep, but the soldier happened to wake up and catch them approaching, and in the ensuing exchange the soldier believes he got out uninjured, only to look around and see people looking horrified at his stomach. seen too many motorcycle vids with a similar wail
I thought he fell on a goat
https://i.imgflip.com/8vl3pj.jpg
That's a I think I broke a bone noise. He definitely shouldn't be making it if he's fine. I agree with his buddy here.
they're telling him not to be injured / shocked / whatever, it's kinda messed up come on let my man groan in confusion and agony for a sec the way we police men is so weird
They should be telling him to swear like a trooper. It is scientifically proven that swearing helps pain relief.
His buddy saying what, exactly? didn’t say a damn thing just tapping yapanese
Do you want to rephrase this a bit more concisely? Your point is not clearly illustrated here.
Concisely: You're absolutely wrong and the evidence you cite for your claim is nonsense.
You've agroed onto someone because you misread my dude.
I was thinking badly pulled forearm muscles from the yank plus the fall - maybe a dislocated or broken finger or two.
Nothing that a little dirt and duck tape can't fix.
Add some ramen for it to last a while.
Too much sodium though.
The Salt is what keeps it all together...

Wow. New fear unlocked. Replace wooden rings often
WOOD?!
Yes

metal is also very slippery
So that's why all bench press bars are made out of bamboo
Yeah, and i never drop that as i swing it wildly over my head...

Yes, I absolutely would replace them.....
Yes i absolutely wood replace them
Yes I absolutely wood
Can someone please explain to me why they're wood instead of metal or plastic

This guy gymnastics
This Jim guynasts.
This nasty gym guy?
Couldn't they have a metal core for support and prevent breakage?

Probably could, but why? This is a pretty freak occurrence.
Metal would be a damn weapon lol they should definitely be using some kind of composite though.
Plastic rings exist but I HATED them. Very slippery
*Excellent work, Agent 47; your payment has been delivered to your account.*
Thank you.
110% pulled or tore something in his left arm, bro ragdolled
I’m not a native English speaker and just amazed by learning how literally any noun can be made into a verb. It’s a TIL day everday.
If you're not verbing, you're not englishing right
[Relevant Calvin and Hobbes](https://i.imgur.com/OdZpx.jpeg)
Thanks, I was looking for that strip yesterday. :D
Rule 1: any noun can be verbed Rule 2 \[British English\]: any two-syllable object can be used as an insult in the form of "You absolute \_\_"
You absolute Reddit.
Isn’t that fairly common? I only speak english and german, and it happens in both languages quite often in slang usages
Well, not that common in Hindi. Virtually non-existent. So, clever conversions of noun into verb like ‘ragdolled’ is not only fascinating to me but also comical. Ragdoll is actually both a verb as well as a noun.
Nope, he was fine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5GkfA52CTo He was fine. And the people later in the video do say, "Don't make a noise like that!" in relation to his wail LOL
A trained gymnasts shoulder should be able to take that
Rotator cuff for sure. 4-6 months of physio for that sonofabitch, once the (presumed) tears heal.
He was still holding a portion of the ring on the floor. If his arm ever works again he might be shoving that piece of ring up somebody's ass buying those rings on Alibaba. at first I thought both rings cracked, but the second failure was likely his shoulder joint.
Holy shit I hope it wasn't his shoulder. Those take a million years to heal
Can concur. Nine months later, 47 Physical Therapy sessions, I'm still not right.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5GkfA52CTo He was fine. And the people later in the video do say, "Don't make a noise like that!" in relation to his wail LOL
thanks for the full video, I'm glad he seems to be Ok. with respect to "Don't make a noise like that!" I would say that wail is justified.
He wanted to still be GOAT
"I'll remember that next time a ring breaks and I'm unexpectedly dangling from one arm and then dropped to the floor." Yep, thanks for the advice. BTW, this is not dissimilar to the sound I made when I tore my supraspinatus tendon into two parts.
Probably shorter to list the muscles he didn’t tear.
Angular momentum does some crazy shit
this is why we do not buy rings from Temu
My dude's grip strength is Goku level.
That was the most majestic fail I've ever seen.
Uhuhuhuh.
He was not alright
Wish.com rings
Lol never dropped the broken part of the hoop through all that flying around
How do you know when your gymnastics rings need to be replaced?
>How do you know when your gymnastics rings need to be replaced? When you need to replace the gymnast
No Olympics for him.
I'm so impressed that he still spun so gracefully and...gymnastically.
Spider man, spider man, doin the best that a Spiderman can.
He looked cool whilst falling tho, he should incorporate that spin into his act minus the falling part!
*pop* goes the ring *pop* goes the shoulder joint
Dude sounds like a wounded Wookie
We got a new Wilhelm scream
Probaly bought on temu
Lotta temu simps downvoting your comment.
Saw another vid of rings breaking like this, guy landed on 1 foot and his leg snapped in half at the knee like a flamingo
New nightmare unlocked. Just kidding. There’s no fucking way in hell I’ll ever do what this guys doing, so it’s nothing for me to worry about.
Ouch...
Did my guy just bust?
Boeing brand gymnastics equipment
Don't make that noise if you aint hurt I have to say it took a lot of strength to avoid a bad fall there.
Theres a second snap… but only one snapped ring… i think he mightve rly hurt something
I think his fingers clapped his hand when he lost his grip or the rope clapped
Full legnth video some annoying guy comes in and says that lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5GkfA52CTo
Ah i see lol makes more sense now. Have a good one
He didn’t really stick the landing, but I still give it an 8

must've been made in china
.....when in fact, he was not alright!
Your just too damn good for that ring!
I thought that was a crazy ass trick before I realized his rotator cuff and shoulder are no longer connected to his body
And that is why I don't work out
If this is a public gym and he got badly injured, he could probably sue for a whole lot of money.
That's the last part I would expect to break on this discipline. Why don't they use metal? Or do they use it on high caliber competitions like the Olympics and this was just cheap equipment?

How does the other shoulder and collarbone even survive that? I hope that poor man is okay now.
Damn, the law of physics betrayed you
And that's why there's padding under them. A lot of it.
I wonder if he has trust issues now
The ring broke, yay! Because I thought his arm was torn off for a sec there.
That was so bad, hope his alright
Watched three times in a row, got me giggling.
There goes your shoulder
That *fucken* huuuuurt.
What is the woman screaming at someone at the very beginning of the video?
Thankfully for him - it wasn't his hand that snapped.
/u/redditspeedbot <.50>
His left shoulder is not gonna be okay for quite a while. God I hate shoulder injuries...
New fear acquired.
That honestly looked really cool tho
That must have hurt like a motherfucker
I want to wtf that 2nd snap was!!! Did not sound good but the ring was fine???
I liked it! Do it again!
Bro got that grip, even when it broke he still holding on to the piece lmao
Ouch... That hurt my arms just looking at that. My condolences. I hope your arm is alright
Now you're rich
just throw some chalk on it!
You didn't think it was possible for something to break?
