If you're getting at least one interview per week, I don't think the issue is your resume! Your resume looks fine btw. My guess is the issue is the interview- maybe you need to improve? How are you feeling during the interviews? Any issues answering questions? Are you dressing for the job (if it's by zoom)? Are you following up with a thank you note? I'm not sure how to assess what's going on but maybe you could reflect and even do some research on ways to do a successful interview. Good luck!

Honestly, I think your resume is solid. As others have stated: add that you are actively pursuing CPA (regardless of present intent to actually pursue) and throw in a consulting gig from 2019 to present. I’m sure you’ve had a friend or family member ask you an accounting/tax/finance related question in the past 4 years, and you handle your personal finances, so it’s not “technically” a lie. Good luck to you! FWIW, I’d hire you based on what’s already on your resume. Hope you lock up a role soon!

I appreciate and will take your advice!

If you had your own LLC for an accounting business would you recommend listing that instead of a consulting gig?

STBCKNDRLX

Absolutely! You were self-employed, and the employment reference is obviously relevant.

maryland202

Why did your last accounting job end in 2019? Maybe try putting consultant in the meantime so we don’t see that gap of accounting experience.

Simple-Ad-8823

At the time I got offered a job that helped pay off my degree that was more flexible but was un-accounting related. Do you mean to change the job title?

maryland202

I see… I think if I were you I would add a new position that is titled accounting consultant from graduation to present. Describe it as an independent contractor and also reach out to temp agencies for short term accounting roles until something sticks. Also mention you are pursuing CPA license. Also try applying to internships and use your school career center. They should be able to help you get a job.

>If you had your own LLC for an accounting business would you recommend listing that instead of a consulting gig?

Prestigious-Help7789

Yes

Simple-Ad-8823

Okay. Thank you!

[deleted]

Do not do that because a consultant is a thing and OP is unemployed. He’s not consulting, he has no book of business, and if I see someone say that on a resume I’m going to ditch him ASAP.

Simple-Ad-8823

I'm employed it's not in the accounting field. I also have an LLC for my business. I wouldn't be making anything up.

Hungry_Dingo_5252

Remote roles have a lot of competition. Maybe apply for in-office positions? Your resume look fine to me although you should add whether you’re pursuing the CPA certification or have enough to sit for the exam etc. Firms don’t look at resumes that are not CPA potential or are not already CPAs.

Master_Bates_69

Remote positions are too competitive. There’s people from all over the country applying to them.

essuxs

If you’re getting that many interviews with no luck then you have interview problems, not resume problems.

[deleted]

Resumes are read and sorted by a computer these days. It probably thinks you went to the university of "detailed oriented". Cut out the "objective" and shot gun it around; I'm betting most systems tossed it out before anyone saw it.

Simple-Ad-8823

Will do! Thank you!

Babstana

I think you meant to say "Compiling" of financial statements; "Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Accounting Major" is redundant - those two jump out at me although there are also tense issues (switching back and forth between ed and ing in the same sentence. Not trying to be a wise ass but if you're saying you're detail-oriented, this needs to be letter perfect.

Simple-Ad-8823

Good catch! Thank you

ItzAlwayz420

I add a second page that includes a bunch of key words from the job description that can get picked up by the bots. When I show up for the interview I just use the 1st page.

SDChuck

You have years of working as an accountant. Move your education section below professional experience

razeus

My first couple interviews sucked because I hadn't interviewed in years. What I did was create a word document with the general interview questions, questions about my past/current work, questions about the job itself. I had solid answer to 90% of the questions, even the one where my experience wasn't a 1:1 match, but I was able to translate my current knowledge to theirs.

Simple-Ad-8823

This is definitely useful. Thank you!

[deleted]

It’s not rlly recruiting Szn rn for public id apply to smaller firms for exp

Simple-Ad-8823

Completely out of the loop. What are the hiring seasons for public?

buttergrip

Use a recruiter! They make the process faster.

[deleted]

You’re going to need to look for an office job hoss

FlynnMonster

First two contended of your objective aren’t really an objective. They are good details but don’t really belong in that section unless you reword to tie into the objective better.

[deleted]

Try RobertHalf.

certifiedjezuz

remote is highly competitive.

[deleted]

Im surprised you’re getting interviews that often tbh. Fully remote jobs are incredibly hard to get now. Good luck
