He didn't have any sex allegations, murder convictions or didn't partaken in a child trafficking's scheme. This has helped our profession out significantly.

ColeTrain999

But hear me out, what if he was the ACCOUNTANT for all these major crimes? Who better than the person at the very top? Bet he depreciated land on Little Saint James.

eribertocamino

I would reframe this as Avoided getting caught at.....

SomeoneNicer

... and thereby helped the profession.

Appropriate_Door_547

Or did get caught but expertly swept under the rug…

anonymousetache

... and thereby helped the profession.

IntelligentPurple571

He probably did all that on his yacht in international waters.

hero5211314

How do we know if he was not on that island? Guilty until proven innocent

ohhhbooyy

He only made a measly 2mill a year. Not enough to partake on Epstein’s island.

RaitoKurayami

Or maybe he earned more than that...

Bookups

If he had, he might have been fired which would have helped the profession

CageTheFox

He played a lot of golf if that counts. This man made bank while doing absolutely nothing. His wages were over [2 million](https://nonprofitlight.com/ny/new-york/association-of-international-certified-professional-accountants) a year lol.

eribertocamino

Thanks...this is depressing (paywall): [https://www.wsj.com/articles/SB105597180417977500](https://www.wsj.com/articles/SB105597180417977500) ....add private speaking fees to that.

greatestF

And don't forget the few hundred thousand bonus each year

batdrumman

Yeah, here's a bulleted list: • Hope this helps!

Nolimitz30

Can you sort that ascending to descending please?

boston_2004

I would wager he couldn't sort the list himself.

2Board_

Just PVT it and sort filter by A -> D.

andrude01

Review comments: Please change the bullet point from the filled-in dark circle to the white circle with black outline. Keep updates in tracked changes please.

FrontierAccountant

Increased AICPA revenue by selling new “give-away” credentials which misled those who hired these people into thinking the CGMAs had Global Management, Global Accounting, or Management accounting skills.

eribertocamino

I actually bought that for a year.....$159 I recall when it was new. It did have to fill out form.....

its-an-accrual-world

How the AICPA was able to do run a scheme that ran directly counter to the interests of its membership baffles me to this day, even despite a failed effort previously for a similar ‘X’ credential. The AICPA line their pockets and only fight for the dilution of the CPA credential.

FrontierAccountant

Directly counter to the profession's ethical standards which say we should no mislead clients about our qualifications.

Multipass_holder

It was a learn by example situation

dupeygoat

Yep it’s shit for CIMA members in UK and shit and stupid for you guys too. It’s outrageous what CIMA have done / are doing

thrust-johnson

“Who’s Who Among American High School Students”

dupeygoat

Font forget us UK CIMA members who have had our qualification and institute utterly degraded by this shitshow. Anyone who qualified previously makes no mention of CGMA we still just use ACMA designation and pretend it never happened.

duckingman

Does ACMA/FCMA designation discontinued now? I thought CGMA was addition not replacing existin designation.

dupeygoat

New CIMA members will soon not get the ACMA designation, only CGMA but prior members will still keep ACMA.

duckingman

dang, they really managed to destroy century old heritage for few quick bucks.

JohanVonGruberflugen

The buzz is the CPA is trending toward giveaway status with the 150 elimination likely and other sliding standards to fill the pipeline. Prestige be damned.

HSFSZ

Leaving

eribertocamino

I regret to inform you that the replacement will be no better. Possibly worse.

HSFSZ

Well damn. Thought it would be tough to top the declining enrollment, stagnant wages, increased workload & continuous off shoring of entry level positions 🙃

eribertocamino

Let's not forget the Feed the Pig Campaign: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPI0mOM2sbw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPI0mOM2sbw) This is an active web page at the AICPA: [https://us.aicpa.org/volunteer/financialliteracyresourcecenter/ftp-tipsforpromoting](https://us.aicpa.org/volunteer/financialliteracyresourcecenter/ftp-tipsforpromoting)

Goofy_momma7548

What the actual fuck? "One on one, mention Feed the Pig to your colleagues, interns or summer college students in the 25-34 age bracket. Follow up with emails that include links to www.FeedThePig.org." All those interns and "summer college students" age 25-34!

pprow41

I'm assuming it's probably someone that worked under him.

greatestF

And possibly just as old

bierbottle

Real MVP

wholsesomeBois

I believe he lobbied government against accounting having mandatory overtime pay

eribertocamino

Shill for the big firms.

DoritosDewItRight

Yep: https://us.aicpa.org/advocacy/cpaadvocate/2016/aicpa-reacts-to-dol-overtime-rule

yuh__

The replacement will be worse id imagine. AICPA is full of crooked shits

eribertocamino

Summary of accomplishments so far: He played a lot of golf while making $2 million per year. He didn't get caught in any sex scandals, murder convictions, or didn't get caught child trafficking....yet. He wasn't on the Epstein Island travel list. Here's a bulleted list: • Leaving Feed the Pig Campaign Fake CGMA credential Failed XYZ credential 150 Hour Requirement aka University Revenue Grab Lobbied government against mandatory overtime pay for accountants aka Shill for Big Corporate. Raised cost of the CPA exam to a month's housing and food just to get on the testing list. Made me realize that I didn't want to be a CPA. Barry Melancon aka Care Bear

InitialOption3454

Defund AICPA, cancel your memberships.

Goofy_momma7548

Despite my employer offering full reimbursement I do not pay.

PianoObvious6824

seriously. Giving money to a organization that lobbies for your bosses bonus's best interest and for you and your fellow middle class working accountants to be thrown onto the street is like shooting yourself in the foot.

bertmaclynn

My tax professor was an ex-Big 4 partner who hated the AICPA. So I don’t think the AICPA even does a good job lobbying for anyone in the profession.

Cat20041

Am I the only CPA in the US who doesn't pay for an AICPA membership? Who wastes their money on this?

Tbagg69

When I was at a redacted PA firm I was forced to be a member so we could put in on engagement items. I was never going to be reimbursed so I didn't do it.

bertmaclynn

Big 4 requires everyone to have a membership. They reimburse you for it. I wouldn’t be surprised if most national firms did the same.

Accountantnotbot

Can’t - it’s tied to some pretty rad insurance products

NewtoFL2

He helped pave the way for private equity firms to own public accounting firms. Supported offshoring work to India.

PianoObvious6824

Does lobbing for Corporate and Executive interests by supporting AI, Offshoring and unchecked profession-wide blatant exploitation of salary-unpaid-OT count as "meaningful"

Robert_A_Bouie

150 hour requirement is pretty meaningful. Anyone remember the "XYZ" debacle? Didn't get his way on that one so decided to water-down the credential with the CGMA merger.

Paltheos

Certainly meaningful, if not helpful.

eribertocamino

What was the XYZ thing? I totally forgot about that.

Robert_A_Bouie

It was something that Barry Melancon & AICPA cooked-up back in 2000. The XYZ "Cognitor" was proposed as a new "multidisciplinary credential" for business professionals. AICPA membership voted on it and shot it down in 2002. I remember that we had to mail in our ballots. They wouldn't fit in the little envelopes they sent us without folding them up in strange ways.

eribertocamino

You have a much better memory than me. Now that you explained this, I remember the vote now.

Rico1958

I never have been a member of the AICPA, because I never could find any value in being one. If someone knows of some value to a membership, some tangible benefit, please enlighten me.

Intelligent-Search88

Umm.. the life insurance is cheap. That’s about it

Hot-Sea-1102

His retirement is the only good thing this fuck has done.

Underrated_Potato

“Years of service”

elgroot007

Why do we have boomers keep taking over leadership roles? Honestly, they are clueless about what needs to be done to improve this profession.

Goofy_momma7548

They've been in leadership for far too long

MemberBerry42

They want us spending our life working so they can continue taking up leadership spots.

VienAlthea

Why is the test easier but still costs a months sacrifice of housing and food to get on the testing list

thenerdycpa

Y’all need to show more respect for Care Bear. Don’t forget AICPA dues are due soon. ✨

eribertocamino

Care Bear is on point.

Goofy_momma7548

I don't know a single thing about him personally but the AICPA and their fake credentials and their CGMA bull crap piss me off. CGMA and all of those other credentials mean nothing at all

Nolimitz30

He’s making the same face I made when trying to answer the question of what did he do that was meaningful

CoatAlternative1771

Absolutely fuck all

Confident-Count-9702

The profession is worse, and he has had a significant part in it.

Letsgodubs

Not an accountant but f this guy.

clbemrich

I heard that he advocated for three ply tp

IntelligentPurple571

As a former employee of AICPA, I can say this dude can fuck himself. He is just as much of a piece of shit in person. This company is a scam.

ItzAlwayz420

If he had anything to do with ASC842, he should be tarred and feathered.

burneracct239

Well, he retired, so there's one good thing

finiac

Google white male accountant and this is the most accurate image you will get

CrAccoutnant

Made me realize I don't want to be a CPA in public accounting and left for government now making me realize I don't want to be a CPA anymore.

Goofy_momma7548

Ummm if you put in the hours, don't throw away the credential. Keep doing your CPE and keep the letters, no matter where your career takes you

destra1000

Retire.

whohebe123

Looks like a chode, is a chode

Money-Honey-bags

he did noting ! All of them do nothing there is no ""LEADERSHIP" THERE ARE ONLY titles so one knows whos asrse to kiss

TestDZnutz

Not what you want to see before a 6 month score release, but alright.

Monis8227

Can someone teach me this skill.. not doing anything and still being famous.. i am tired of husing and not getting dues 🫠

Marsupial-Famous

I only know Barry McCockner

Informal_Quit_4845

Fuck him … raised the professional dues to line his pockets 😂

The_Mcgriddler

Shipped a lot of jobs to India. It's improved India, at least.

IntelligentPurple571

The jobs went to Malaysia. AICPA outsourced most of their roles to Accenture. The jobs that weren't outsourced to Accenture got outsourced to Ernst and Young.

VienAlthea

So is it wrong if I make a go fund me or am I setting myself up for disaster and self disappointment when no one contributes to my cpa license….. I get clients a lot of them, but money trickling in doesn’t covering the expenditure- do you think I should offer a ROI to those who contribute to my career boost because longevity doesn’t mean shit in this career. I did my first tax return 19years old before even taking tax 101, I don’t come from a family of accountants, let alone college graduates. Pretty sure my dad wouldn’t have graduated high school if he was born ten years later.

Mikhail_Petrov

He helped lead the charge to digitize the CPA exam and is a Nicholls alumn…Geaux Colonels!

Adahla987

I had breakfast with him once in Lansing, MI while I was working on my MAcc. He was a great spokesperson for the profession.

echo2260

I heard he was the prime QC guy when it comes to testing dragon dildos.

greatestF

And much more
