How the AICPA was able to do run a scheme that ran directly counter to the interests of its membership baffles me to this day, even despite a failed effort previously for a similar ‘X’ credential. The AICPA line their pockets and only fight for the dilution of the CPA credential.

It was something that Barry Melancon & AICPA cooked-up back in 2000. The XYZ "Cognitor" was proposed as a new "multidisciplinary credential" for business professionals. AICPA membership voted on it and shot it down in 2002. I remember that we had to mail in our ballots. They wouldn't fit in the little envelopes they sent us without folding them up in strange ways.
I never have been a member of the AICPA, because I never could find any value in being one.
If someone knows of some value to a membership, some tangible benefit, please enlighten me.

The jobs went to Malaysia. AICPA outsourced most of their roles to Accenture. The jobs that weren't outsourced to Accenture got outsourced to Ernst and Young.
So is it wrong if I make a go fund me or am I setting myself up for disaster and self disappointment when no one contributes to my cpa license….. I get clients a lot of them, but money trickling in doesn’t covering the expenditure- do you think I should offer a ROI to those who contribute to my career boost because longevity doesn’t mean shit in this career. I did my first tax return 19years old before even taking tax 101, I don’t come from a family of accountants, let alone college graduates. Pretty sure my dad wouldn’t have graduated high school if he was born ten years later.

My tax professor was an ex-Big 4 partner who hated the AICPA. So I don’t think the AICPA even does a good job lobbying for anyone in the profession.
