Fucking cyclists hey, the worst of the worst.

[deleted]

Riding around with their helmet cameras, intentionally interfering with drivers and passive aggressively starting conflicts

[deleted]

Even with the bike lane, I’m sure the Lance wannabe was using the whole lane.

ElenaEscaped

That was my take. There's a bike lane, so why would they still be blocking traffic? I'm assuming they just couldn't bear not to be next to their BFF Jill, some assclowns are this way too, especially with informal road running events. I called once when those Super Special Snowflakes were running SIX ABREAST. I felt bad because I love the sport and support their sponsor, but it was unsafe and ridiculous.

He was upset because he didn’t want to wait at the roundabout

Far-Entrance-1377

*But how else am I gonna get my rage endorphins?!?!?!?*

dansuckzatreddit

Because liberal bad or something and exercising is for libs

Cornelius_Poindexter

FYI this sub has a lot of bad takes.

Excellent_Joke_8833

Imo it depends on where the cyclist was. If he was in the bike lane then, no, it wasn't his fault and dude in the car is an idiot. If the biker wasn't in the bike lane? Yeah Fuck that dude.

tremens

There are no bikelanes in roundabouts, at least not any that I've ever seen. Where bikelanes exist and encounter a roundabout, the bike lanes merge into the standard vehicle lanes and the bikes are traffic just like everyone else. If you watch the whole video, it's apparent the cyclists were in the roundabout, the driver entered the roundabout and then passed them - passing is also illegal in roundabouts, minimum distance laws etc aside. Granted we only hear that from the cyclists, but not once does the motorist dispute any of those assertions.

Excellent_Joke_8833

Thanks! There's only one roundabout anywhere near me and it's right off of an interstate so you never see a bike on it so I wasn't sure. I appreciate you informing me.

nzoasisfan

Who knows.

Grabbsy2

This subreddit goes out of its way to have ass-backwards takes on just about everything. It would be funny if it wasn't just... every single time. How in the world other people watched this video and sided with Billy Bob, I'll have no idea.

tomacco_man

All of the other feral bogans in this sub are siding with Billy Bob

Fucking driver is worst of the worst, scum bags who feel they own the road jump to support scumbag drivers.

[deleted]

Cyclists often completely ignore or are ignorant to road laws that appy to them. I have to put up with it all the time where I live. It's easier when there's zero enforcement, cops here don't give a shit.

user8413

“Cyclists” could easily be replaced with “drivers” in your statement

AshingiiAshuaa

True. Hammer them all.

jmerlinb

And 8/10 drivers regularly exceed the speed limit. But bikes and cars are not the same. A bike crash is several orders of magnitude less damaging than a speeding car, to all involved. It’s not even worth comparing. Cars the most dangerous things on roads, and counter-opinions are pure whataboutism.

mcmuffin103

It is worth comparing. Would you like to get hit by a bike going 40 mph/ 65 kmh? I know I don’t want to be. In NYC for example, cyclists are required to stop at stop signs and red lights the same as cars, yet almost every time I’m walking, at the major roads there’s a cyclist who will blow through the stop signs or red lights if they don’t immediately see a car coming. I’ve almost been hit several times because of people flying by on their speed bikes, or people braking right as I’m going to cross and getting upset with me for walking when they’re trying to break the law. If I get hit by a bike going as fast as some of these people go I’m likely to have broken bones or cuts. Who knows if the people riding these bikes going in excess of the speed limit are insured or capable of paying for the injuries they cause (there are plenty of bicycle accidents so don’t tell me it’s not a thing like others have tried to). In addition, in the city I live in, a cyclist could be riding on the side of the street and suddenly swerve to their left into traffic without signaling in anyway (happened to me two days ago) causing people to have to slam on their brakes. The speed limit isn’t high in my city, only 25 in most places, but going from 25 to 0 in a second in the rain is still dangerous at that speed. It is absolutely worth pointing out that bikes can be dangerous as well, and just because cars are more dangerous doesn’t mean bikes are not. If you claim otherwise just because you ride a bike and say you follow rules it doesn’t excuse others who are more reckless and irresponsible.

[deleted]

>40 mph/ 65 kmh Oh really, you regularly encounter cyclists going at top speeds of world class cyclists during races? or are you just not that good at estimating speed?

FNtaterbot

This is a great argument for bike riders to be nowhere near the road

jmerlinb

Yeah that was kinda the point of the response to the other commenter

Prometheus2012

I figured it out: people do things. It was the god damn people doing things the whole time!

conman526

The question is do they ignore them, or do they just not stop because there is not another car at the intersection they would need to stop for? If the latter, yes they should stop, but it is annoying to stop and then resume on a bike if you do not need to. I cycle frequently (good bike infrastructure near my house which helps these issues!) And when I encounter a stop sign ahead I ask these questions: how busy is this intersection? Is there another car there or one approaching? Does the car see me? Make eye contact. Slow down as I approach the stop sign and look all directions. Proceed slowly if no cars present. If cars present, come to a complete stop or slow down ever further to make it obvious you're not a jerk and follow the road laws at stop signs. Let driver thru since they were first. If I'm approaching first, make eye contact with the driver and monitor them closely to see their intentions. Often they will try to wave you through even if they have right away. If it's safe for them to wave you through, continue slowly. If not, come to a complete stop and wave them through. If you don't have the first turn through, wave them through anyways since that's the law. Where's your stat backup on 8/10 cyclists ignoring a stop sign? I bet you that most do not ignore them, but rather take similar steps above.

coyote10001

This is the dumbest shit I’ve ever heard in my life. “It’s annoying to stop and then resume on a bike if you do it need to” yea it’s fucking annoying to do the same in a car! It’s terrible for gas mileage, but it’s the fucking law so we stop anyways. You’re the exact person that the guy you replied to is complaining about.

ImpossibleAgent07

Isn't there signs specifically allowing cyclists to do so ? E.g. m12 in France

aChileanDude

Nah, you hit another car that the driver did not check his /her mirrors, bumper gets bent. You hit a cyclist? You get them killed.

[deleted]

Not really. I see hundreds (thousands?) of cars every day and the majority of them are driving properly. When I see bicyclists, though, about half of them are doing something that they obviously know they shouldn't be doing (ignoring a bike lane, running stop signs and red lights, riding the wrong way in a one-way bike lane, etc). Are there bad drivers? Yes, absolutely. But the ratio of bad to good drivers is far more balanced than the ratio of bad to good cyclists. It's almost like, as soon as they don't have the protection of a metal car around them, their entitlement shoots all the way up and they think they can ride however they want.

FlySociety1

Grab a chair, place it on your nearest busy roadway, get comfy, and watch how virtually ever single car is going well above the posted speed limit, rolls through stop signs & does not come to complete stop on a right on red. If you think the majority of motor vehicle drivers are driving properly then you are completely and utterly blind...

[deleted]

The majority of cars do not roll through or ignore stop signs. Minor speeding is not a major violation. Going 5-10 over is only a problem in a collision and, even then, not likely to make much of a difference. Running a stop sign or stop light is a potentially major issue, since it directly *causes* accidents. You're basically comparing apples to oranges, or marijuana to meth. Not all traffic violations are equal and your focus on speeding is disengenuous at best.

FlySociety1

Quite the rosy picture you're painting of Motor vehicle drivers right now. So just so I understand what you're trying to say, Cyclists breaking the rules is a major issue but it's disengenuous at best to say Motor vehicle drivers also break the rules by saying they regularly speed or roll through stops? Very interesting. Except virtually every study that has been done on this subject shows that Vehicles and Cyclists break the rules at similar rates. You are right though, it is an apples to oranges comparison. While both vehicle types break the rules at similar rates, the liability and potential impact to other users of the road falls overwhelmingly with Motor vehicle drivers. To the point that vehicular accidents/crashes are a leading cause of death globally. According to you speeding is a minor traffic offense, yet according to the NHTSA, it is the single greatest reason for traffic accidents and fatalities. Followed by driving under the influence, distracted driving, failure to yield etc... and the list goes on. All offenses that drivers regularly commit. Like I said just sit your ass on a lawn chair near any major roadway or intersection and you will see it constantly. Ironic that you speak of entitlement, it's almost like as soon Motor vehicle drivers have the protection of a metal cage around them, they have no regard for other users of the road and drive in all kinds of reckless and dangerous manner.

Ancient_Boner_Forest

Nah, it’s different. I will run a red light on my bike for example when I would never do that in a car. I will of course always stop and look and would never go when I might inconvenience another driver, but I see other bicyclists that do not take this seriously enough. Side note but I also think it’s ridiculous how some bicyclists will take up the whole road just because they legally can. When I’m riding I make every effort I can to not inconvenience people.

coyote10001

Why would you run red lights on your bicycle? You’re just asking to get t-boned from the perpendicular road at that point.

Ancient_Boner_Forest

As I said, I stop and look. I have eyes so I don’t see how this is asking to get t boned.

Alleeeexx

And they have to put up with sharing the road with multi tons death boxes, the problem is the lack of proper infrastructure

polaralo

They've added a lot of bike lanes where I am (Ottawa) and still cyclists most of the time are on the sidewalk or in the road. Seems the food delivery cyclists and kids are the only ones that use the bike lanes.

SupraEA

Drivers often completely ignore or are ignorant to road law that apply to them.

Orkney_

>Cyclists often completely ignore or are ignorant to road laws that appy to them. In my neck of the woods it's motorist who don't follow rules because they seem to be much more important. Had some dickhead clip me from behind on the bycycle lane because he ran a red light and didn't want to wait for the next green.

tjippo

Now he is delaying himself right?

NecramoniumZero

Reminds me of the Russian YouTube channel Stop A Douchebag where they try to stop people driving and parking on the sidewalks in Moscow and Saint Petersburg. People constantly berate them stating they can drive/park on the sidewalk, and their excuse is that they "are in a hurry", but got more than enough time to argue with them for minutes or even a hour.

Snotteh

In such a rush that hes Frustrated about being delayed but still has time for a 6min argument with strangers...fool

StoneCold70

Don't blame the cyclist, blame the horrible infrastructure and roads that cater to cars, and shame on the guy for not being able to deal and respect other people.

TechnoLogicPC

I can blame 2 things thank you

[deleted]

Yes thank you

tremens

There appear to be bike lanes there, so there's at least some infrastructure. The issue is that the conflict occurred at a roundabout; every roundabout I've ever seen that has bike lanes leading up to them has the bike lanes merge into the normal traffic lanes, then the bike lanes start again after exiting. It's too dangerous to have cars and bikes riding alongside each other in roundabouts because of the exiting, so the traffic lanes file them in together then separate them on the other side. Driver just didn't want for cyclists to clear the roundabout, probably cause he mad cause he's got a bullshit ass job and he late for his bullshit ass job, so he entered the roundabout after them then overtook them in the same lane.

AintGotNoTimeFoThis

Those cyclists are just getting exercise on roads made for vehicle travel. Don't blame society for not building free infrastructure to support your hobbies.

Entomoligist

It isn't a hobby. Many of us get to work on a bike.

skykingjustin

I can neatly guarantee there Australian and we have some infrastructure

Agreed, I saw it was 6 mins long and decided no, I'm not watching this. I will learn nothing of value and found all parties irritating.

Parson1122

He is in such a hurry he stopped for a 8min chat?

skykingjustin

If they were already in the round about they did have the right of way. He's just being impatient because it took 20secs to cross the lane instead of 5. And I hate cyclists that hog the road

Parson1122

So stop to make an 8min video?

gincecko

I wish he'd argue off the road a bit more, its making me uncomfortable

ConflictGrand4078

Can I get a highlights clip or something I’m not watching a 7 minute argument lmao

Torre_Durant

My man wants an award or a prize for not running them over. Be frustrated by cyclists on the road for a minute and just go on about with your day like the rest of us

thrownawayzss

examm

And I’ve seen way too many cyclists be absolute dickheads on the road to automatically think they weren’t probably cycling like dickheads.

fuber

Imagine being this triggered for having to slow down for 2-3 seconds

MidsommarSolution

Not gonna lie, I don't know how bike lanes became a thing. I live in the city that the US Olympic Cycling Team trains in, and you'll see the entire team out riding and somehow they know to ride single file and they never impede traffic. Then there's Jodie from Arkansas who's not used to the altitude who rides in the middle of the lane because she crammed herself into that ridiculous biking gear and she's EXHAUSTED. Jodies never take the path that's right next to the very narrow, winding road. Robert with the DUI at least knows to take side streets and will ride on the sidewalk to avoid cars. Bikes are expensive, they get stolen, the vast majority of people who ride them on busy public streets should not be riding there because they genuinely impede traffic ... like ... what was the thought process that went into allowing bikes on busy roads?

ShallowJam

Wouldn't bike lanes be a solution to your problem?

AudaciousCheese

Issue with bike lanes is by US law you have to give bikes more space than you can in your lane to pass them. As such. You either have to slow down quite significantly to pass them(which is illegal, but far safer than nothing) or veer off into the other lane to pass them, and if there is oncoming traffic, you have to drive quite slowly, to wait for them

DeemOutLoud

So wouldn't a dedicated smaller lane specifically for bikes separate from the car lanes solve the issue you are describing? That way bikes can go at their own pace and only have to worry about passing other bikes while cars do the same.

AudaciousCheese

Yes. Only issue with that is space. Especially in any area that’s already been developed in the 20s-80s with cars in mind, and then sidewalks for pedestrians that bikes can’t get on. Part of a street where I live got rid of one lane to give a 5 foot dividing line between car lane and bike lane, which would be ideal if space permits

rsplatpc

> Robert with the DUI at least knows to take side streets and will ride on the sidewalk to avoid cars. and Roberts bike has it's handlebars turned upside down for comfort

mizu5

It’s so weird how I’m this subreddit you see cyclist and immediately shit on all cyclists as if this driver isn’t clearly in the wrong. Whh y’all so pressed by bikes that you really gonna agree with this person, the. The cyclist are just following their local Laws? Lol

new-acct-whomst-dis

fuck man the camera man is actually annoying as hell

Peaksii

Cyclists see nothing wrong with holding up 15 cars on a small road with tons of curves. They just Conti to cycle at 5mph on a 35mph

Walv1s

You should try road biking, it will make you realize why (road) cyclists do this real fucking fast. Especially in primitive countries like the US, where drivers do not understand that cars don't own the road, the choice is between constant near death experiences from drivers not giving you enough space when they force a risky overtake, or being perceived as an asshole by a stranger for 30 seconds because you are ensuring drivers cannot perform dangerous overtakes. There are way to many idiot drivers who think that, just because a cyclist is all the way to the side of the road, its safe to overtake them.

Peaksii

Yeah but if you holding up like 15 people in cars just stop and move the fuck over. Most bikers are going at a snails pace while others are trying to get to work or school. If you’re a biker and there’s multiple cars behind you. Just move the fuck over its not hard

Communismsmellsbad

If the cyclist is moving so slow why not just safely pass them?

Peaksii

The road I’m on with the bikers is windy as hell. There is no safe way without the possibility of crashing headfirst into another car. But there’s tons of opening for a bike to stop on the side of the road

a-very-angry-crow

Because they only ever do this shit on roads with constant bends that make overtaking impossible

Skylar2k5

Or how about instead of going 10 in a 50 on a bike, I’ll just drive.

a-very-angry-crow

Cars kinda do own the road Considering it was kinda made for their use, and the owners of the cars pay for it and it’s upkeep, something cyclists generally don’t do because they only care about themselves General rule of thumb, if something is bigger and heavier than you, it has right of way Even still, disregarding all that, the issue isn’t that cyclists use the roads, it’s the fact that they are selfish cunts about it I have never once seen a cyclist go “hmmm there’s a line of cars behind me, I should give way to stop a 4 mile long line of traffic” it gets even worse when they have the cars in front of them, thereby making it even harder to pass them out, that is cunt behaviour no matter how you look at it People wouldn’t have problems with cyclists if they weren’t pompous cunts about it, kinda like how motorcyclists don’t get as much shit for using the road because their parents taught them how to share

[deleted]

Yup, I can't stand them for this very reason, selfish cunts

Crash15

Chad. Fuck cyclists

Unwoven_Sleeve

I’d buy him a servo pie and a dare. Legend

mchch8989

You’re not wrong. Cars are the most dangerous things on roads. Though that may have something to do with the fact that roads literally exist for the use of cars, and therefore the absolute majority of modes of transport used on roads - and statistically the most dangerous - are cars. I cycle on busy roads all the time, and much like how about 50% of drivers are arrogant tossbags who don’t give a fuck, 50% of cyclists are arrogant tossbags who don’t give a fuck. The difference being that if there is an incident, the cyclist will be the one who is much more likely to get injured, so why they wouldn’t be extra cautious as opposed to entitled and arrogant makes literally no sense.

HarryPFlashman

I agree with man- I hate bicyclists. Slow, barely obey road rules themselves, and expect you do watch for their dumbass. So downvote away bicycle morons.

Alternative_Mention2

With pleasure dickhead.

HarryPFlashman

I upvoted you- because you typify the bicycle mindset. Self absorbed pricks who want the world to flow around their stupid slow asses. Ride on paths or trails.

Alternative_Mention2

We’ll ride where we are legally allowed to pal. That’s the idea. And encouraged. Don’t like it? Piss off to somewhere where they don’t allow it. It’s not gonna change. Doesn’t mean some cyclists aren’t wankers. But there’s plenty of drivers who are as well. You do know that cyclists are also drivers, yeah?

HarryPFlashman

There are many things legal yet annoying. yodelling in public farting on a subway calling everyone “captain” or “sport”. these are analogous to bikers.

cbzmplays

Cyclists think road laws don't apply to them so fuck them. If cities were bike friendly then it would be the other way around if cars were starting to be used more and more

SupraEA

Drivers think road laws don't apply to them so, so fck them

cbzmplays

Those are just bad drivers. Every biker I've ever encountered has been nothing but a danger to themselves and others on the road

Unwoven_Sleeve

They wanna be protected by the law but not constrained by it

Brazilator

The guy fucked up and is flustered about it, not saying he's in the right, but damn, those cyclists seem like infuriating people too.

jmerlinb

Yeah true, but I would say they’re right for filming as this driver is clearly and aggressively attempting to intimidate

Every now and then you’ll get the one cyclist with an IQ above their shoe size that actually pulls over and lets everybody pass but that’s rarer than seeing a sober bogan.

_LickitySplit

Cyclists would be the ones that have to go in my utopia. Talking about cyclists that wear the gimp like suits with all the sponsors on it like they're in de tour de France. Biggest pieces of shit.

Complaining he was delayed, yet had the time to stop and have a discussion? Also, I get that chuckling is great exercise and all that. Why do they have to wear the spandex of not in an official race? That's what bothers me most about cyclists. Just wear normal shorts and tee shirt. No need to squeeze into spammed when absolutely nothing is on the line!!

space_cadet_zero

fuck cyclists. i once had a cyclist follow me to a store because he was riding on a 3 lane HIGHWAY in the middle of the right lane(not a bicycle lane). naturally i beeped at him. 53 year old Philip could not handle that shit.
