It's more about how much the memory fades. What I thought was a defining moment long ago has become insignificant. The event itself becomes an echo, lingering around to remind you of the past. But there's no shelter in it, no pride, because you aren't that person anymore.
I wrote a paper in psych 101 about light levels effect on memory. The strength of memory being dictated by the amount of stimulus. The things we remember clearly are simply being bombarded by stimulus to the point of euphoria. Some of the most visceral memories we have ever had, don't linger because we had them in a quiet dark room.
I'd say anywhere from 10-30 because 10 years ago I wasn't even old enough to vote yet, 20 years ago I was just a wee child and then 30 years ago I wasn't even a thought.
It’s true! Summer as a kid lasted forever. I read that each year that passes represents a smaller percentage of a person's life as they get older. For example, a year at age 10 is 1/10th of a person's life, while a year at age 40 is 1/40th.
When you get to my age, time ceases to linear. As Billy Pilgrim would say it, I am "unstuck in time". The past is more of a mosaic, or a patchwork quilt. I remember everything at once and it is only with great effort that I can organize events in such a way as to satisfy a question like this.
depends on the topic.... "since your last medical physical" hugely different from "was this roof put on" or even "graduate hs"
42. Everything has blurred together at this point. You barely care about memories, just how they made you feel.
To me that’s the purpose of memories

I find the more euphoric/nice memories tend to be the clearest

15 years ago. Graduated high school in 2009.
I graduated in 08 and doesn't feel a long time. When I was a kid in the 90s feel a long time, not high school. For me at least
I graduated high school in 1999. I still don’t feel old and I remember memories from back then. But movies from 2022 and older feel old!!
I'd say 7 years and up.
30 but even that does feel long ago. One thing is true, time goes faster as you get older, 1 year now feels like a month 20 years ago.
