Teleportation so I can experience everything the world has to offer instantly; ultra intelligence so I can find the cure for diseases and the solution for world problems; Super talent e.g. Dave gilmour's guitar chops, roger federers tennis skills, chris cornell's voice. Those are just a few
I used to do that. Now I'm so content with my life, I lay down and 2-5 mins in I'm asleep.
I'm so excited at the new day I wake up and just go.
As someone who used to have 2 decades of on and off depressions it's really freeing
For real what is your secret? I so so dread getting out of bed. I wake up and instantly have so much stress and anxiety it feels like I have 20 different fire alarms going off in my head. Even if I got enough sleep.
r/hyperphantasia welcomes you.
I have several fan fics I work on as I fall asleep. Most of them are self-insert Mary Sue power fantasy for me. But others are serious works and I'm turning one into a book.
Works like a charm, only takes a couple of hours of laying in complete darkness. The anxiety of every minute going by and realizing you’re still awake is a real treat too.
Same same. People like to joke like “hey if we screw around you’ll be tired out”. No. You will be. I’ll be wide awake on my phone for a few more hours or reading to exhaust my brain again while you snore peacefully besides me.
Sounds kinda backwards, but your brain needs to be like 80% relaxed.
Having something like a show turned on low volume or a small fan, something that your brain can KIND OF pay attention too without too much energy, is the key to passing out.
Just enough to distract your thoughts but not too much to where the brain is stimulated and interested.
Put on some boring history or cooking videos at low volume.
muscle tensing/relaxing guided meditations usually do the trick for me! if you don't like meditations/listening to something while u fall asleep, u basically tense and release the muscles in ur body as u breathe in and out (tense on inhale, hold breath for a few seconds, release on exhale, take one deep breath before moving on to the next muscle group). i like to do right arm -> left arm, right leg -> left leg, tummy, back, and chest, and do my face last. do it until u fall asleep!
This!!!! I wake up the next day with a clear head and ready to start my day. Mediation is overlooked but once you practice it and continue to do it , it helps out with not just sleep but all around stresses in life !
I'm one of those lucky ones that can just fall asleep, it drives my gf insane. I don't think it's entirely by luck though I have some good habits.
Exercises regularly - This is huge in lockdown I didn't exercise it was very noticeable
consistent sleep schedule - again a big one, there's a reason you start to feel tired at a certain time of day
magnesium and vitamin D supplements
Read before bed (apparently changes your brainwaves, fuck knows)
No caffeine after lunch (caffeine sits in your system for up to 12 hours)
Keep stress down (obviously harder to do than say)
If all else fails rub one out, apparently that releases some sort of sleep related hormone.
I'd always heard about this stuff but never tried it. I assumed it was just something that helps the body somehow with its circadian rythm. Bought some recently and nope, within an hour I'm like wow, I feel sleepy. Not only that, but I kept waking up well rested before my alarms would go off, even if I didn't sleep till later.
I try not to take it every night after it worked so well though, because I figure I don't want to develop a resistance to it.
my boyfriend is the same! like what the fuck man. and if i wake up in the middle of the night, chances are I’ll be awake for a few more hours til I can fall back asleep or I’m just up for the rest of the day. Meanwhile if he wakes up in the middle of the night, he just goes right back to snoozing!
I lay down. Close my eyes. Open my eyes 8-12 hours later.
I don't know how I do it. I just close my eyes and go to sleep.
Doesn't matter if I am tired or not.
I could sleep for 8 hours. Get up. Go drink some coffee. Then lay back down. Close my eyes and go back to sleep.
Often a quick orgasm paired with an audiobook, specifically Neil Gaiman's *Norse Mythology.* In fairness, I don't usually need the orgasm, but what am I gonna not? Also, most of the time I avoid caffeine starting around 6
Fortunately I'm one of the lucky ones who can just close their eyes and fall asleep. Sometimes if I'm struggling then I'll do a DJ set at Club Bean and that'll help
I've been doing this thing called cognitive shuffling where you think of words or concepts that have no connection to one another. I find that it completely disrupts the narrative building muscle in my mind that causes me to stay awake and it allows me to fall asleep faster. Hope this helps!
Zinc and hydration has completely changed the game for me. I used to be worried about getting up in the night to wee so I’d stop drinking 4-6 hours before bed. Now I have to drink nearly 1 pint an hour before.
I have recently upped my sleep game. What has worked for me has been a sunset lamp ($5 from Amazon and it’s beautiful!), silk pillowcases, a drop or 3 of lavender essential oil, and 5 sprays of magnesium oil on my feet. Placebo or not (who cares if it works?!) I’ve been able to fall asleep within 15-20 minutes and stay asleep for 6-7 hours! Win!
Found a yt short some weeks back that said to do the alphabet in your head and pick a topic when you try to sleep.
Like fruit a for apple. b for blueberries c for cranberry or maybe cars a for alfa romeo, b for bently, c for citroeng and so on.
ive yet to get through the alphabet with it.
25mg cbd gummies for nights I cant fall asleep, but it’s a rarity. I’ve always been able to fall asleep and mostly get good sleep. Stop looking at your screens at least 30 mins, keep your sleep space dark and cool. I’ve read a hot shower helps bc the hot water wakes you up and then as your body cools off, it helps make you sleepy.
Prioritized sleep hygiene schedule. Activity during the day, a few minutes of sunlight in the morning, no caffeine after noon, magnesium and glycine an hour before bed, limited blue light at night
I listen to mindfulness.
I fall asleep..wake up eventually to take the ear buds out and then am able to get back to sleep more easily.
Then I also get that joy of looking at the clock and seeing I have many more hours to sleep before the next day.
I have used Bluetooth sleep phones for years now. It shuts up my overactive, but useless for sleeping, brain. I generally like to turn on a podcast but I've done music and sleep noises as well.
The cool thing is at the end of the year, my Spotify yearly stats makes it seem like I listed to Spotify for 8 hours a day every day 😂
sleep stories on the calm app (i think amazon music has some too or even youtube) or rain sounds
idk what music app you have but if you just search "sleep" you'll probably get a million suggestions/stories/sounds, etc.
I saw a video on IG recently that explained a simple trick to fall asleep easily - you pick a letter from the alphabet, then you count to 7 and think of a word that starts with that letter. You repeat this process indefinitely until you just drift off. Sounds stupid, but I've been doing it every night since, and I fall asleep so quickly it's insane. I even started choosing letters in alphabetical order, so tonight is A, tomorrow B, next day is C... My main problem falling asleep was thinking too much, my mind often races as soon as I touch the pillow, so I get anxious and start overthinking for hours... This little trick helps focus your mind on simple task so you cannot think about anything else.
I'm very lucky. Most of the time I'm playing Fallout 76 until about half hour before bed, I can feel myself getting tired, like my head gets heavier and heavier and I just know it's time. I organize my room so I can save time in the morning, then brush my teeth and lay down and check my bank accounts. Put on a video on YT, and usually I'm out within around 5 minutes. Sometimes if I drink a lot of water the day before I go to the bathroom at around 3. Most times though I don't wake up until my alarm at 4:00.
1) Spray your favourite perfume on pillow
2) slowly open your eyes and inhale air and then close your eyes and exhale air. You have to completely open your eyes. Do this exercise for like 10 minutes and your eyes will be super tired and you will be in deep sleep in no time.
This is the tested exercise for getting sleep and works 100% of the time.
I’ll use a sleep aid pill plus I “daydream” about some post apocalyptic scenario. I don’t know why, but I guess those types of movies/books have always appealed to me. It gets my brain into the right wavelengths. My wife on the other hand is asleep in like 90 seconds…
Very consistent sleep schedule: I can wake up at pretty much the same time every day, even without an alarm, and I just naturally get tired around the same time every night
In my college years when I needed to sneak a quick nap between classes, I learned that deep rhythmic breathing (similar to box breathing) can help ease my mind on the smooth road to sleep
If you put your hands over your head almost like you were relaxing in a hammock, you know, lay on your back hands behind your head, arms up it can get you there really quick, especially if you’re neurodivergent.
Stay off the screens an hour or two before bed. Don't even think of checking it for a second. Too much screen time causes overstimulation. I also would not advise reading/listening to something that is "heavy".
If you're thinking about too much about how to fall asleep, or whether you will be able to, or whether you'll wake up, or any sort of existential crisis, then you're gonna have a bad time.
I just tell myself that I'm having a little nap, sleeping to build energy to crush my goals tomorrow.
Make sure you're well trained (muscle fatigued), write down all your thoughts, no screens 1 hour before bed.
As I got older I found caffeine really impacts me. No longer can I have a coffee in the evening. Now I stop drinking coffee at 10am. I found this to be very helpful in sleeping better at night.
Weed.
Tho 2 hours of sleep are worth only 1,5 then...
Else, routine. Limiting screen time before bed and such. And I go to bed early, to watch TV in bed. At least I'll be in my sleeping position then.
I lay in bed, scroll reddit, youtube or discord for a bit, put on the calm app with rain ambiance then sleep for 4 hours until i am violently woken up by a PTSD induced anxiety attack.
My therapist told me the bed is only for sex and sleep.
I'm not having much sex so it's only for sleep.
I don't play video games on it as much as i used to. Sometimes i do it for comfort, but it's rare. I don't work from bed either.
I DO read before bedtime. And that is a routine that usually helps me get sleepy.
Especially if I'm tired from exercising that day. So yeah, exercise is a good one. I go for 40 minute walks and I'm sure that helps me get sleepy.
It's worth the time to look up sleep hygiene or CBT-I.
Some quick tips to try:
* No screens (phone or TV) within an hour of sleep time
* Take magnesium glycinate 1-2 hours before bed
* Take a warm shower 1-2 hours before bed
* Look up box breathing
* Try listening to a wind down routine (I use Headspace)
* Cool down your room to high 60s-low 70s
Godspeed.
Some tools I use as needed:
ASMR,
Melatonin (1mg, 1-5mg is most effective),
Yoga,
Meditation,
Brain dump,
Reading before bed (but not something particularly engaging or upsetting),
Weighted blanket (every night) and sometimes Hug Sleep Pod,
Air compression leg massager,
Low lights,
Orgasm
Sometimes someThc, every night I take Klonopin, remeron, pristiq. I have night anxiety that makes me have insomnia. I have to time when I take my meds for when I want to go to sleep. Take them about an hour before.
ADHD and ptsd so sleep is difficult
1)stay busy during the day and exercise, do not exercise immediately b4 bed though
2) don’t go to bed until sleepy and
3)do not watch tv or play with your phone in bed
4) put a blue light filter in your phone for when u break rule 2
5)play the song weightless
6)wank
7) do a meditation
8)read a book
9)hops and valarian tablets
10) lavender and hops pillow spray
If all of the above fails, get up a do something until feeling sleepy. Sometimes I’m actually just hungry and don’t realise.
Usually I can fall asleep right away because I work a manual labor job and am tired. But if I'm preoccupied with all my personal problems, I listen to this badly executed radio play I found online, and it bores me to sleep in minutes.
I have found a cool way to fall asleep using Vicks nasal/chest rub... put on each nasal entrance and a little under your chin, and breathing in is a lot easier and I believe it has something in it that helps you sleep.. it always works for me..
I exhaust myself with work and family stuff, then revenge procrastinate by squeezing in some me time at the expense of sleep. Then I crawl to bed exhausted and fall asleep in one tenth of a second.
I turn off the lights and put my head on the pillow.
No but seriously, I do but only because I've set it up well. Blackout curtains were a must. I've covered most little lights from tech in my room too. I have a ceiling fan going. I have a weighted blanket. I set the temperature to be cool.
Im also heckin tired by the time my head hits the pillow. I crack my back, let the spasms die down. I arrange to have one foot stick out from under the blanket on one side and the a whole knee to foot on the other side for additional temperature control.
Close my eyes lay down in bed, breathe deeply, start visualizing a countdown from 100 to 0 with digital numbers like a game clock. it's way more boring than counting sheep knocks me out every time.
Trazodone was my go to for 10 years but can’t get that at the moment. It’s a mixture of being exhausted, several hits of the weed pen, melatonin and magnesium. Either that or I need to be shot with an elephant tranquilizer
YouTube stories. Try Mr Creeps, creepy pasta, or Scary Juju. There are a bunch of others. I usually try to find 30 to 45 min stories. Seems to do the trick.
I focus on creating a calming bedtime routine, like reading a book or listening to soothing music. It helps to keep my room cool and dark and avoid screens at least an hour before bed. Sometimes, practicing deep breathing or meditation helps me relax and drift off more easily.
I sometimes put on rain sounds to keep me relaxed until I fall asleep. There are times I can't sleep despite being tired from a day's work. But that's what I do to get by, I keep myself busy that I'm so tired I could sleep right away.
I’ve had an on going story in my head for many years now and I just continue to add to it as soon as I close my eyes. I fall asleep pretty quick.
This is what I do. Mine is a fictitious version of my life where I have superpowers lol
what kind of powers do you have
Teleportation so I can experience everything the world has to offer instantly; ultra intelligence so I can find the cure for diseases and the solution for world problems; Super talent e.g. Dave gilmour's guitar chops, roger federers tennis skills, chris cornell's voice. Those are just a few

For real what is your secret? I so so dread getting out of bed. I wake up and instantly have so much stress and anxiety it feels like I have 20 different fire alarms going off in my head. Even if I got enough sleep.
What the hell is your secret?!?
Mine is exercising to exhaustion. Long bike rides or runs.
Tell us your ways
r/hyperphantasia welcomes you. I have several fan fics I work on as I fall asleep. Most of them are self-insert Mary Sue power fantasy for me. But others are serious works and I'm turning one into a book.
This exactly LOL! I thought I was the only one
I exhaust myself with thoughts of my past and worries over the future
See im trying to stop this. Its definitely exhausting
Works like a charm, only takes a couple of hours of laying in complete darkness. The anxiety of every minute going by and realizing you’re still awake is a real treat too.
Orgasm
Nature's sleeping pill
That just makes me more excited and makes it so it’s impossible to sleep
Same same. People like to joke like “hey if we screw around you’ll be tired out”. No. You will be. I’ll be wide awake on my phone for a few more hours or reading to exhaust my brain again while you snore peacefully besides me.
Orgasms just remind me how lonely I am
Sounds kinda backwards, but your brain needs to be like 80% relaxed. You guys are getting sleep???
Sleeping meds 🫠

My wife can do this and it aggravates the shit out of me. I'm just jealous, that's all.
my boyfriend is the same! like what the fuck man. and if i wake up in the middle of the night, chances are I’ll be awake for a few more hours til I can fall back asleep or I’m just up for the rest of the day. Meanwhile if he wakes up in the middle of the night, he just goes right back to snoozing!
Magnesium
On a pile of money with many beautiful women.
Ah, the King Solomon typa guy
More a Rainer Wolfcastle kinda guy, actually.
quit the damn phone for like 3 hours before bed do this for as long as it takes and be in sun first thing in the morning
My problem is that i dont know what to do 3 hours without a screen before bed :/
Read
Audiobooks on YouTube.
Same here! Usually within 15 secs of closing my eyes I’m sound asleep
Coffee naps! Best way to do it.
with my eyes closed
Often a quick orgasm paired with an audiobook, specifically Neil Gaiman's *Norse Mythology.* In fairness, I don't usually need the orgasm, but what am I gonna not? Also, most of the time I avoid caffeine starting around 6
White noise
After I comb a lifetime of regrets, I put my earplugs in and pass out.
Kratom
Keeps me awake!
Like everyone does, One eye open, fully loaded and cocked shotgun pointed at the door. String tied round my big toe connected to the window latch.
Fortunately I'm one of the lucky ones who can just close their eyes and fall asleep. Sometimes if I'm struggling then I'll do a DJ set at Club Bean and that'll help
ASMR works for me. But also, using my lamp instead of the head light from like 7pm on makes the transition to full darkness easier.
Fap or sex.
Fap?
Sex?
Sex?
Fap!
Fex
I've been doing this thing called cognitive shuffling where you think of words or concepts that have no connection to one another. I find that it completely disrupts the narrative building muscle in my mind that causes me to stay awake and it allows me to fall asleep faster. Hope this helps!
Zinc and hydration has completely changed the game for me. I used to be worried about getting up in the night to wee so I’d stop drinking 4-6 hours before bed. Now I have to drink nearly 1 pint an hour before.
I think of three good things in detail that happened to me that day and it relaxes me to sleep. Or a Xanax. Both work
Exercise during the day, no food too close to bedtime, good sleep hygiene with consistent habits. Doesn’t take long to pass out.
Sleep deprived
I have recently upped my sleep game. What has worked for me has been a sunset lamp ($5 from Amazon and it’s beautiful!), silk pillowcases, a drop or 3 of lavender essential oil, and 5 sprays of magnesium oil on my feet. Placebo or not (who cares if it works?!) I’ve been able to fall asleep within 15-20 minutes and stay asleep for 6-7 hours! Win!
Gabapentin. It also helps with RLS.
White noise by using a standing fan, or music
I close my eyes and breathe. Within 2 mins I’m out. My wife hates this little super power of mine 😁
Close my eyes
Alcohol
This is a bad idea. It makes you fall asleep sure, but it affects your REM sleep very badly.
Helps, but then I tend to wake up around 3AM for like a half hour.
weed..
I’m nearly 18 and Mommy comes up to read me a bedtime story about Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom
Serotonin
I just need some head in a comfortable bed, it could all be so simple
Skyrim soundtrack (minus the combat music, that'll have the opposite effect. Minus the dungeon music, that may induce nightmares)
Are you me?
Most of the time, I just turn around and fall asleep.
By pretending to be asleep
With youtube
White noise machine and I've cut back on afternoon caffeine.
Podcasts of random stories
I lay in bed, chair, floor, wall, tree branch and one instance standing and just fall asleep.
25mg cbd gummies for nights I cant fall asleep, but it’s a rarity. I’ve always been able to fall asleep and mostly get good sleep. i close my eyes and boom
Melatonin lol Or just stay awake for several days until I crash.
There are several podcasts dedicated to bedtime stories for adults, I used them for years when I was dealing with extreme insomnia.
Putting your phone away before bed, I've been failing at this so badly 😢 😫
Head
I don't.....
I lay in bed with my buddies on discord YouTube streaming app up playing free horror movies
Melatonin works wonders
Work 12 to 14 hour days outside in the Florida heat. I'm usually asleep before my head hits the pillow.
Melatonin and THC.
Close my eyes and relax and I’m asleep within a minute
With my eyes closed
I get up at 3:50 am and don’t see my house again until 5:00 pm….my biggest problem is staying awake.
Prioritized sleep hygiene schedule. Activity during the day, a few minutes of sunlight in the morning, no caffeine after noon, magnesium and glycine an hour before bed, limited blue light at night

A little Magnesium supplement.
Imagining my single ass in the arms of a tall woman
Lots of indica. Lots of it.
Codeine with anarex 🤣
ASMR
I plan how I'd spend my mega lottery winnings.
🕳️
Eye mask with ear buds in it. Audio book , pillow under knees, log roll pillow under neck. It’s more comfortable AND I put the damn phone down
Easy after a long day of work.
Weed, sleeping pills or masturbating
Headspace + a cool room
ZMA supplements every night before bed. I also get up early, so by 9pm I’m tired as fuck anyway
I have used Bluetooth sleep phones for years now. It shuts up my overactive, but useless for sleeping, brain. I generally like to turn on a podcast but I've done music and sleep noises as well. smoke weed, get off, put on a comfort show i've seen several times, out like a light
I play Nintendo in my bed until I am so sleepy. Or I listen to YouTube sleep meditation
that's the neat part, i don't

Alcohol, or sleeping next to my love ❤️
I listen to rain sounds on my Alexa Show device. I'll take a melatonin pill too sometimes. I'll be asleep in minutes.
sleeping mask really helps me
Magnesium, been taking it for 3+ years now, haven’t had too much trouble falling asleep.
Last night I took melatonin
Smoke weed

Just barely, struggling the whole time and praying to the gods of rest to let me get at least 5 hours. I thought everyone slept this way?
Some tools I use as needed: ASMR, Melatonin (1mg, 1-5mg is most effective), Yoga, Meditation, Brain dump, Reading before bed (but not something particularly engaging or upsetting), Weighted blanket (every night) and sometimes Hug Sleep Pod, Air compression leg massager, Low lights, Orgasm
Sometimes someThc, every night I take Klonopin, remeron, pristiq. I have night anxiety that makes me have insomnia. I have to time when I take my meds for when I want to go to sleep. Take them about an hour before.
Melatonin and sleepy tea..and if I'm lucky enough to get laid..that helps
meditate
History podcasts. Nothing puts me to sleep faster than a boring history podcast.
ASMR vids, I imagine the last time I got a haircut and the guy massaged my neck, doctors physical checkups, dreaming about annihilating my enemies
Gabapentin.
Leg workouts pre dinner, followed by pasta A LOT of pasta
ADHD and ptsd so sleep is difficult 1)stay busy during the day and exercise, do not exercise immediately b4 bed though 2) don’t go to bed until sleepy and 3)do not watch tv or play with your phone in bed 4) put a blue light filter in your phone for when u break rule 2 5)play the song weightless 6)wank 7) do a meditation 8)read a book 9)hops and valarian tablets 10) lavender and hops pillow spray If all of the above fails, get up a do something until feeling sleepy. Sometimes I’m actually just hungry and don’t realise.
I can sleep while doing heavy sports and training.
Benadryl.
Screens off 45-60 mins before bed, phone on dnd, lights off, and I focus on my breathing. I fall asleep in less than 5 minutes.
I exhaust myself with work and family stuff, then revenge procrastinate by squeezing in some me time at the expense of sleep. Then I crawl to bed exhausted and fall asleep in one tenth of a second.
Making scenarios in my head and magnesium oil on the soles of my feet.
Like a sleepy baby.
Read…. Never fails
Tranquilizers
Listening to a podcast or movie I've seen dozens of times so I don't have to focus on the plot.
Trazodone was my go to for 10 years but can’t get that at the moment. It’s a mixture of being exhausted, several hits of the weed pen, melatonin and magnesium. Either that or I need to be shot with an elephant tranquilizer
Take an edible.
YouTube stories. Try Mr Creeps, creepy pasta, or Scary Juju. There are a bunch of others. I usually try to find 30 to 45 min stories. Seems to do the trick.
Weed
Shut ma eyes and boom out like a light in like 5 mins
I focus on creating a calming bedtime routine, like reading a book or listening to soothing music. It helps to keep my room cool and dark and avoid screens at least an hour before bed. Sometimes, practicing deep breathing or meditation helps me relax and drift off more easily.
With great difficulty, I suffer with insomnia, have done now for over 10 years
White noise & crying. Sometimes a gummy.
I do audiobooks
Ummm alcohol, weed, ambien, vicoden or any mix of those
Mediation or yoga nidra.
I fall asleep to the sounds of the sea waves or rain, it's very relaxing.
We wait for somebody to questions like these to fall asleee..
ASMR! 😉
i need a fan blowing on me with a white noise playlist going
I sometimes put on rain sounds to keep me relaxed until I fall asleep. There are times I can't sleep despite being tired from a day's work. But that's what I do to get by, I keep myself busy that I'm so tired I could sleep right away.
Weed
Usually laying in a bed next to my precious. Ymmv
