Seems to be a pretty severe example of sleazy realtors using very favorable editing and for some reason occasionally slipping in a design render
Lowe’s shit inside and out, some exercise equipment in the garage, we just made ourselves an extra 200k!
You know how we look at houses from past eras with tacky design trends and say “how did they ever think this was good?” I feel like in 20 years we’ll be asking that about houses like OP posted, and other flips with the similar trend.
That time is now. Only the people flipping still think all that gray is a good idea. The interior design subreddits are full of people trying to bring life to their boring new gray homes. But they just bought a new house so they can’t afford to really redo things.
We bought a house in January that was not a flip. While we’ve had to do a lot of painting and pay more than we wanted for flooring, I think we got really lucky. (And our paint colors are awesome)
How about this one? I drive past it everyday and I remember it was for sale in 2019 for something like 210k as a fixer upper. It was much more traditional then.
Now it's a modern farmhouse nightmare that doesn't even work with the original design of the house. Plus they did no landscaping before selling it.

the bed and photos badly photoshopped in is making me lol
Wow! This property was vacated for at least a decade if I remember correctly. It was in terrible condition sitting there rotting. I imagine the new owners are new to the 'Ville.
Ever seen a septic backup into the yard/house? It’s a nightmare; but preventable.

It's such a a shame. A big old house like that and all of it's character is completely gone. If I could afford it I'd immediately start working on bringing back it's original charm.
Oh god that’s horrible. We were specifically looking for a century house and saw so many horrible flips while looking in 2020. Taking all the character out and doubling the price is sadly pretty standard.
We ended up in a gorgeous 1890’s farmhouse with giant wooden plank floors. Good luck!!
The inside is nice if it wasn't fake. It looks like those Rollercoaster tycoon games or when I play my design home app game. I am also over and never was a fan of white farm style homes with black accents.
This house has been on and off the market for years, all hovering around the same price point they seem determined to stick with despite it not selling. It’s not..bad, but I’m convinced it has a deep dark secret or something since it hasn’t sold.

The moisture on what looks to be the inside of windows in the one picture is concerning. You might also need to be a literal stick figure to wedge your ass on the toilet in picture 10. That looks like a mighty tight squeeze. The basement is also probably hiding some secrets.
And I also think the price point is the issue. It’s not enough house for someone in a $350-375k range, and it’s too expensive for for someone’s who’s max budget is $300k. I bet if they listed it for $299 they’d get bites but what do I know, I’m only an amateur real estate stalker.
Its way too small for what they are asking. The pictures are weirdly fuzzy. Its not even really a 1.5 story house. I think that's a big part of it. Plus no kitchen pictures means that its outdated.
Hmm I don’t know—it’s on a side street off Western and in the G’land school district both of which are desirable Id think. Maybe it’s super smushed in next to the neighbors or something.
We bailed on a flipped house in the Helderberg neighborhood years ago. They basically slapped a coat of paint on everything and put in stainless steel appliances, hoping to draw attention away from significant mold, plumbing, and electrical issues. There’s really a shocking level of dishonesty in the whole house flipping mindset. I believe we were the first of three retracted offers, I feel bad for whoever bought it
My favorite is the mystery pipe sticking out of the ceiling/wall in picture 29. This definitely looks like lipstick on a pig and I'd hope when they did this huge reno they updated the electrical and plumbing but we all know that wasn't in the budget.
It's horrible I HATE all the gray, and I hate the idea of paying double for those disgusting cheap looking aesthetics when I could have possibly renovated it myself to not look horrendous
When I was buying a home about 5 years ago( we looked at 40+ in the capital region), anytime we saw a home that looked like this, it's all flashy shit. Just flippers trying to make a buck, hack work done terrible. Hoping some poor soul was too dumb to look slightly deeper. They ruined this home, too. looks terrible
As a poor soul who bought a flipped house in the area four years ago, can confirm. We are still fixing the half-assed “renovations.” (As an example - we couldn’t figure out how to turn on the outside faucet, so we called a plumber to take a look, and after a couple of minutes he showed us that the faucet wasn’t connected to any plumbing. They literally just stuck a faucet through the side of the house and called it a day.)
I didn't buy a flipped house, but also still fixing stuff lol. The last owner (who I should have sued) didn't do anything right and just covered things up
It's all a bunch of Home Depot store brand junk that will fall apart in 3 years slapped together as fast as possible and then sold for a huge price increase. Everything in the house is monochrome because they're the cheapest materials you can get in bulk.
Garbage quality work. Zoom in to the pics as see the blotchy paint and fixtures not flush against the wall. Plus what others have said about ugly, generic style that will age badly. Plus who includes a picture that is JUST an enormous tv in the bedroom, or their own boring shirts and tacky cologne collection. Also it is absolutely not a great neighborhood. It's Voorheesville so it's not terrible but it is overall an old and unkempt area.
It’s a great neighborhood and, more importantly for its market value, a great school district. I don’t see any glaring craftsmanship issues from the pictures. The ‘style’ can be changed easily and cheaply with paint. Flips, like literally any other home, can be hit or miss. If the inspection on this house goes well the price they have it listed for is a steal.
I’m taking a pass on applying for a really good job I have an excellent if not certain chance of getting since I would lose all the salary increase and more in housing. Sad because I grew up in the area and all my family is in the CD including my elderly dad who I’d like to spend more time with but I just can’t. Staying in the most affordable but mega rural county in WNY. 😢
Edit: my current house is the same size as this one on 5 acres and would list for 1/3 this one. Purchased it right before the pandemic when I moved back to NY when interest rates were really low. And it has real wood floors not the fake gray Lowes stuff. I just live in the middle of nowhere is all.
Can whoever edited those pics touch up my tinder photos? Thanks!
Half of these photos feel like bad photoshops, like they don't look real
Seems to be a pretty severe example of sleazy realtors using very favorable editing and for some reason occasionally slipping in a design render Lowe’s shit inside and out, some exercise equipment in the garage, we just made ourselves an extra 200k!
Not a shadow anywhere!
When will this gray trend go away?? Although I suppose it matches the zeitgeist these days.
I'm always curious what people think when they come into our house full of blues and greens instead of...gray.
I’m currently sitting in my “mature grape” family room. I love colorful homes!
You can just say purple.
I could, but it has a name and one could tell it was purple based on the name. And, have you seen home many shades of purple paint there are?
![gif](giphy|jlfulL2NK1D2M) Billions and billions
Nothing is ever just purple you absolute lout.
You can have any color you want, just as long as it’s Joanna Gaine’s “Greige.”
millennial gray strikes again
Boomer Gray*
For real
The gray is so depressing. I honestly thought the bathroom photos were shot in black & white.
Honestly if you find this NOTABLY bad you haven't been looking for very long. A lot of what's out there is demoralizing.
I’ve seen much worse.
You know how we look at houses from past eras with tacky design trends and say “how did they ever think this was good?” I feel like in 20 years we’ll be asking that about houses like OP posted, and other flips with the similar trend.
Anyone notice an insane amount of those cookie cutter apartments springing up
Yup it’s like every flip is clone
Yup it’s like every flip is clone

You can say that again.

That really is not that bad compared to others I have seen.
The Albany areas housing market is absolutely terrible right now. Goodbye middle class owners, hello serf class renters

I think that’s where Michael Jackson filmed scream with Janet.
Just fyi that's not even photoshop prohably, just bad AR.
Its absolutely photoshop. Look at the shadows and windows. Its fake staging.
Yeah that's exactly what augmented reality looks like.
Whoops for some reason I thought that was HDR.
Wow! This property was vacated for at least a decade if I remember correctly. It was in terrible condition sitting there rotting. I imagine the new owners are new to the 'Ville.
Bathrooms are nice.
fireplace is awful.
Nothing makes a home feel homey like overhead fluorescent lighting 😍
✅ Gym ❌ Septic The aesthetic isn’t my brand but I wouldn’t call the house awful at first look. Housing market is just ehhhh right now.
Why no septic
Ever seen a septic backup into the yard/house? It’s a nightmare; but preventable. https://preview.redd.it/wuk3d4l9e4xc1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8cbb1c6b1e824b94e1f6cdd3591702204695f002
This guy doesn’t rid x
This can also happen with sewer so 🤷♂️
Septics are fine as long as you use RidX and empty them every couple of years. No septic removes many potential homes off of your list.
I agree with this entire comment. (I really love the gym and wish I had a good (year round) spot for mine!)
It's such a a shame. A big old house like that and all of it's character is completely gone. If I could afford it I'd immediately start working on bringing back it's original charm.

It's being sold because the previous owner saw a bright color and died from the shock.
I have a grey house with a grey window 🎶
that flooring looks disgusting
I don't understand the modern trend against the mighty bathtub. Winter's cold! Give me a tub!
The tv placement in pic 9 💀
People spend way too much time watching HGTV
The inside is nice if it wasn't fake. It looks like those Rollercoaster tycoon games or when I play my design home app game. I am also over and never was a fan of white farm style homes with black accents.
Yeah this looks like a house I would have built in the Sims when I was 16

Agree, for that price and location, something must be off.
And I also think the price point is the issue. It’s not enough house for someone in a $350-375k range, and it’s too expensive for for someone’s who’s max budget is $300k. I bet if they listed it for $299 they’d get bites but what do I know, I’m only an amateur real estate stalker.

I kind of love it, is it the location?
Hmm I don’t know—it’s on a side street off Western and in the G’land school district both of which are desirable Id think. Maybe it’s super smushed in next to the neighbors or something.

Is... is that a garage for the garage?
I love how wet the floor is in picture 6. Like wtf lol
Just want to say I saw a similar listing this morning and came here to post as well 😂 shit is messed up
My favorite is the mystery pipe sticking out of the ceiling/wall in picture 29. This definitely looks like lipstick on a pig and I'd hope when they did this huge reno they updated the electrical and plumbing but we all know that wasn't in the budget.
seeing the mistreatment of this poor foursquare makes me so irrationally angry. century homes need protecting!!!!!!!!
Some idiot who doesn’t know the area will pay 30k over asking for it. Imagine paying 400k to live on a main road in Voorheesville.
Looks like a good place to murder Jared Letto
It's horrible I HATE all the gray, and I hate the idea of paying double for those disgusting cheap looking aesthetics when I could have possibly renovated it myself to not look horrendous
I personality have always wanted walking into my house to feel like you're watching the beginning of The Wizard of Oz played backward.
Between the over processed photos and the prison bathroom, I don't even know where to start.
Looks like a nice, modern home in a great neighborhood. Price seems pretty fair for what you’re getting. What’s the problem exactly?

It's seriously ruined. The work is so bad.

It’s soo bad
Must have been a sale on gray paint. Way overpriced and not enough color, but the house itself I don't think is too bad looking.

R/centuryhomes loses their minds when they see pics of Victorian homes turned into generic modern monstrosities.
Ah yes, greige everything, my favorite color palette
This is definitely the absolute worst local flipper dipper I've seen. Its obscene.
thank yoy
this will sell in a week
\*grey st. by dmb starts playing softly in the background\*
Better than the $374k house I saw in Latham, it was only around 900 sqft.
Wtf, post and shame
