I went back and watched it recently and was very happy to see that not only does it still hold up as a whole but the animation still looks really good

It's also got Tom Waits on the soundtrack. And not his popular stuff either, the real wacky stuff he made. Top notch soundtrack all around really.

I recently replayed the videogame and found that it held up much more than I expected it to.

Video game movie tie ins are always so hit or miss but glad that’s one of them. The Madagascar game is similar. Nothing crazy but a fun platformer with writing that’s legitimately as funny as the movie. All time best ones though are the SpongeBob games for the first film and Battle for Bikini Bottom.
