Old_Big9989

After watching about 5 minutes into watching the video I thought this was too cool to have video essay’d to me so I downloaded the audiobook and listened to it for myself lol

KenjiEndo18

Exact same experience lol

420InTheCity

Audiobook? I feel like such a large part of the experience with this book is the art. Did you go back and look at everything afterwards?

Old_Big9989

Yes I did! I actually really enjoyed imagining in my head what the different aliens would look like before seeing them illustrated, but looking back on it I do wish I had the art to look at while listening to it because of how much world building it provides

The1930s

Yea same, rhe vid made me bored so I downloaded the book

BenjiAbi

I did and I will be forever thankful to the YouTube algorithm for showing me it.

SanguinianCrusader

My thoughts exactly. This video was how I found out speculative evolution was a thing as a genre.

johnlime3301

Same.

7farema

I came (pun intended) from the video ranking all tomorrows species by sex appeal instead

ScoutTrooper747

Same fr. I would like to read it one day though.

CaptainKyros

It's a free pdf

ScoutTrooper747

Hype

Auspicious_BayRum

I watched the Alt Shift X video first, then binged the wiki. I did end up reading the book much later, but I preferred the other two sources better.

bread_birb

Guilty as charged 😔

Bob_the_Builder198

Same here

johnlime3301

I watched the video and a bunch of fan-made Blender animations. I'm reading through the book rn. The video honestly has covered basically everything so far.

noname5221

Ima be real with you, I saw Qu r34 randomly and somehow ended up here

Lonely_Assistance588

Realest comment

Crusaders_dreams2

Based

Watchmefallll

Wait, there are all tomorrow’s p*rn 🤨?!

Crusaders_dreams2

If there is a fandom, there is p-

Watchmefallll

So this means that even Mario p*rn can exists ?

Crusaders_dreams2

Most definitely yes. There's Luigi h*ntai afterall

Watchmefallll

And I thought I have seen everything with link disguised as a gerudo fans arts…

Crusaders_dreams2

Lol💀

SnooRecipes1114

You have a lot to learn if you are asking that question haha

Soupchek

Nah i actually read the book

Epica_Destroyer

I read the book PDF and never watched the videos. /:

Watchmefallll

Me too

Meme_Pope

I’ve read the book and the audiobook, but I actually think Alt Shift X does a better job telling the story.

johnlime3301

Koseman himself is pretty happy with the video adaptation.

zzzaj2017

Was this in an interview?

johnlime3301

It's in a comment of the video.

The_Lurker_Near

Yep. I watched the video first, then read the book, and was delighted to get some more information, but ultimately I agree with you. The video essay was marvelous!

Top-Ad-4512

No it doesn't. It really leaves out stuff and gets many parts wrong hence a lot of confusion about the second empire comes like the Bug Faces "never" joining, something Alt Shift never corrected and not mentioning what the Asteromorphs and Second Empire did upon encountering each other and leaving a massive gap here. It might seem nitpicky, but I found his video really on some parts misleading and that contributed to many bad views like the Asteromorphs refusing the 2nd Empire when in reality, the 2nd Empire never considered them to be future members. Alt shift did a good job showing us All Tomorrows, but he has his blindspots and dunning-krugered the fan base and I think some critique is in order.

Smolpichan

I knew about All Tomorrows from r/distressingmemes lul. And I'm glad I stumbled upon that colonial meme

Wise_Lizard

My man! Same here..

Skittle_Queen_22

I read the book and watched the video and become so obsessed for like a month but once in awhile when I see posts like this it makes me want to read it again just because

ProfessionalTap2910

i did

JoeB0b123

I saw the pdf linked as a Reddit comment years ago in the world building subreddit I think. I read it and thought it was one of coolest pieces of spec evo fiction. Even if it doesn’t aim to scientifically accurate, it creates a vibe that is just so appealing. The body horror art has this simple but really evocative style to it, feels reminiscent of eighteenth and nineteenth century naturalist sketches. All of it was just so cool And then it blew up all over the internet a month or two later.

A_Lover_Of_Truth

It was the first one I ever saw, then I listened to Beware The Qu's reading of the book. I've been in love with it ever since.

Ticker011

I've been a fan of the book for years before it blew up out of nowhere. I'm so happy it gets more attention nowadays anyhow. Yall should go check out the writers other work and YouTube channel he's really talented in speculative evolution.

Sufficient_Motor_290

Yeah, me

BennyCalagan

I leaned about it from r/peterexplainsthejoke bc there was the QU in a meme and then someone explained it was from all tomorrows so I then read the pdf file

2006lion2006

I actually watched that video about 20 times in the course of 2 years and then I finally decided to actually read the book, and I couldn’t have been more pleased

Sterling196218

To be honest, yes I did watch the video not because I could just go online to read the book. No, I want to go and BUY the book because I feel C.M deserves the money!

CristauxFeur

I knew the book way before the video came out since I've been into Speculative Evolution for a while thanks to reading The Future is Wild when I was a kid but I avoid saying that because it feels like I'm flexing and I don't want to lol

PrimaryOccasion7715

I've heard about it and decided to read, didn't even watch the video.

ExistingGrade8192

I don't even know who this Guy is

TheMike8848

Actually i came from zedin

ApeWithBlade

One of my favorite yourubers made a video about this book and I read it. Then I found the subreddit

DRAGON9880

I listened to the audio book on an app i had on my phone

Brandon_M_Gilbertson

I saw the video then read the book. It’s the same, the video is just an audio reading

morbiuschad69420

\*laughs nervously\*

Aserthreto

Came from Beware the Qu actually. Listened to his audiobook.

TRN18

Pretty much, but I was already made aware of specevo thanks to Ben G Thomas on YouTube

EhGoodEnough3141

And then I listened to the audiobook.

dacunus

I lisened to the audio book so..... half?

PlasticBeach4197

I know I did

GoodSail523

i would love to read the book but Cem is not publishing the book in Turkey

IcebergletV2

.... yeah:( I have the PDF file tho, I'll read it when i finish my exams

FanMan55555

Initially I watched the video, I later on went on a witch hunt looking for the audio book it was an enjoyable listening

TablePrinterDoor

I saw it first then read the pdf as he said some stuff wasn't explained

Walshy_Boy

I read the book after reading a comment on a random subreddit about it, can't even remember which one

Fledermolch

I watched the video, forgot about it for a year, suddenly remembered it and then read the book.

Mr--Elephant

I still remember watching it the day it came out on the sofa, it was so long ago but it seems like yesterday, kinda blew my mind. Read the book on my own like ages after the fact but yeah, I mainly have nostalgia for that video because of where I was in my life when that came out, takes me back and all that.

Responsible_Debt5631

Watched it, then read the book, then watched every single video made about the thing I already read.

cat__gills

I watched that video and then printed out the book lol

Maleficent_Apple4169

no, i came from the curious archive video

Few-Satisfaction-194

I wouldn't have known about the book if it wasn't for the video. I'll pick it up one of these days when I'm not so broke.

CarpeNoctem1031

I found the PDF in High School and fell totally in love with it. It was everything Man After Man, which was in my High School Library, failed to be.

dapkarlas

subreddit was created right after this video was released, you can't blame me

pink_mensch

I read the book after watching the video

ti83_calculator

I saw the video, then read the book. So glad I found this series!

PrinceOfFish

i dont remember where i started. i read the pdf some time after it was mentioned offhand in a video mentioning the concept of speculative evolution. maybe in a video essay about realistic aliens.

Agitated_Leading

That’s me

pomegranatejello

I read it after watching! It was this or something from Curious Archives

EHAlexander

I had the pdf on my old netbook like 8 years ago, all tomorrows always makes me nostalgic for that thing, it ran binding of Isaac at 15 frames a second on a good day and could just about open a pdf hahaha

OnsenPixelArt

I haven't joined this subreddit so I don't have to worry about it lol lmao

SarcastiKhan

Audiobook is really good, chrck youtube

kankri-is-triggered

I did an interpretation of it for a Debate competition a while ago because the book fit the theme. I got really into the book, and coincidentally right as my obsession dies down– that video drops and here I am.

Overtronic

Watched it and then read it. I remember when it came out and it was by far the most intriguing looking video sitting in my recommended tab for the next couple of days but I didn't have time for a 40 minute video. Eventually after a few days, I found time and the video definitely stands up to the thumbnail's allure.

Ball-of-Yarn

I didn't even watch the video

12tie

I didn’t know there was a video. Now that I think about it, I have no clue where I heard about it. It’s almost as though it was always there. Just waiting to be found. Like some kind of eldritch being.

TomboyThighs

Yeah, I came here because of Alt Shift X. I dunno man, he just has a way of structuring his video and portraying All Tomorrows that just scratches that video essay itch in my brain.

Known_Bass9973

I just stumbled upon it a few years back, I guess I got here early

uli94

It was man after man that I looked for something similar and read the pdf copy online

Altruistic-Bed-6642

Me

StrangeRock4

I remember waking up to it being on the tv when I was staying at a friend’s house for a party.

Cryptoss

I read the pdf in 2010 I’m glad that it’s reaching a bigger audience now but a lot of the fan theories about the book and also the fan art is straight up annoying

rocultura

Havent seen the video, learned about it from a meme about space travel where it abruptly cut to an illustration of the Gravital Subjects and i thought the meme was really funny and found the concept of the book to be very interesting

Boomsta22

Yes.

Lime_Kinda_Sus

I came from this, and got confused as fuck. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ye2rFfgnGVg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ye2rFfgnGVg)

Legodeathstarprod

KobyR_1

The book in question is the 120ish page pdf right? I’m not trying to undermine the work by saying it’s small, just making sure there isn’t something bigger I don’t know about.

Cowboy__Guy

I didn’t know there was a video or a book i just saw some sweet fucked pictures

nowgonepronto

There's a book???

Any_Independence9453

saw a really bad summary on tik tok. tried to watch the youtube vid but having already read the book about 3 times it was not interesting enough to watch.

devildocjames

I didn't know there's a video.

unstoppablehippy711

Watched the video then read the book

Big_Kwii

i mean i did both

MischaPott18

I read the book first and then saw the Alt Shift X video!

nate-the-dude

I was into CM Kosemen for his paleoart before I found all tomorrows

Former_Adeptness_630

I hear this story before Alt Shift X’s it was Trey the explainer during his Star Wars theory that the alien from Star Wars are evolved from humans

JohnBoston

🙋🏻‍♂️

JKid21

Surprisingly enough, I heard about All Tomorrow's from a friend of mine, way before this video appeared, and read it after finding it was seemingly free. And it was nifty. The video is neat too, but the book was really special to read.

DankykongMAX

I knew about All Tomorrows from Ben G Thomas's speculative zoology video

Super-Essay-5201

Does reading the pdf version of the book counts too?

Crusader-of-Akatosh

…me

username_etc

Right here

smolb0i

im planning to buy the boom after the video

DominusDaniel

Meeeeeee

OnetimeRocket13

I did, but I've read most of it. I can never really sit down and read it all at once. I like going in and reading about X species or Y event, which usually leads to me reading a good chunk of the book. At this point, I think I've technically read the whole thing, but not consecutively.

Old_Juggernaut_5114

I’m gonna get the physical book when I get a chance that video is amazing

stanleygslinga

my algorithm wouldn’t stop suggesting it. then i figured out WHY it kept suggesting it.

ElSquibbonator

I actually read the book all the way back in 2008.

anarchist_person1

I read the pdf like 4 years ago after I found out about it from being into spec evo

Coin_operated_bee

Well I read the book after I saw the video

Dragonwolf67

I came from his video.

AntisocialHikerDude

I'm just here because Reddit started recommending posts from this sub for some reason. Haven't seen that video or read the book, but I did watch Curious Archive's video a while back.

ThorSon-525

I haven't read the book yet but I also don't know who this YouTuber is. Curious Archive is the one that got me here.

gayjemstone

I watched the video and then I read the book

OperationKitty

NEITHER

Blaximus90

I would imagine most people didn’t read the book first. It’s not like it’s New York Times Best Seller. It’s only relevant because of the video, right?

borgircrossancola

I knew of it before, read the whole book in a pdf at some restaurant

Keiuu

I did come from that video, but I read that book in one go some weeks ago, it's pretty short, and the PDF is available online.

ihvrblx_nop_ch456

First, I got into All Tomorrows because of an animator, and I watched this before reading the book for myself ( I downloaded it from the official website ).

bick-com

I mean if kosmen himself said it was the definitive audio experience for it, then not too shabby (yes I'm one of them)

g0reyskies1

watched most of the video essay first, then i checked out kosemen's socials, then went on the subreddit just to see some more stuff, and then i went to read it and THEN i finally started posting here.

PantheraSapien

I read the book back in 2016 but couldn't understand it at all. The video definitely helped me visualize stuff. I'll be honest, the video made it better for me to understand the lore.

OkFun2724

I did and that how i discover his channel that way

Pitiful-Score-9035

I've never seen the video and I've never read the book no idea how I got here, but I've been here for months. I kinda enjoy seeing really cryptic weird stuff I don't understand lmao.

I_might_be_weasel

https://tenor.com/56YX.gif

Plane_Neat

This video introduced me to this

source_code-0

I love that video, I want to get the book to delve further into the story but I haven’t gotten it yet.

jayyy_0113

I watched that YT video while tripping on shrooms and went on a deep dive after 😂

marveljew

I actually read the book and was underwhelmed by it.

Narstak

Read the books a few years before it got main stream

Z1ppnt

i did both 😎

zallydidit

The book is so short and the audiobook is only like 2 hrs on YouTube, there’s no reason to suspect that ppl haven’t read the book lol

gjvillegas25

Pretty sure that’s the vast majority of this sub lol, ain’t no shame in it either (guilty)

tyrosthwfaeg

I read the book way back in 2016, but joined this subreddit a little after it went viral.

Apart_Bandicoot_396

You wanna buy me the book?

OYeog77

I have never heard of anything related to the book or this video and have not joined the subreddit but based on this thumbnail I was very confused and very very interested in knowing what in the Kentucky Fried Fuck I’m looking at

LiamThe_LlamaLoaf

I saw the Qu in a tiktok evil character ranking around the time when judge holden was super popular. I knew griffith, holden, am and some other dudes but i never heard of the qu. Then i found out what book its from and got the audio book

yeoldecoot

There's a book? /s

Ashurbanipal2023

Basically yeah. When I finally read it it was absolutely amazing though.

Arcturus_42502yt

Eheheh..

ToccataRocco

I came here after reading Dougal Dixon's Man After Man ☺️

Olioliooo

Who the hell is Alt Shift X

AddyCod

I watched the video, got obsessed and then read the book

I_see_but_why

To be fair, this video slaps

DrummingChopsticks

Meeee

loljustheretohelp910

Me

amshegarh

I saw some memes about colonials and then read the book. No regrets

PaTaPaChiChi

Even if it’s not where we originally came from, I’d say it’s fair to argue that we learned about it from someone who watched this video It really popularized All Tomorrows on a level it wasn’t at before the video

LaRueStreet

I didn’t watch the video but i always saw it, i think it is still on my “watch later” list. I really became interested when i learned the creator of this is a Turkish person like me. Then i first watched his interview with a Turkish streamer and so on…

Intelligent_Glass603

Me lol

Crusaders_dreams2

I saw the vid, read the book and finally realized this existed

Eucharitidae

I read the book first, then watched the video and about 2 months ago, I re-read it.

Brenno2814-1

I like the coverage that the speculative zoology/evolution world is suddenly getting recently but it is also attracting a lot of nonsense.

D1onigi

I've listened to the full read. Best way to enjoy the book is listening to someone reading while you stare at the images.

JDcreator

Guilty as charged

raviolibabie

This sub keeps popping up in my recommended and the artwork is intriguing. Maybe I’ll watch the YouTube video now to understand what I’m looking at

Unlikely-Rutabaga110

I was for a little while but after a couple days I went ahead and read the book too

0zher

Me

Appropriate_Coffe

I came from the "Man after Man" community after a recommendation there.

Hooj_Brain

Came from Beware Cast's (formerly Beware the Qu) complete timeline of All Tomorrows.

ClawingAtMyself

With the price of the book when I first saw it... Yeah I'm good with youtube videos.

Terran-from-Terra

I saw his video and then read the book.

Extension_Heron6392

I didn't watch the video or read the book. I found vague references is multiple pieces of media.

Nimzitseemz

Both!

SadisticDance

I've had that video in my watch later playlist forever but recently tiktok has been giving me videos on All Tomorrows and other speculative future content.

HumanBeingThatExist

I read the book prior to the release of the video

DillPickle696969696

You caught me lol

FleshPony76

*slowly raises hand*

No-Choice4036

Beware The Qu was my introduction

Parking_Ad_4018

I remember when I came across this video and when I saw the thumbnail right of the bat I thought that this is probably one of those really complicated stories where there are multiple books theories demons multiverses so I thought this is one of those cliche annoying stories but a year later I came across a picture of the striders and I was intrigued

seretastic

Guilty lol

Speed04

Actually, the book was my first experience with All Tomorrows. I just saw everyone making videos about it on YT, so I decided to download the book to read and know more about it (and also to improve my english skills, since it's not my native language)

OriginOfTheVoid

Watched it, then read a PDF version of the book. Please don’t hate me I’m just a bean

Real_Fix5349

Basically, I found memes about Colonials(suffering bricks of flesh) in TikTok. Then I read about All Tomorrows in fandom wiki. After that I started watching videos and eventually read the book.

WarMage1

Personally the sub just keeps showing up in my feed. I haven’t even joined it, and I see more posts from here than some subs I’m actually in.

Gabriel1659

Watched the vid for a bit and then decided to buy the physical book since it's pretty cheap

Wysterical_

I read about it cuz I like spec evo, plus my friend recommended it.

CranBerrySlim-Jim

i dont know what any of this is im here from reddit suggestions i guess

PetroBeherha

I read the online book a few years before AltShiftX released that video, so I knew about it for some time now. I knew about it before it was cool. That said, AltShiftX was a blessing because it brought such an otherwise obscure book into the light of day. I could not be more grateful.

fukimeekrat

saw a tiktok and got the pdf

Racoon_Skull

Me… but ive also started the actual book.

HALOGEN117

I haven't watched the video yet, just read the book during classes

dgaruti

read the book in 2015/16 ... forgotten about it and got surprised when it surfaced again

Dr_Quiet_Time

I have the pdf on my phone

sanlangs

I watched that and then liked it so much i listened to the audiobook

Camarayeh

I discovered it by a Twitter meme that drove to that video, lol

pilgn

i watched the video than read the book
