Yes. I have to use it early in the morning or I can’t sleep that night.

financiallyanal

No. If it does, there are some options: 1. If only using it once a day, take it earlier at the start of the day. 2. You can try sprays in the same medication class including nasacort. 3. After a few minutes, you might feel some of the spray down your throat. Gargle or rinse your mouth to avoid this irritation. 4. Make sure to spray at an angle, not up the nostril. There’s a good video here: https://youtu.be/tnEre7FHUAQ

Thank you. Is it known to sometimes? Considering you had answers for “if”

financiallyanal

Never heard of it. Almost any medication will have a laundry list of things from headache to the worst possible outcome listed as potential side effects, so take any online reports like a grain of salt. Usually, the side effects are more around throat irritation when it drains just a few minutes after application.

Yes and if you search this reddit you'll see quite a few threads with folks asking the same question (heck you'll find it in searches on the net in general.) Doesn't mean everyone gets it but some do. I'm one. I can't use nasal steroids at all - tried other types, tried just doing a children's dose only in the AM. Still can't use it. YMMV.

It can cause insomnia?! I use it right before I go to bed! And I have horrible insomnia.

vdWcontact

Try skipping it tonight. It really gives me bad insomnia.

Yes, during the evening. Rhinocort (budesonide in generic) feels like a weaker medicine to me, but I can use it at any hour with no issues. A lot of the nasal steroids make me feel woozy or "on edge" like an alert brain and body. Afrin makes me feel positively drugged up and Azelastine, which is intended for daily use, made me unable to drive my car or sleep.

No but I swear it contributes to constipation for me...to the point where I stopped using it. But the two doctors I've mentioned it to look at me like I'm crazy...so I started using it again because it helps so much with the allergies.

vdWcontact

If I take Flonase at night I will not sleep well. If I take it in the morning it’s not usually an issue.

onwardtomanagua

my primary care doctor told me that allergy meds with names at the beginning of the alphabet are best taken in the morning (claritin, allegra, flonase) and those at the end of the alphabet are best taken at night (zyrtec). i have no idea if it is accurate, lol, but I've never forgotten that. flonase makes me feel restless if i take it at night

AnynameIwant1

Nope. Are you sure that it is a side effect of that and not anything else?

Mountainbiker22

No doctor. But if you were taking it incorrectly for long enough and swallowing it potentially adrenal insufficiency is a potential. It could also just be making if worse and you were already to that point due to stress, caffeine intake, etc. Maybe check this out to see. The way the Flonase would make it worse, I believe, is if you weren’t taking it like that nice redditors video link and you were swallowing more of it accidentally. That’s all I’ve got :) https://www.sfadvancedhealth.com/blog/what-is-adrenal-insufficiency
