I recommend reading this. It helped a friend of mine. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0795BLS8D?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_dp_SYD73RYQDR4EE0EEZ8FN

I find it MUCH easier to do ADF when I’ve been eating low carb for at least 2 days. While you can do ADF on any diet, I find eating low carb puts me in ketosis ahead of the fast so that I don’t experience the side effects you mentioned. I’m also doing ADF to lose weight and lower insulin resistance and my goal is to do 3 42 hour fasts per week, but this can also work with 3 36 hour fasts or other ADF combos. The key is consistency. Good luck!

Do you have any tips on the best way to get out of eating carbs? I feel like I can’t get past the ketosis flu.

Yes, my recommendation would be to do a fat fast for a number of days until your hunger is gone. Once that’s happened, you’re ready to start fasting. Here’s a great article from Megan Ramos on this with information on what to eat during your fat fast: https://blog.thefastingmethod.com/what-is-fat-fasting-and-when-should-you-do-it/ After you’ve finished your fat fast (as many days as that takes for your hunger to subside), my suggestion would be to stick to regular low carb during meals between fasts as then you’ll stay in ketosis and it will keep your hunger at bay during alternate daily fasts. Good luck!

You’re very welcome. There’s also a fantastic and very active FB group for those following The Fasting Method plan, if you’re interested. Incredible success stories posted and lots of great advice given. The group is: https://www.facebook.com/share/P3Wmpwh1NgLkRohx/?mibextid=K35XfP

I also recommend you read the following book by Megan Ramos which has lots of tips and strategies on how to fast, different types of ADF fasting schedules and more: The Essential Guide to Intermittent Fasting for Women
