Yes, this is the easiest way imo. Trying to figure out which way your hook points and where the tail is can be tough if you inadvertently twist or turn your piece as a newbie.
I do love this sub because everyone has a slightly different way to do things, so there's always something to learn!
For me, because the right side out looks neater, you can see the rows. The inside looks more messy and diagonal to each other instead of neatly stacked rows on top of each other.
The easiest, most immediate way to tell is how your hook is placed while you're working.
Imagine your project is a drinking cup. To have your project right-side-out, your hook should be positioned where your lips were to go if you were to drink out of your "cup." In other words, your hook will be to the front of your project, not behind it, while you're making your stitches.
Also look at your V's and how they're moving around the top. If they're moving counterclockwise, your work is inside out. If they're moving clockwise, you're working right-side-out.
Second picture. The easiest way to tell for me is that the starting yarn tail should be on the inside of the work once you’re finished.
Also, you can tell because the first picture has little horizontal bars throughout the stitches. That’s the wrong side.
I’m actually really glad you asked this. I’ve been crocheting a long time but all the talk I see online about yarn over versus yarn under has started me second guessing the “right” way for stitches to look anymore!
That's weird to me, I learned yarn under first from my MIL and I find yarn over weird and gross feeling! I only use yarn under whether the pattern calls for it or not lol I'm a demon in the crocheting world
Just letting you or anyone else that might not be able to tell, yarn over creates v’s on the “right side” of work and yarn under still creates x’s.
If the project doesn’t have a lot of shaping through decreases and increases, yarn under is my personal preferred method because it makes very square looking stitches that make the fo look more tidy and polished (again, this is just my personal opinion)
Second picture is the outside. The thing I find most helpful to remember is that 'v' is the side to put outside and the side with '---' is the side to go inside. Hope this helps 🤙🏻

Second picture. The right side should be facing you as you start the work. Also it is made up of little v shapes. No bars.
