I have a Pixel 7 Pro, an SSD and a USB SATA connector. Not 100% the same but let me try this out for you.
EDIT: I can succesfully mount a USB SATA SSD connected to a USB C to A connector on my Pixel 7 Pro
Thank you, I'll give it a try then.
My laptops given up the ghost, I don't use it enough to warrant buying another.
I found a few posts on the subject but the jist was it's a pain to do. But they were at earliest 3 years old.
I'll see how I get on.
It's a saying I've known all my life, but never gave a thought to where it came from.
"It comes from the King James Bible in Mark 15:37. It says “Jesus cried out with a loud voice and gave up the ghost.” Meaning, He died and released His Spirit."
Yes, it should work.
SSD uses less power than a traditional HD, and a decent HD can be run off the port if you are lucky.
I routinely run a USB sound bar on my phone. No issues, just kills the battery faster.
Count me as one of them, too.
I often attach a SATA SSD to an older device for torrents. Just remember to eject -or- completely power off the phone before unplugging the drive.
Might get broken files if you don't.
Yeah I'll keep that in mind, thanks. Ridiculous how cheap the NVMe drives are now. Quite a few 1TB around the £50 mark. They're Gen 3, not 4 but I'm going to be getting throttled by the enclosure if not the phone anyway.
Depending on your device, you might only get USB 2 speeds, but at least it will work.
Lots of manufacturers are running older protocols on their USB C ports instead of the 3.x protocols. So if it seems slow, that's why.
Noted, the transfer speeds would only be a bonus anyway, it'll be used mostly as photo backup drive. My partner seems to fill 128GB every 6 months. Downsides of higher MP built in cameras
question, do you mind sharing which ones you use? I bought an enclosure along with an nvme drive but my phone won't detect it?? I've tried formating it as "ExFAT" but still nothing...

When I connected to my phone, it only show usb connected for charging. Then, I put another type C cable for power delivery, my phone detected the storage.
Kinda bad for me bcs you required to charge the adapter to use it.
My S10 can power a newish 4TB portable hard drive but not a 10 year old 500GB one. I'm assuming the newer drive was built with phone compatibility in mind and uses less power. An SSD draws even less power than a HDD, since it's solid state similar to a flash drive, so it should work.
In case if anyone is still looking for a solution, I have a 500GB Samsung 970 EVO NVMe in a Sabrent USB 3.2 enclosure.
I can access it on my S24U through an externally powered USB hub: [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CG1RYLB7](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CG1RYLB7)
But I also need an USB C female to USB A male adaptor: [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CPBD6XY8](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CPBD6XY8) to connect it to an USB C OTG cable: [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B5MPCJF5](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B5MPCJF5)
The phone is also charged directly from the USB hub, and the additional power cable of the OTGH cable is not needed.

Haha. "Hat den Geist aufgegeben" übersetzt sich etwas holprig ins Englische. Danke für den Schmunzel

Awesome thanks for the help. I'll give it a try as some ones had luck with sata SSDs.

I bought an M.2 combo sata/nvme enclosure and use a 1TB NVME drive in it, I have a POCO X3 Pro and works perfectly, highly recommend it.

I bought it back in 2021 through AliExpress, but can't find it anymore. It accepts both NVME / SATA
Thanks for the reply. Going to get it ordered.
Hey, it's my phone + memory twin!

Which phone are you using? My partner p30 pro did this
Turn on USB debugging
