My personal preference would be for top right.
I don't like having RS close to the airport in any way. Bottom right is definitely too close; bottom left is better but really don't give any room to work with.
The reason I don't like two-south for rivers is today it drastically cuts down on early available beach. One of the way ways to get Nook Miles early is to pick up shells from the beach (just hold onto them until there's a task to sell them). It can take a while to get the first ten shells until you can get over the rivers, so having less beach makes it harder.
On the other hand, the mouths are pretty far apart on that one, and the river curves high - I alway there's not enough space with the two-south configuration.
I've restarted a number of times, and I've always avoided the two-south. Might have to try it next time.
Your logic here is great, but I really want you to come over now bc my island is a 2 south river, close-to-airport residential services kinda island. It was frustrating and I’m still problem solving but I’m proud of the ways I’ve made it work lol!

After gentle reading, it seems two south river mouths is often undesirable as is Resident Services being close to the airport. I’m not sure how important those factors are or if there’s something else I should be looking out for. Are these options good or should I restart? Based on what I read, am I looking more at top right (is Resident Services central enough on the island?) or bottom right or maybe even bottom left? I’m all at sea 🤯😂

Bottom right is what I would choose to restart my island, also you can make the second and third tier rivers longer for the rare river fish in your own island
I went with top right so I could situate majority of my houses and buildings within close proximity. The back is like the “woods”. Most of the houses/buildings are along the bottom shoreline.
For what it matters, the distance from RS to the airport only matters if you have a specific design in mind for later. I personally like them being close, because it's very efficient, especially early game. I like having all the public buildings close together for efficiency. You'll be in and out of them every day, and often. It's such a waste to run across half the island to get to any of them.

Why? Personally I like it as close as possible.
Mine doesn’t line up with my airport, it’s ever so slightly to the right so it makes designing an entrance really difficult.

I was thinking the same and easier access to the cousin selling art before you get to terra forming.
