okay-now-what

This is what happens you season a potato with catnip.

-MarcoTraficante

shawty was *not* givin up that bag

thasnazgul

The fact that she fumbles for the cat like someone trying to clumsily turn a doorknob in an infomercial, is a bit telling. That and randomly filming someone opening a fridge.

DogIsFarting

Any cat owner who isn't faking for the internet would have solved that issue in two steps. 1, hand on scruff. 2, remove bag from mouth

King_Cane_Corso

Mine would have been step 1, swat cat mid-jump. Step 2, hiss at him tell he ran away. Got to speak their language.

oedipism_for_one

Cats will never respect you, the closest you can do is be a cat in their eyes.

IFinallyDidItMom

I was a bed to my old cat. He used to sleep on my stomach whenever I was laying at enough of an angle for him to stay on. If the light was too bright in the room he would grab my closest arm between his paws and pull it into his head to block it. He was too cute for me to resist so I just accepted my place in life as cat furniture.

BiiiigSteppy

Cat furniture is our highest calling.🐾

slythir

That is so cute

Sadreaccsonli

I'm a litter tray to one of my cats, if she falls asleep on me she will piss on me. It's happened twice and she doesn't get to go in the bedroom anymore. It's the most annoying thing to be woken up by, if she hadn't had such a tough life I'm not sure I would've forgiven her.

punxerchick

That's pretty unusual. You might ask the vet about it next time you take her. Not to be overly cautious, but maybe she's having some health issue that's causing it

madarbrab

That's the highest respect they can give.

Bottled-Bee

I am the protector of the cat realm. I have a 5yr old Great Pyrenees (140lbs, tall big paws) and I got him when my cats were 10, and he was 9 months. He could manage to get anywhere they could. Under my bed, where he would do what my cats do and swat at your feet. Gradually he got stuck a few times and gave up on that venture and just chases them. I protect them from them…from him when he’s playing inside and they try to hit him repeatedly…

Bottled-Bee

“HEY I DONT THINK SO GET YOUR ASS OUT” Cat looks back sharply “I DONT CARE WHAT YOU THINK! That’s not okay! NO N-O! Treats for you today. Be thankful I even feed you!” My other cat looking at the problem child “Why do you tempt my fate too?” My deaf dog “Idk what’s going on but you’re waving your arms angrily. I’m coming to calm you down. Maybe you’ll open the freezer and give me ice cream. I’m best boy.” That’s my fridge convo with my animals. Everyone gets involved.

ModestMeeshka

Everytime I watch these videos, all I can think is "just scruff the damn thing!" But saying that, I use to work at a kennel and EVERYONE was scared of the cat room besides me. Cats really aren't that hard and even when they do attack it's just like "ow... What an asshole" as opposed to a giant GSD who's bite will land you in the hospital. Worst case with a cat, you have to scruff them and and pour some hydrogen peroxide on the scratch lol

kaazir

I would go go the humane society on Fridays to play with the cats. It got fairly loud in their one day and I went PSST! and slapped my leg and they all hushed. I was king of the kitties. That was pre covid and I liked going because 99% of the people that would visit would come play with the dogs. It wasn't uncommon to see trucks outside and see dudes in the field behind the place playing with the dogs. They got used to me coming and I'd just help myself back there.

ModestMeeshka

That and cat gloves are also really helpful. We just caught a stray that has been having health problems in our neighborhood to take him to the vet, he trusts us but once he saw that crate it was all over and he got both me and my husband pretty good. It was worth it though, to get him the help he needed. But I saw the power of a cat bite that day lol I've been scratched and bit by cats and dogs, mostly cats, and maybe I've gotten lucky but I've never had a problem or known anyone who did from cats besides my sister who got "cat scratch fever" a few years ago, nothing worth going to the hospital over luckily. But that's what the other techs always use to say when I teased them about being scared of the cat room. It IS however incredibly important to clean any type of animal bite/scratch even if it doesn't seem that serious.

PixieHellkiteRage

GSD?

daymcn

German shepherd dog

Mikebaxters

A cat bite can kill your easier than a dog bite and it does have to be a bad bite either. Just breaking the skin with a cats teeth can give you massive infection that turns septic fast.

ModestMeeshka

You know... I've heard that many times but I've been scratched so many times by cats, including strays and I haven't ever had a problem. My sister got "cat scratch fever" where there's little bumps and you get a fever but she never had to go to the hospital for it, which was good. My husband worked with me at the kennel and had a pit latch on to his arm while he tried to break up a dog fight, he had to get stitches (which they normally try to avoid because of infection) because he was bleeding so bad. Don't get me wrong, I love kitties and puppers equally, and I hold no resentment for pits by any means (dogs black out in a fight and she was originally trying to protect him from a big lab with temperament issues) just in my experience, when cleaned properly, cat scratches are fairly safe... It's just funny how people who have no fear with the bigger fuzzy friends are scared of the little ones of the feline variety lol

Mikebaxters

Scratches aren't the issue, it's the bites that are the issue. Not only do you get deals infections from feline bites but their teeth are made for severing arteries. If you seen a cat bite through an artery like have you wouldn't be so nonchalant about cats. I love all animals been working with them over 20 years but I have a healthy fear of bites at anyone should. And just FYI little dogs can easily bite through arteries too seen a few of those incidents. I'm less afraid of being bitten by big dogs than little ones. With both dogs and cats if you actually watch their body language you'll know most of the time (cats are always unpredictable) that they are going to bite you.

sashikku

I know a guy who's hand had to be amputated after a cat bite. She didn't get him hard, just a lil skin breakage. Kinda just pinched him with her teeth and made him bleed a few drops. He immediately washed his hands, poured peroxide on it, and even used hibaclens after that. He said it itched for the rest of the day, but he didn't think much of it. Woke up the next day, hand was the size of a baseball glove. By the time his wife got him to the ER, he had compartment syndrome in his hand -- damn near went into shock in the waiting room. Cat bites can be *nasty*.

madarbrab

What is compartment syndrome?

sashikku

Basically, it's when you swell up so bad that it begins to cut off blood flow. It's very dangerous, and *excruciatingly* painful -- as in, potentially slip into shock and die painful.

Mikebaxters

Simple explanation is correct but I'm going to ad its swollen with either bacteria/parasites or blood. It not your typical swelling like from a sprained ankle.

Mikebaxters

Correct, and the compartment syndrome was caused by the massive amount of bacteria the bite put in the hand. Every vet clinic and shelter had a policy of seeing a doctor immediately after any cat bite.

sashikku

I wish he'd gone the day it happened. I didn't hear about it until he posted his experience on Facebook as a warning to others. He's been understandably depressed since this occurred. He loves cats and feels betrayed in a sense. I would too if I'd lost my hand to one.

Mikebaxters

The cat may have just been playing. A play bite causes just as much damage as any other bite. People don't take cat bites seriously because they rarely look bad like dog bites look.

Supercoolguy7

A dude got in the news for catching a rare disease that required all 4 limbs and part of his nose to be amputated to save his life after a dog LICKED him https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/sacramento/news/dog-lick-blood-infection-amputate/

sashikku

Holy hell, that's insane. I think we can all agree that the inside of an animal's mouth can be a disgusting, dangerous place and that we should try to stay out of them.

[deleted]

Mikebaxters

No its not. You clearly don't know what you are talking about and should be fired and banned from working with animals.

OilyBobbyFl4y

Very mature response to being proven wrong, bravo

daymcn

Dogs can cause infection as well. My friends Rotti got me pretty good on a Friday and by Monday I was at the hospital with an infection getting in anti biotic every 8 hours foe a week.

Mikebaxters

What an asinine comment to make.

[deleted]

Aggressiveness may vary.

According_Ad4146

Do not hold an adult cat by the scruff, especially for something as minor as this.

snf

"I grab the cat and pull the bag from its mouth" "Ok, give me an animal handling check" "Uh... nat 1"

[deleted]

The cat probably does it often and they wanted it on video

maluminse

🙄 what?? Oh so it's staged. The cat came up the idea for his Instagram. OR The cat did this regularly so they decided to show us the cats crazy antics.

scrupulous_oik

Yes, starving a cat for karma will do this.

kevik72

It’s very r/WhereDidTheSodaGo.

Prettyelvisfan

What is that in the bag…

dehue

The owner says "Give me back the potatoes" and "What do you need potatoes for?"

long_dickofthelaw

My cat unironically will fiend for potatoes.

Tasty_Ad6361

My childhood cat went wild for romaine lettuce

FullofContradictions

Mine will fight you for a bag of baby carrots. She won't eat them, mind you... Just aggressively nuzzle and drool over them.

Prettyelvisfan

My cat likes tomato sauce🤷‍♀️

siguefish

Churu or another brand of ‘kitty crack’ treat, is my guess. It’s a paste, and some cats lose their minds over it.

Bluemofia

My cat knows how to sit on command, but won't demean herself to do it for anything less than Churu. For several months, I thought she was just dumb and couldn't comprehend it. Nope, just that dinner (wet food mind you) isn't a good enough incentive.

Mediumtim

Butter, I think.

N3661

Potato

Prettyelvisfan

Lol cat likes potatos? Weird

ljseminarist

In Latvia everybody like potato. Not everybody get one.

LilyInvu

But potatoes are dangerous to cats and this idiot is letting the cat chew it and possibly eat it just for some views... How can someone be this stupid? Its like feeding onions to your cat.

Who_GNU

/r/WhyWereTheyFilming?

Drak_is_Right

Probably because this thing has happened 2 or 3 times in the past week

smallpoly

"lets see if he'll do it again"

ManIsInherentlyGay

Because they wanted to film their cat being a jersey? Does this really need to be explained?

[deleted]

nflxtothemoon

Staged or not it's still funny the cat did that

Tha_Unknown

God damn that’s a massive fridge

LesbianCommander

Everyone here debating fake or real, or asking what's in the bag. I'm over here like, fuck that's a nice ass fridge.

Tha_Unknown

Yeah. Like if I was in that house I would think it were cabinets, until the owner opened it and walked into it.

No, but the lady is weakly pretending to stop the cat

Secure_Narwhal4045

Thanks, that's a relief! I thought she was fighting for her life

007beagle

Careful which baggie you grab outta the freezer there kitty 😉

CthulhusBrood

Sneaker has developed an unhealthy correlation between the dank nip she gets and the harvested organs I use to trade for said nip.

Cultural-Company282

That cat is clearly starving. The bottom of its food bowl has probably been visible for ten or eleven minutes, maybe even more.

cantstopwontstop355

Isn’t this the girl who starves her cat for videos like this?

Historical_Kiwi9565

They just happened to have a cameraman there?

Nigrumnoxx

Feed that cat. Damn.

CancusTreff

Either the cat is super hungry or these people do this all the time. Either way these are terrible owners.

007beagle

FFS So being ready to film something you know your cat has a tendency to do, is now a setup? I always thought a set up was completely faking it 🤔

princessgoulash

Yes the cat is a trained actor, obviously.

Goober97

I've seen so many people lately just crying fake at everything. Like what a fun life you must live to automatically assume everything is fake and setup But honestly with this video I see a cat owner that let's their cat walk over them without even trying to teach them 'no'

MaterialCarrot

Being suspicious of sourceless things posted on the internet is healthy.

Goober97

I agree but I'm talking about the unhealthy attachment people have to that idea

CautiousSector2664

Who are you to say what's healthy?

Goober97

Nobody important

RodneyBalling

Some cats do things they know they're not allowed to do just to get attention from you. My cat isn't allowed on the counters and tables, but he jumps on there whenever he wants to annoy me. When I check on him with the camera he's never on there, so he's not actually interested.

iblamethegnomes

We have a cat known for stealing meat from skillets on the stove.

BubbaSawya

I’ve never seen a cat want something so bad.

LivWilder

Great job pet owner for allowing your cat to eat plastic and cheese as you film it. Dumbass. Also this is fake.

LilyInvu

I have worse news for you, apparently that's a potato...raw potato, this idiot is letting her cat chew a raw potato

meatwadpen

This video is so cringe. Ugh.

CautiousSector2664

Why were they filming?

Catmium9928

Probably because the cat is known to do that. I get ready to film when I know my cat is about to do something weird it’s known to do.

iblamethegnomes

Everyone is forgetting the millions of b roll where they waited for this to happen. Cats can be jerks. I know I live with a carb ninja. I just never know exactly when he’ll strike.

sjaakarie

Is this a starving cat that has to give internet points?

YoSaffBridge11

This is clearly staged.

smallpoly

Cat is clearly CGI

CautiousSector2664

Staged bullshit.

mikenzeejai

How come whenever you see a video of a cat aggressively stealing food it's in Russian? Idk if it's just me but I never see like a brittish families cat stealing bread? Are Russian cats just angrier?

iblamethegnomes

You can have my carb ninja. I’ll give you two guesses where that moniker came from.

jamminamon

She's dumb af. Grab the neck.

nachthexen_

I fucking love when cats turn into absolute gremlins My old boy who passed last year was like this about certain stuff. Beef jerky was his favorite thing in the world. He would go MAD chasing you down, steal the bag from you and run away with it. If you put it in a cupboard or a drawer it would become his life mission to James Bond that shit open and obtain that delicious dried meat. He recognized the packaging, you didn’t even have to open it and he would turn into a goddamn monster about it lol His other favorite foods were spaghetti (with sauce) and ramen noodles. He bit every single person who met him except my partner and he loved me more than anything in the world. Miss that sweet little asshole. 🖤

VAX1S

Aw so cute. I love staged videos.

Melorawr

This video is just so frustrating to watch, I downvote it everytime it's posted. Stop posting this crap!

maluminse

What is that stuff?

-MarcoTraficante

Where's that video of I think a Ukranian woman talking to her cat and the cat listens and then meows back at her?
