Lmao same! When the first episode aired, I was out camping with my family, so I had the VCR programmed to record it while we were gone. I was *so excited* and thought about that show the entire time I was camping. I couldn't wait to get home and watch it.
And boy was I disappointed. I'd never realized at this point in my life that an adaptation could be so bad.
That said, with hindsight, I think the show deserves more credit than it gets. It really didn't do that bad a job, it just had gigantic shoes to fill. It should've been given a bigger budget. It's just not doable on the scale they tried to do it.

Yeah, it had a lot of other issues but an hour runtime and a decent budget would have done wonders for the show.
Kinda glad I never got to see this as a kid. There was obviously limited budget and technology but man they really were set up for failure.
