My City Pro 2023 started clicking when I am riding and put enough load on it or hit the right kind of bumps. I'd say mine "seems" to be the same issue as your but my issue is not near as loud or bad as yours in the vid. I have not yet engaged Apollo about this but I plan to. I myself was planning to spray lube all the friction points in the stem latch but you are saying bad idea?

ScootyWilly

Spraying on the stem latch is fine, but blindly spraying lube down the stem tube is a bad idea in my opinion, there's wiring down there and other stuff that might not necessarily like being covered in lube. I'm not expert but I wouldn't just spray lube down tubes hoping it fixes something.

Row-Boat

This is the exact problem I have been having. Earlier today I tried using the technique the support sent me. I was also unable to remove that large nut, even with an appropriately sized wrench that they suggested I use. The edges started wearing down so I don’t want to try anymore. Waiting to hear back from them now.

ScootyWilly

I might have to go to the repair shop then, probably too risky to attempt the repair ourselves.

Row-Boat

Agreed, don’t want to make it worse or cause a new problem in the process

ScootyWilly

Could you please let me know exactly what they told you to do? I might want to learn how to do it properly because I'm thinking after warranty we're on our own!

hunt_stevenson

Well, I went out and tried mine again and if I give it enough "umph", it does the exact same pop as yours...can someone send me the repair link? What a hassle for such a new scooter.

Looks like your stem can bend in relation to the neck. I would say either your direction nut is not keeping the steerer tight enough, or your stem is not connected tight enough. One or the other or both. Taking off the stem to get to the direction nut is going to be a pain in the ass, I had to use a rubber mallet to the stem (after it was loosened as much as possible), in order to get to the direction nut.

ScootyWilly

But once you did all that, it fixed the problem?

Logic_Contradict

Whatever wobble I had left was gone after. I made a tutorial on the Apollo City 2022 stem upgrade https://www.reddit.com/r/RideApolloOfficial/s/AuHoxeGv4C You can see what's involved in removing the stem, though you may not need a special spanner tool now since I think they may have improved that. After you get the stem off, you will see the direction nut. I had some clunk sound after upgrading the stem and so I had to remove it again and it took a while for me to check the direction nut before figuring out that was the problem.

ScootyWilly

Thanks for this!

ScootyWilly

Ah and yes the set nut is new, we can use a 24 mm wrench now but the metal seems soft, I'm receing the wrench from Amazon today so I might try this and hopefully I won't destroy the nut haha.

ScootyWilly

I think you've got somehow lucky to have had to deal with the older version of the set nut for the stem. That proprietary tool and nut was actually easier to remove, the holes gave a firmer grip and traction. The new nut is badly designed, the part where you put the wrench around is only a few mm high and the metal is weak. [As you can see it this picture](https://imgur.com/a/dwctE3v), I have a great wrench and used the other side too which has even more grip because it surrounds the whole nut... I even used a rubber mallet on the wrench to help unscrew the thing but it's impossible. I'm not sure if they put loctite in there but they certainly didn't think about the serviceable aspect in their R&D. I also have a feeling that when the tech guy at their Montreal workshop told me they didn't know how to fix, they'd never seen that and were waiting for the engineers... that they hit the same wall I did. Just a theory. I might give it another shot later, but I'll probably just put it back together and see what my next step is. I might totally destroy the weak nut top if I keep trying, it's bending already at a few spots.

Logic_Contradict

Did you loosen/remove the stem bolts before trying to unscrew the headset nut?

ScootyWilly

Yes both. It's rock solid.

ScootyWilly

Apollo told me to bring it to a repair shop since I'm in Montreal. I reassembled the scooter and will bring it on Wednesday. I guess I might give it another go once I'm out of warranty 😂

ScootyWilly

So I wasn't using the right tool anyway, should use a socket instead of a simple wrench (or a 16 mm Allen key) and I need to remove the cables from the nut by opening a little comportament under the neck and pulling the cables out. Once the cables are out, I can use a proper 24 mm socket wrench. So next time I attempt this I'll have the right tool and right technique!

offtothemoon321

Mine has the same. The technician finally got the suspected part and is fixing it now. Will update if problem is solved!

ScootyWilly

Please let me know what part the techician changed if possible!

Dangerous-Physics-37

You can tighten the stem inside.

JCurtisUK

The stem latch is adjustable. When My first pro was returned due to cracked stem, they upgraded it to the new latch you have. It was a little loose out the box, but it can be tightened [heres how](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1066827082530836490/1251880853932343316/image.png?ex=66703066&is=666edee6&hm=324817da8fafe913729df4dd67e97e43fdfb36d693193b6e56503d14adcde49c&)

ScootyWilly

Thanks but the clicking sound doesn't come from the folding mechanism but lower down the stem near the connection where the stem rotates.

Beneficial-Ad8737

Had the exact same problem. Was able to fix it by putting some silicone grease at the seam/gap below the folding latch (where the shaft rotates).

ScootyWilly

I don't think it's the same exact problem, I'm pretty sure in my case the stem is a bit loose against the directional nut, so even if grade would make the sound go away, it wouldn't fix the real problem, in my case anyway. I'm working on tightening properly the directional nut.
