Yes because I can easily ignore notifications that don't require intervention.

AmmoJoee

Agree with this comment. I give my watch a quick glance and keep it moving. A ton of alerts I don’t need to check my phone for. Time and battery saved.

ExtraGlutenPlzz

Keep it pushin Joe

DirtyDutch079

In a way, be getting notifications on the watch I look to see wat it is. Not important enough = letting the phone down Important = getting my phone So yeah in a way it’s reduced my time on my phone. Still getting a screen time of 8/10 hour’s daily though 🫣

greditora

Yes as by-product that I workout and walk way more

Completely! Especially since I can choose to have different notifications. I find myself not on Facebook or social media as much, which I sometimes have to be for work. But for those who truly do have an addiction that fear of missing out can really get to you. I found when I first got my watch. I got my notifications and I would hear them possibly from the phone as well, but I could just look at my watch and no oh it’s from Facebook or something and I could just put it away. So I knew I wasn’t missing anything, but those notifications weren’t enough for me to pick up my phone. I also have ADHD so picking up my phone I could doomscroll because I’ve meant to set a timer but suddenly I’m watching cat videos on YouTube. Intentionally or not. I’ve also found that although I still have certain notifications on my watch such as Facebook that I really don’t need, I’m less inclined to go feel the rush or do anything. Unless I’m tagged on a post for work. Additionally, I’ve coupled it with my AirPods and so sorry I’m able to text message or reply or anything like that. If you went with a cellular option, you would definitely be able to keep your phone at home which if that’s your ultimate goal it might be worth the investment. I was the same in which I did not invest in a cellular because I figured I’d have my phone with me all the time. Which is notably true I just don’t necessarily dig it out of my bag, but the cellular option I think might be nice because I do forget my phone a lot,

Honestly this was my reason for going cellular after having my last watch. For years and years I have not left the house once knowingly without the brick in my pocket. It's been so liberating I can't tell you not having the "crap have I got my phone" shakedown in the passage before leaving the house.  My wife and or children can get hold of me if needed and I don't find myself interrupting my own hobbies / walks etc. with a quick look on reddit because someone replied to something etc.  Honestly,  it's been a game changer for me personally :)

That’s wonderful! I am a late diagnosed AuDHD and my mom is probably the same. But her standards of things are so very, very very high standards but I have ADHD. I also grew up poor and my mom had that mentality as well so she’s the belief that a dishwasher is a luxury. But I’m also physically disabled with rheumatoid arthritis and I have found doing things that may or may not make sense to her or others or even cost high initial cost is worth it. Like I always buy pork chops and chicken because that was the most affordable. But I found myself not eating or cooking the food and it would just go to waste. Because I don’t like chicken or pork chops I’m more of a salmon and shrimp kind of gal and although yes, it’s pricier, I’m actually more receptive to eating those things, less wasteful and all actuality it’s not that more expensive because I usually pair it with a noodle or rice. Let alone the simple fact that I’m actually eating on a regular basis which is essential for my health Or keeping on brand with Apple, I just invested in the iPad Pro M4 13 inch cellular and spend an exorbitant amount of money on it and yes, a MacBook probably would’ve been more efficient or long time usage or more powerful or all of those things. But I’d literally need it for the touch aspect, and my use case. I can’t use trackpad very well because of my hands. And it’s just not ergonomic or flexible because sometimes I can’t sit in the same position for longer than a few minutes. This all allows a lot of more flexibility and I still have that mindset of too expensive or cheaper versions or options there are more cost-effective. But ultimately, for my quality of life, the cost is not that much higher considering I’m hurting myself otherwise. I know this is just trauma and my own mental aspect of things, but once I’ve been able to embrace the fact that there’s just different ways about going about things it’s not necessarily wrong but quality and priorities are different for everyone. Cognitively I’ve always understood this, but impact it’s definitely a completely different story. Kudos to you on your cellular option. I love to know my theory is correct and when I upgrade, I will probably be getting the cellular option. I actually did upgrade from the seven to the nine and Siri works so much better which is essential for me because I used for everything and wish I could use it for more than what she’s capable of lol.but being able to lift my watch and talk to consistently over the seven is a huge change and totally worth the additional hundred or so dollars I paid

FrogOnALogInTheBog

I'm currently trying to actively give up my phone. At the end of the day, the phone has very little on it that I actually need that I can't access via watch. The only real kicker right now is photography. I'm really torn on buying meta glasses until apple comes out with something usable. EDIT: Also, honestly, much as I hate to admit it- there's nothing in the new phones, for me. Better camera? my eyes are maxed out on what I have. Better battery? I charge at night and never have a problem. Very little changes to operating system or user interface, very little changes to anything that isn't already maxed out by what I can even see... I honestly consider the phone to be dead. The future, and the now, is wearables.

mulderc

Yes. At work i keep my phone at my desk as I don't need it on me. Working out I leave my phone at home or in the locker as I don't need it. I even most of my instagram is through my watch which keeps me focused on just the people I follow and keeps my instagram browsing short. Similarly I use it for mastodon and that means I can quickly just check the accounts I follow and get on with my day without getting lots in a social media blackhole.

mtdemlein

Yes

ResponsibleAnt4235

Yes, its nice to see notifications and decide if it is something actionable now, or if it is something that can wait for later.

somewhat_difficult

When I got the Watch Series 3 cellular I started leaving my phone at home on the charger and barely used it for 1-2 years, I just used my Watch, laptop & a small, “point & shoot” style camera. It was definitely workable but obviously had some compromises. Then a few things happened, I upgraded my camera to a mirrorless one that was no longer pocketable, I got a car with CarPlay, COVID hit and I needed to scan QR codes, my Watch battery started struggling to make it through a full day, and the battery on my laptop died and I wasn’t able to replace it for a while - so I went back to carrying and using my phone as my primary device. I still go out sometimes without my phone, but I’ve generally fallen out of the habit of using the Watch first so my screen time is huge.

LRS_David

I have my watch set to no sound. Vibrate only. And when around people I silence my phone. My watch is my "what does my phone want and do I need to take it out" indicator.

capacity38

Made me use my phone more

chrisdancy

No

zombiejeebus

Not really

EvilRunning

Only reason why I got the Ultra.

Jolly-Tomatillo-8966

Yes. I don’t have the cellular version but it helps a lot that I can finally leave my phone in my room while doing chores or in my bag while running errands. Very convenient especially when I need to use timer/reminders/calculator and a lot more but want my hands to be free.

YoungOaks

I think it helps that I don’t have to look at my phone for the time, which means i don’t see all my notifications or mindlessly start going through things.

firestar268

Nope

Economy-Weird-2368

Yes, especially during working hours.

fruitbasketinabasket

First yes, but now it’s same. Was actually one of my main reasons to get AW. I guess I do not NEED my phone as much, now that I have AW, but it’s a habit that’s difficult to break

StunningBank

Make a list of apps you use most on iPhone. Actually it was already done for you just check settings->battery. It can be YouTube or messenger and music streaming service. In that case I would say you won’t win any time with watch and still spend more time with iPhone. But if you just read many notifications and rarely reply then you could save some time and reduce iPhone usage. It’s not about device any more but about apps you use and how you use them.

redditor977

Yes but only because I am now working out 2+ hours every day

OverCauliflower1587

Definitely, I can’t go a day without having my watch. I limit social media on my phone and the notifications I allow. My watch only gets notifications like imessage, calls, activity, etc. This makes it so that I know every notification I get on my watch is important and I’m not always getting alerts. I keep the recent workout widget in my Smart Stack so I keep my motivation to workout and stay active throughout the week.

casualAlarmist

Absolutely! I can go an entire day at work without ever taking my phone out of my pocket.
