You’ll pay more than $200 for installation.

Won't I pay that with a certified installer too? The closest place quoted $149.

Have a look on the Miele website. The option between 12% and the 10 year warranty is what the current promotion is from Miele Canada. The money up front saved is about one third of the price of a 10 year warranty. I would pay full price and opt for the free 10 year warranty. The 10 year is worth about $600. If you have a big family or simply plan on using the machine regularly, the warranty is like an insurance plan to cover your big ticket item for 10 years. A service call costs over $300 and parts are much more than that depending on the issue if you have one. Your future self will thank you if ever you need to call for service and have a $500-$1000 repair done for free. It sounds like capital one is giving you a deal that you could easily get from the manufacturer itself. If you’re using rewards through capital one then all of what I said might be inapplicable but just figured I would share this.

Ooh, this is interesting, but where do you see that on their site? I'm finding something like that for ranges, not dishwashers.

If you click on the dishwasher category on the website it should show your options for the warranty or the discount. If you are not in Canada though this promotion may not be active where you are unfortunately. Good luck with the purchase hope you find something suitable that lasts a long time!

> I would pay full price and opt for the free 10 year warranty. The 10 year is worth about $600. I wouldn't pay for the warranty. I have rentals so a sample size of maybe 150 appliances over the past decade. Sometimes one has issues, I hire someone and they fix it. Typically fixes are around $150-$250. Last year I had a drier fail while still under warranty. First time in my life I made warranty claim. Absolute worst experience of my life. About 8-10 service calls, the warranty guy completely destroyed the machine for what was a very minor issue originally, and finally I got a new replacement machine (original issue was $20 part to be replaced, I have seen same problem on machines after warranty). Much better off saving the money, and if you have any issues paying a good appliance repairman to fix. You will almost certainly save money, and aren't stuck dealing with the cheapest fool the firm subs out warranty claims to.

In this case the warranty would be free if the promotion is applicable. I understand your point as someone who’s had a good experience with most of their appliances. I specialize in repairing these machines in particular and do it for a living. I can promise that if you want to hire someone worth their salt who knows how to fix them and has access to parts- it will run you much more than $150-$250 for a repair depending on what is wrong with it. The “warranty guy” that fixed your machine poorly obviously didn’t know what he was doing. That sounds like the company contracts the work out and has not a clue who they are sending. Nor does the guy they’re sending have a clue how to fix them. With these appliances there are service partners or factory trained technicians and most of the time that is all they do, they know these machines. For most other brands you will get any average joe sent out to fix them and it can be a hit or miss. It’s misleading how many repair places there are that claim to know what they’re doing on certain equipment just to collect a labour fee from somebody. I have had a lot more customers wishing they had bought the warranty than not. In any case, it is a roll of the dice.

That model also has a $400 rebate. I just sold one.

Understood -- but that's available either way

A large portion of the US has no available service for Miele. Make sure someone in your area actually services them.
