Nothing about this looks real. I was under the impression that photography was about capturing the essence of reality itself in a picture; however beautiful, ugly, peaceful, chaotic or whatever else it might be. This looks so overly edited to the point that if you told me this was a digital painting I'd believe you. Way too artificially altered.
There is no rules for any kind of art. Photography is just a tool. Capturing reality in an accurate way is something some photographers do, but not all.
Personally I photograph Things in nature, but I never try to make the photo look like the thing did in real life.
it's funny you got downvoted when you're 100% correct. Ansel even said something like "I don't show you what it looked like, I show you what I want you to see" (but more eloquently)
The photography AND editing skill required to pull off this shot from the op is high. It's a brilliant piece imo. The lighting is wonderful with that soft blue light directly behind the model, refracting in her transparent rain slicker. The details are satisfyingly sharp (almost TOO sharp tbh but it works here). The super shallow depth of field while also having all of the details perfectly sharp is super well done.
idk. I love it.
Looks absolutely stunning, especially the color scheme. It would be interesting to see a side by side comparison to the unedited version and what effects were used to achieve this.
This has been edited and altered until it doesn't look real. Does that make it good or bad?
At the very least it makes it photography + photoshop
technically it's very well done but i just don't like it. too edited. too unrealistic expression on the model

Dodging, burning, cropping, under/over exposure... All creative tools.

the other comments made realise it is a digital drawing. Still, whatever it is. It’s beautiful
