If they're listed as contact and didn't cosign they are NOT responsible for the loan, BUT the lender may attempt to collect on the debt and may even lie to get that money. Collections will almost always do and say whatever they want in order to get money from someone.

Your friend needs to demand a copy of the agreement she doesn’t recall signing.

I would expect that if if this were going to hit A's credit card, it would already be showing.
