I'm not 100% that I've ever had one, but I think I did 25+ years ago. If I'm going to have mass-produced snack cake, I'd rather have a Swiss Roll or Zebra Cake.
All I know is, ever since I was a boy in the 80s, if I had 25¢ to spend on a snack and I'm looking at that huge rack of sweets, I'm choosing the fruit pie every time. Cut to 20 years later and someone was like "hey, you should microwave that for like 15 seconds", completely changing the snack game forever.

Like 3rd grade I felt extremely nauseous after eating them and haven’t since because man I just can’t put myself through eating one again. The smell still makes me nauseous it’s just so unnaturally flavored it makes me feel sick. Even typing this I’m feeling a little sick.
A few months ago, I actually love Twinkies.
But I work at a company that works with hostess, so there is always samples around the office when I go in.
I probably have a couple a month. They're just little chiffon cakes with some slight citrus flavor and cream. Delicious, fun, and chiffon cake is pretty tricky to pull off at home if you're not a moderately experienced baker. Honestly, for all their bad rap they're not that bad health wise compared to other snacks (two Twinkies has something like 280 calories, while a single glazed doughnut from my local grocer has about 350 to say nothing of the higher calorie fritters etc in the bakery). People complain about additives and preservatives, but I guarantee you those people are eating the exact same additives and preservatives and other food. Twinkies have just swept the public imagination as some sort of bizarre Frankenfood, when they're actually just a mass produced version of a very simple and delicious snack.
maybe once a year. i indulge in nostalgic junk food from time to time. i just grubhub'ed mcdonalds so i could have hash browns which are the best thing they serve. a lot of drug stores and delis have twinkies and the similar so i'm sure they turn around that stock frequently, otherwise they wouldn't offer it.

In the mid 90s, I saw a guy mow through a box of 10 chocodiles (choco-covered twinkies) in about 30 seconds. On the one hand, I was horrified. But on the other I kinda wanted to see what made someone willing to do that. So after waffling about it for a few years, I think I finally broke down and had one right about Y2K. It was ok.
