This is an isolator and should be left on,use the on off button on the shower to switch it off, the pull chord is for maintenance.
Pull hard until it clicks and the off shows on
So I can pull it and hear a slight click, but nothing happens.
For reference, I’m using the same amount of pull to click on the light switch next to it. The “click” of the shower cord feels wrong, and it’s a slightly duller click compared to the light switch one.
I don’t want to yank too hard and break the shower cord, I get the feeling it might be broken
If it's switching to on and nothing happens then it's probably faulty and needs replacing, these can be a real pain if they weren't installed properly to start with. Loose connections are an issue too. Get an electrician in
So it’s not even switching to on, I pull the cord and there’s a “click” (but not a proper one if that makes sense), but the switch stays off.
I could pull it harder and try and see if that works but I don’t think that’s the best idea, in case I break it.
Pull the cord
I have, and it feels like it locks before anything happens. Don’t want to pull harder and break it.

You shouldn't have to use too much force, but if your pulling and it's doing nothing then it's probably in need of replacement
Ok not a problem. Thanks for all your help, I appreciate it!
