Richard Hunt. Openly gay puppeteer in the Muppets. He puppeteered Beeker, Janice, Scooter, and many more. He and his partner lost their lives to AIDS, but not before making the world a happier place
I was very glad I watched the 2004 movie, *Alexander,* with someone who had studied him extensively. Otherwise, I would have been lost. He really needs a TV series. And what TV it would be! The epic battles, the murderous treachery of his mother, the personal tension between Alexander's wife and the love of his life, Hephaestion, the political intrigue, his contentious relationship with his father--there's so much possibility for juicy character development and plot arcs that pull people in.
There's a [documentary](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.netflix.com/tudum/articles/alexander-making-of-a-god-release-date-trailer-news&ved=2ahUKEwjZj7vQ5tyGAxWNs4QIHfiPCD8QFnoECCIQAQ&usg=AOvVaw2bHMUCxxpU3Q9Egud2bmZK) on Netflix about him lol.
It’s probably already been done, but I’d like to see a documentary about the Sacred Band of Thebes. A troop of Ancient Greek soldiers that consisted of 150 pairs of male lovers. It was thought that they fought harder because of the bonds they had with each other. They were wiped out by Philip II of Macedon who supposedly wept over their bodies when he realized they were a band of lovers. So he buried them and put up a monument in their honour.
Julius is a pretty alright example here, though I wouldn't say that Hadrian, Trajan, and Nero were good people lol. Id also have to look into Basil lol.
Julius would be a good example, I just didn't want to take all the spots.
And nah, Ive just been listing gay guys that would be interesting to learn about
Baron von Steuben. It would be fascinating to see how he managed to successfully command troops even though he apparently wasn't very dominant. Could be a great film...
Nicomedes the fourth, King of Bithynia. Well known to have been involved in a sexual (romantic?) relationship with Julius Caesar. Rumors circulated that Caesar was the bottom, the goal of the rumors was to harm him politically. I find it so interesting that the fact Caesar was in a sexual relationship with another man wasn't scandalous but the idea of him being the bottom was. Their relationship would make a great HBO series. Theo James as Caesar and Jamie Dornan as Nicomedes.
Emperor Hadrian was also known to be gay, or at least to have had sexual/romantic relationships with other men. His beloved Antinous drowned when he was very young, causing Hadrian to "weep like a woman" and order the Roman people to worship Antinous as a god, temple and all. This could be a good Hadrian centric show depicting the barbarism of ancient Rome, classic HBO/Starz/Showtime fare. Jamie Bell as Hadrian, Maxim Baldry as Antinous.
Emperor Ai of the Han dynasty had a well known romantic relationship with a courtier named Dong Xian (perhaps the origin of the word dong for penis?). The emperor had a residence built for Dong Xian that allegedly rivaled the imperial palace itself. The two fell asleep together one day and when the emperor woke up, Dong was still asleep and covering part of the emperor's robe. Rather than waking him, the emperor cut the sleeve off his own robe so he could leave without disturbing Dong. Cut Sleeve remains a Chinese euphemism for homosexuality. I see this one as more of a romantic drama with Jiang Wen cast as the emperor and Wu Jing as the courtier.
Yes, I think it would be "Julius, Caesar". Like Theoden, King, from Lord of the Rings. I actually learned about the relationship with Nicomedes from my Latin teacher in high school.
I am an historian and teach and the accurate naming would be, "Gaius Julius, Caesar" or "Caesar Gaius Julius."
Everyone calls him Julius Caesar because dating back to at least Shakespeare's play (and well beyond) people got lazy in copying the full name (not to mention that paper and parchment were not cheap and space mattered to scribes) so the vernacular reduced it to "Julius Caesar."
But Caesar is a title in Latin, not a proper name.
Odessa Madre was a black, lesbian mafia Don in the early 1900's. I learned about her in an African-American history class in college, and wondered why nobody (Queen Latifah) never made a movie about her. It's a very compelling story.
William S Burroughs - Cronenberg made the Naked Lunch film in the 90s, and Queer is coming out this year starring Daniel Craig as Burroughs/William Lee and directed by Luca Guadagnino.
Although, he should absolutely not be a role model, unless you're an artist/writer/musician or something else where you can channel your drug addiction and mental illness into art.
For those of you who don't know it, there is no nudity or lunch in Naked Lunch, and it's probably not what you're expecting when you hear that title. The book is simultaneously one of the best and worst things I've ever read, and it's influenced every cool person since the 60s.
Roberta Close - a very, if not the most, famous transgender woman of Brazil, she even was presented in tv shows as the most beautiful woman of Brazil (in the 70's and 80's), was a muse for singers and compositors, and an activist.
Jorge Laffond - dancer, actor and comedian that made open space in the brazilian tv for gay characters using humour (Vera Verão), and being an cultural and inteligent icon in interviews.
His story is the most illustrative way of teaching youngsters not to join the Leopard Face Eating Party even if you think you can not only survive by acting ostentatiously vicious in order to fit in but even outsmart and beat those stupid fuckers. They always stab in the back.
Lou Sullivan. He was a gay trans man, and he's already had his diaries published, it would be pretty easy to write a movie with that.
Also I'd love to see a movie about King James and his boyfriend, Steenie. And yes, I'm talking about THAT king James. I would laugh so hard when those bible thumping religious homophobes that their precious king James Bible was written by a man very clearly in love with another man! He even based his description of Jesus off of Steenie. That's why people assume Jesus was a white guy with long wavy hair.
Rudolf Nureyev, i saw videos of him dancing and some stories about his life, they are very interesting, and also that he was an wonderful and talented dancer (not only ballet, and i love the two men tango scene in Valentino)
Renato Russo too, he was a big part of an entire cultural revolution in Brazil, was a very good musician and still influences people more than 30 years after his death
There was a lady in the uk not sure about the location, she opened up her house for gay men as a Cafe 4 them to have a safe place to be themselves, she was bashed publicly and sued for that and she took the fall for them and she didn't rat , now this is a fuckin allie not the bullshit we see these days 🌈💕
Being an allie is not just to be ok with us living and not bother us , it's about doing something and contributing 💓
Jeffery Rackover and his “son”/lover James Rackover. For some reason the story just fascinates me.

I love this. I did a similar thing but only managed to do a few portraits. I think these guys are interesting. Magnus Hirschfeld, Walt Whitman and Alan Turing. Somebody made a comment 'already happened' in reference to there already being coverage of Alexander the Great. So what, everybody has a new take and a new angle - the more word we can get out there the better.
Jean Genet, Michel Foucault, Peter Christopherson, Ralf Marsault, Paul Virilio, Alexander Bard, Leo Bersani, Carl Panzram, Kirk Johnson, La Pequeña Hillary Hulk, Vaginal Crème Davis, Cheryl Merkowski, Madge Weinstein, Debra Wilkerson, Hagatha TurdAIDS, Andy Melton, Fistina Sprudel, Joel Osteen, Wanda Wisdom, Leigh Bowery

He critiqued it as much as he critiqued culture as a whole.

Thanks, didn't know about this! Though I probably wouldn't erase his relationship with Sand (bi people exist yada yada...)
Frederick the Great
Yes yes yes. I would cry so hard watching the execution of von Katte.

Nah the “queen of Bithynia” was a slur towards Julius and not rooted in fact, only to discredit him
I teach history. Small correction here. "Caesar" is not his last name! His name was Gaius Julius. He was granted the title of "Caesar."
Yes, I think it would be "Julius, Caesar". Like Theoden, King, from Lord of the Rings. I actually learned about the relationship with Nicomedes from my Latin teacher in high school.

I'll have to look her up as well 🤔 Besides kill people and have a life of crime, was there anything else about her besides being a lesbian?

You definitely didn't clarify that in your post. I have no love for Kevin Spacey, but it would be a wild ride to watch the documentary.

Kevin Spacey camed as innocent in the end, for sure he did less evil as all Historical people from above
Yeah, he was acquitted.
Agree.
