This is so true. I used to be annoyed by frodo until I got older and felt more truly the weight of the world. He symbolizes the pressure of spiritual torment.
lol I do, it’s just that Sam fought through all that bullshit coming from Frodo. I understand it was the ring causing it. But I just don’t think Frodo would have been strong enough like Sam to turn back and save Sam.
Have you read the books? Frodo is remarkably tough and wise, easily noticing Gollum's treachery and subduing him. The movies make Frodo a bit of a pushover (Faramir and Denethor as well, but I'd go into a rant, lol).
lol no I havnt. I’ve bought every book written by Tolkien and his son. I havnt read any yet, waiting for a day I can truly enjoy them. I have 3 kids and currently starting a business. Too busy for that right now.
But for someone who hasn’t read any of them I know quite a bit, I listen to a lot of fan theories, summaries, and history of middle earth.
I didn’t know this though. He still is hostile towards Sam and Sam leaves then turns back correct?
No, that was entirely a movie invention. Frodo caught Gollum's sneakiness and cursed him with the Ring. Sam thought Frodo was being a bit naive and too trusting, and Frodo makes Gollum swear an oath on the Ring, promising destruction by fire of he ever touches Frodo again, which obviously comes true in the end. Frodo and Sam stick together until the very end, prepared to die side by side.
When you have time I highly recommend reading the books for the greater depth of character and better portrayal of them, especially Aragorn, Denethor, Frodo, Faramir and Elrond. The movies massacred a bunch to fit it all into the movies.
You gotta take the time to read them to your kids, some of my most cherished memories with my dad are from him reading us a few chapters of The Hobbit and eventually Lord of the Rings before bed
Sam and Frodo from LOTR
[This scene is amazing ](https://youtu.be/3H3MQooOLn4?si=Dhoqfb_e8mBhqnRh)
[and this](https://youtu.be/BKIgv8AhffA?si=GMzcoZpfYz95qqpP)
Carter (Chris Tucker) and Lee (Jackie Chan) From The Rush Hour Trilogy.
The bloopers are hilarious and their chemistry is awesome!!
*You go this way and I go that way...*
Very funny duo. Not the same, but that reminds me of Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson in Shanghai Noon. They were very funny together. I love when Owen Wilson says something like, “John Wayne? That’s a terrible name for a cowboy.” And then the tub scene was hilarious to me.
Django unchained. Django and Schultz
The banter between them and the sheer lack of racism Dr Schultz expresses amidst slave trade America is just an awesome and endearing combination.
The friends in the 40 Year Old Virgin.
They're not perfect, they get some stuff wrong, but they've got each others backs and want to see each other be happy. I love Seth Rogan going to bat for Paul Rudd only to be told he doesn't understand the situation fully. You can criticize them for trying to push Andy too hard but Andy WAS regressing to childhood in a really harmful way.
Plus the entire "You know how I know you're gay?" conversation is peak banter.
"You know how I know you're gay? You have a bumper sticker that says 'I like balls in, or around, my mouth.'"
"Wait, that's GAY?!"
Adam and Kyle. *50/50*. The scene where Adam (JGL) finds the book "Facing Cancer Together" in Kyle's (Seth Rogan's) apartment after Adam got drunk and lost his shit on Kyle choked me up.
Not a film but a series. Ragnar and Athelstan in Vikings.
Both were from such different backgrounds but respected, trusted and loved each other implicitly. So much so that when Athelstan dies Ragnar is never quite the same
Some of my favorites have already been mentioned, so here's a few more:
Indiana Jones, Marcus Brody, Sallah and Henry Jones. The end of the Last Crusade was the perfect send-off for those charcters.
Han Solo and Luke Skywalker.
James Bond and Felix Leiter
TE Lawrence and Sherif Ali
Rick Blaine and Louis Renault
Chief Brody, Hooper and Quint. Brody also gets my vote for best all time "Everyman" in film.
Jim Douglas and Tennesse Steinmetz
Jim Hawkins and Long John Silver
Ned Land, Conseil and Professor Aronnax
One I always look back to is Ray Romano and Mark Duplass in the movie Paddleton (2019). I always liked that they don't really have anything obvious in common as they are about 20 years apart, don't work together, aren't related, they're just neighbours who bond over movies, pizza and a ball game they made up. Very wholesome movie, check it out.
Doc Holliday and Wyatt Earp from the 1993 "Tombstone" movie.
Turkey Creek Jack Johnson: "Doc, you oughta be in bed, what the hell you doin this for anyway?"
Doc Holliday: "Wyatt Earp is my friend."
Turkey Creek Jack Johnson: "Hell, I got lots of friends."
Doc Holliday: "I don't."
Not a movie, don't shoot me...
Denny Crane and Alan Shore on Boston Legal. One is much older than the other but they're the best of friends - it reminded me of the relationship I have with one of my friends (platonic, don't worry) and it really warmed my heart.
I think Remember the Titans has a lot of great relationships, examples of both good and bad, growing and unchanging. Obviously the racial component and seeing beyond color, but there's conflict between themselves within each race, some who learn from that, and some guys who never cared about it at all. The teamwork between the boys, the teamwork between the coaches, what it means to be a leader, what it takes to overcome ego and step down for others to make the path. So many people in movies seem fake, but this was a very human movie and I love their interactions.
[Left side! Strong side! Left side!](https://youtu.be/-AWtpFqKD-o)
[Ain't No Mountain and the whole locker room banner.](https://youtu.be/cshMYPMKtIU)
["I don't see any livestock around" and the fight.](https://youtu.be/bd-3W124doE)
I could include the last scene, but if you haven't seen the movie, go watch it. I didn't even come close to linking the best parts.
Maverick and Goose in Top Gun. But I’m also going to throw TV shows in amongst some of my favorite male relationships. Turk and JD - Scrubs, Mark Greene and Doug Ross, ER, and Beavis & Butt-Head.
Danny and Ray (Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines) from Running Scared (1986). An average, somewhat generic 80s buddy-cop film is elevated by the chemistry between these two guys.
Harley Davidson and the Marlboro man
James Daulton and Wade Garrett from Roadhouse
Both of these movies are what they are, but the dynamic these characters had feels real and raw in a way that I can't explain.
Cage and Pascal in "The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent."
It's beautiful. To see two lonely men meet each other, only to discover they are kindred spirits. Watching them just melt in the presence of each other every time they bond over their passions. It's such a lovely bromance movie.
Once upon a time in Hollywood. Cliff and Rick’s bond is closest I’ve seen with the bond I have with my friend. “When you come to the end of the line, with a buddy who is more than a brother and a little less than a wife…” the line, “who is more than a brother and little less than a wife” is what stuck with me. When we both watched the film the theaters, we both knew that Cliff and Rick’s bond is so similar to what we have. Plus we’re both Tarantino fans which made it that much more magical when we watched it.
Legolas and Gimli in LOTR. Friendship that blossomed from competition, that led to Gimli going to Valinor.
"What about side by side, with a friend?" 🥺
Aye. I could do that.
It was at that moment he questioned his entire existence
Yeah it’s hard not to love these two dudes. Just two bros from two very different backgrounds slugging it out together.
aragorn and literally everyone. lotr is ripe with healthy male relationships
Gandolf and Pippin are my favorite.
Ehh nothing beats sam and Frodo, not so much Frodo. But Sam is a fucking friend you die for.
Frodo is literally carrying a cursed item that made several other characters kill for it. Cut him some slack.

This is good advice. I’ll do that actually. Thank you.
Frodo spent the full measure of his willpower carrying the most evil object in existence.
God I hate casual Frodo slander. Fucking idiots
Frodo wouldn't have gotten far without Sam
Fool of a Took!
My favorite is Legolas and Frodo
I see what you did there. Have alot of relationships like that in my life.
To be fair a bow is probably pretty valuable to an elf of the woodland realms.
[ARAGORN vs. Toxic Masculinity](https://youtu.be/pv_KAnY5XNQ?si=rcXuKYBRd7IjaA4b) would concur. Also, one of my favorite channels
Riggs and Murtaugh
Lethal Weapon 5, 6, or 7?
Pepper Jack should have won an Oscar. Still can't believe they subbed him like that.
Go suck an eeeeeegg
I’m too old for this shit.
Hell yeah
Lloyd and Harry in Dumb and Dumber.
"His head fell off"
He was pretty old.
This is what I came to say!
MOCK
ING
I don’t know Lloyd, the French are assholes
Sam and Frodo from LOTR [This scene is amazing ](https://youtu.be/3H3MQooOLn4?si=Dhoqfb_e8mBhqnRh) [and this](https://youtu.be/BKIgv8AhffA?si=GMzcoZpfYz95qqpP)
This was my first thought but honestly I think I like Merry and Pippin better.
Mike and Sully - monsters inc (To add another one to the mix)
Banger movies no matter what ppl say 🔥🔥
Wtf who's saying anything bad about monsters inc
Oh man. What about Woody and Buzz - Toy Story?
Bubbles, Ricky, Julian.
Yes! Definitely them!! I don’t think them three know how to _not_ be friends with one another
Carter (Chris Tucker) and Lee (Jackie Chan) From The Rush Hour Trilogy. The bloopers are hilarious and their chemistry is awesome!! *You go this way and I go that way...*

Yes. They're good in that one too!! The times wow Owen has said in that one..
“Tito!!! Toto is what we ate for dinner last night!”
Django unchained. Django and Schultz The banter between them and the sheer lack of racism Dr Schultz expresses amidst slave trade America is just an awesome and endearing combination.
Butch and Sundance.
This was my first thought
Original and best buddy movie.
Shawshank: Andy & Red.
YES. It was beautiful
>”I must admit I didn't think much of Andy first time I laid eyes on him; looked like a stiff breeze would blow him over.”
Tyler Durden and his relationship with Tyler Durden.
That was not a healthy relationship
The narrator isn't called Tyler Durden.
Marty McFly and Doc Brown from Back to the Future
Great Scott!
The friends in the 40 Year Old Virgin. They're not perfect, they get some stuff wrong, but they've got each others backs and want to see each other be happy. I love Seth Rogan going to bat for Paul Rudd only to be told he doesn't understand the situation fully. "You know how I know you're gay? You have a bumper sticker that says 'I like balls in, or around, my mouth.'" "Wait, that's GAY?!"
the “you know how i know you’re gay? you listen to coldplay” changed the entire trajectory of coldplay’s success lol
I love Coldplay and that's still maybe my favorite line in the movie. It's VERY funny.
Underrated
Peter Klaven and Sydney Fife in *I Love You, Man* Bonus from the same movie: Peter's dad and Hank Mardukas.
Slappa da bass!
I couldn't think of the name, but yes! I love that bromance movie
I was looking for this comment +1
..............and Robbie.
Came here to this
Sandlot
I can’t remember their names but the Captain (Russell Crowe) and the ships doctor (Paul Bettany) in Master and Commander!
Captain Jack Aubrey and Dr. Stephen Maturin off the top of my head. Great characters and the books are fantastic!
One of the best male friendships in any media, imo. In the books, their friendship gets tested by women too and it's handled well.
Forest Gump and Lt Dan
Don’t forget Bubba!
Stand By Me
Cheech and Chong
Adam and Kyle. *50/50*. The scene where Adam (JGL) finds the book "Facing Cancer Together" in Kyle's (Seth Rogan's) apartment after Adam got drunk and lost his shit on Kyle choked me up.
This movie is so underrated
Sad af
Alfred and Bruce Wayne in The Dark Knight trilogy.
any laurel and hardy movie 🎬
Good will hunting: all of them.
Will and Chuckie on the construction site is the best. It’s real, that’s how conversations with real male friends happen.
I dunno; I didn't think Lambeau and Will's relationship was all that healthy.
Not a film but a series. Ragnar and Athelstan in Vikings. Both were from such different backgrounds but respected, trusted and loved each other implicitly. So much so that when Athelstan dies Ragnar is never quite the same
Pullo and Vorenus from Rome.
Came to post this. Thirteen!

I know it's overestimated in real life, but Tony Lipp and Doc Shirley from The Green Book
One I always look back to is Ray Romano and Mark Duplass in the movie Paddleton (2019). I always liked that they don't really have anything obvious in common as they are about 20 years apart, don't work together, aren't related, they're just neighbours who bond over movies, pizza and a ball game they made up.
