I’ve never seen it straight through and it’s one of my favorite movies. Took me forever to see whole thing and one of the last parts I saw was the varmit.
The Dude abides, and stress takes a back seat. Life lessons with The Big Lebowski – my kind of therapy! What's your favorite quote from the laid-back master himself?
YOU HAVENT SEEN AVATAR? I NEVER SAW AVATAR. I WANTED TO READ THE BOOK FIRST, BUT THEN I REALIZED THERE IS NO BOOK VERSION OF AVATAR. WHAT ARE YOU ALL DOING FOR ST PATTIES DAY?
It's one of my favorite movies, Brando is so damn good in it, I cried when he saw Sonny in the morgue and said, "Look how they massacred my boy!" What's amazing is you can't even see his eyes when he says it, they are in shadow. I prefer Godfather over Godfather 2 just because it has a lot more Brando in it.
I was wondering why that meme seemed to come out of nowhere and was suddenly *everywhere* on social media leading up to one of their releases. Then it came out that it was all part of an ad campaign by universal and it made so much sense.
I would have loved to watch that marketing meeting. “We don’t even need to pay for airtime. Just photoshop vin diesel into a bunch of pics and plaster the word ‘family’ everywhere!”
Also the cameo of the real life “Drift King” playing the part of grizzled dock worker, shaking his head in disappointment as he watches the kid practice his drifting.
Casablanca is amazing, I love that movie. Citizen Kane, I would only recommend if you love film history. In my opinion, it's a very good movie, but at this point it's mostly cool bc you're seeing the things it did that influenced later movies
My wife and I visited Morocco last year. We were in Portugal and realized how close we were to Africa so we flew over to Marrakech (underwhelming) and then Casablanca (nice town on the coast). There was a business called Ricks Cafe, a recreation of the bar in the movie (which was done on a soundstage in Burbank, CA). I'm a big fan of the movie and the inside was well done actually. We were there for lunch so it was too early for live piano music. They had lots of memorabilia upstairs. It is a "white tablecloth" kind of place with fancy waiters. We had a nice lunch for about $25 US (not bad).
I bought a Ricks Cafe t-shirt and some salt/pepper shakers, kind of disappointing in terms of souvenirs to buy. I thought a great idea for a souvenir would be "Letters of Transit". They take your photo and put it into a fake little passport thing. They can stamp on it "Letter of Transit - This document cannot be refused at any border" (even by the Nazis).
We went during a heat wave so that affected our experience of Morocco negatively.
I got to watch Casablanca on the big screen recently. It was amazing. I had seen it several times on TVs , but it was completely mesmerizing in the theater. I kept dreading it being over.
When I used to tell people I hadn't seen it and didn't want to, it would turn into a big thing of them trying to make me watch it. So I just started lying and saying I didn't need to see again. Problem solved, and to this day I haven't seen it, and I'm am just fine that.
I watched it 5 or so years ago. You should watch it, especially if you grew up in the 90s. It's INSANE how many cartoons and shows parodied scenes from the movie. It felt like I had seen the movie already because I recognized most of the bits.
I loved this, but because I watched it in high school in the ‘80s when it came out and I’m the same age as the cast (or at least Molly Ringwald). So being a teen watching this movie in the year it came out was more relateable. And when I say I watched it in high school, I mean that near the end of the school year, we had an optional assembly in the gym and they projected the movie on the wall. So it was a movie about teens in high school in 1985 and we watched it as teens, in our high school, in 1985z
However I’ve also watched it enough times to not need to watch it anymore.
Avatar.
I watched the intro years ago and fell asleep like 10 minutes in. I don’t know why, but I just never got back around to watching it after that.
Citizen Kane
I remember reading about it way back in High School, and it was supposed to be this ground breaking great movie, but I've never seen it.
Rosebud...

I used to be the “wtf you’ve never seen Star Wars?!?!” reaction until i grew up and realized it’s just a movie and not everyone is interested in those kinds of movies
As a huge Star Wars fan, I used to have a big reaction to someone telling me they never seen any of the movies, but now days it feels like if you haven't seen it yet, then there is probably no chance you would even like it.
Even if you haven't seen it, its still everywhere and you know things about it like "oh yeah, thats Darth Vader, thats a storm trooper, thats a lightsaber." If those things haven't drawn you in to at least try and watch the movies, then there just isn't any point. Its not like the writing is top tier or anything, its actually pretty bad lol. So you either have a little kid reaction to it like "cool! lightsabers! space battles! droids!" or it just doesn't appeal, and thats ok.
When that movie came out, I took my college GF to see it. It was a date, everything went well, and I gound myself trapped in a theater full of a boring ass movie, weepy middle-aged aged moms, and my GF for three hours with no way out.
Then the boat started sinking, and the movie began. And in the middle of the brilliant chaos, a dude fell off of the stern and hit the giant propellor. When that "DOOOONG" Rng through the theater, I couldn't help laughing. I got it under control pretty quickly, but before I did, about a hundred angry, teary-eyed, middle-aged moms turned to me like startled prairie dogs with glowing murder in their eyes.
I was later castigated thoroughly for ruining the movie by the GF, and the movie was not made any better overall by that one moment, but it definitely helped to make the whole experience a little better.
Most marvel and dc movies.
I never got the appeal of characters and 'universes' that's being recycles so many times. Like.. they're been exist since before our grandparents. If that's not milking, what's that ?
That's a good plan, with the exception of Spiderman and guardians 3 they have all been pretty mediocre to bad. I just watched them in streaming when there is nothing better to do and even then i don't really recommend it 😂
I watched the first Andrew Garfield one. It was one of the most forgettable movies I've ever seen. I remember enjoying it well enough while I was watching it, but the next day I couldn't have told you a single thing about the plot.
It was pretty good, defied expectation.
The movie worked because it's a subversion of expectation, it's made of meta humor and commentary. You don't need to have been a girl who enjoyed barbie dolls in the 90s to enjoy this movie, that's for sure.
First comment in this thread where I an honestly say you are missing out.
Titanic, Avatar, Marvel, Harry Potter, Star Wars or whatever else really don't matter if you see them or not.
But those two you mentioned are legit good movies.
The notebook.
Because of valentines day this movie was named on an entertainment show here (netherlands) last night as the most popular romantic movie of all time.
GF and me both.
I watched all of them, but I just love it when someone makes a reference to one of the movies, I don't get it, because I watched them only once and they're not exactly remarkable to me, and I get accused of never having watched them
This boy ain’t got the mental fortitude for 14 hours of the greatest trilogy ever made. Just imagine it - 18 hours of cool swordsmen and cooler wizards. You could have this for yourself. All 25 hours of beautifully acted and arranged content. It’ll be the best 37 hours of your life
Yeah this is probably one of the best crime thrillers ever made. The sequels are good. But the first one is awesome. If you like crime dramas your missing out.
Everything Everywhere All at Once
I should say I watched about a third of it, but that's when the wife and I stopped. We just couldn't get into it. I get that not every movie is for everyone, but this one surprised us based on the fact that it won so many awards and word of mouth. We were bored with it.
Many Marvel Movies.
My wife doesn't like superhero movies and i'll be honest, the abundance of CGI turns me off, so because of that I find myself avoiding the movies alot. When my song gets older, I'll probably do a full run through of all the movies with him, so execited about that.
Until last night The Big Lebowski Was stressed and my husband decided I needed a lesson in not caring from The Dude.
"This aggression will not stand, man"
What in god’s holy name are you blathering about?
This is pointless. Time for Plan B.
That's just, like, your opinion, man!
Dude abides
Did it help?
I’ve never seen it straight through and it’s one of my favorite movies. Took me forever to see whole thing and one of the last parts I saw was the varmit.
I've tried to watch that movie like 5 times and fall asleep every time
Oh my God….i thought it was just me.
I was forced to watch it in college twice. I just didn't get it. It didn't do anything for me but everyone else seemed to think it was hilarious.
My younger brother in LA didn’t think it was funny. He said it was just like watching all of his neighbors.
That's just like your opinion man
I’m so glad someone commented this. I watched it in film school and fell asleep twice. Never finished. My whole class shunned me. I just don’t get it.
The Dude abides, and stress takes a back seat. Life lessons with The Big Lebowski – my kind of therapy! What's your favorite quote from the laid-back master himself?
Probably my favorite movie of all time. It's perfect. Hope you enjoyed it!
Well, that’s just like, your opinion, man.
It's like someone took a great philosophical crime thriller and squeezed a stoner comedy inside it.

None of the expendibles
The Godfather
Saw this for the first time last month finally. It was so good!
It insists upon itself.
Wha...but /u/Hour_Insurance_7795 it's a perfect movie
ROBERT DUVALL!!!
Fine, fine actor. Could not get into the movie.
It has a valid point to make! It's insistsnt!!!
Saw the first and not the second
Second is better imo
I finally made it through the first two. Probably not going to do the third.
there is no third. that's a myth. just 1 and 2.
People have a weird fascination with the mob.
You read up on them and the Sicilian Mafia in the 80s really wasn’t much different than the Mexican Cartels today.
I can't understand a word that guys says
not one of the fast and furious movies.. have no plans either
You have no concept of... FAMILY

This is *BRAZIL*
Honestly, if you didn't catch the first 2 at original release, there isn't any point now.
I disagree. They are stupid, but fun. Also, FF3, Tokyo’s Drift is really fun even though it’s not really part of the series.
tokyo drift is my favorite, the car building, the drift training, the insider look into japanese culture, 10X more interesting than the rest
Also the cameo of the real life “Drift King” playing the part of grizzled dock worker, shaking his head in disappointment as he watches the kid practice his drifting.
Mean girls
I just saw the original last week. It wasn't bad.
I always say I’m gonna watch it but never do lol
You should, it’s so fun and the cast is spectacular
What?! That movie is so fetch! You've gotta watch it.
Stop trying to make fetch a thing
Watch the original one from early 2000s if you ever decide to watch it. it’s a huge timestamp
That’s the one I’m talking about.
Raging Bull, Casablanca, Citizen Kane and Gone With the Wind.
Casablanca is amazing, I love that movie. Citizen Kane, I would only recommend if you love film history. In my opinion, it's a very good movie, but at this point it's mostly cool bc you're seeing the things it did that influenced later movies

I haven’t seen GWTW, but the other three are great.
Gwtw is a good movie. I saw it multiple times growing up.
Citizen Kane is still on my list to watch
Raging Bull is on my list to watch one day.
I got to watch Casablanca on the big screen recently. It was amazing. I had seen it several times on TVs , but it was completely mesmerizing in the theater. I kept dreading it being over.
Citizen Kane is on Max and I keep almost watching it because I feel like I'm supposed to but I'm never in the right head space.

The Hunger Games

You could only get a slower boil by holding a cigarette lighter under a swimming pool
LOL!!! This is kinda on my short list but I haven't seen it yet... Thanks for the warning stranger
Perfectly explained. I thought it was painful.
I tried twice. Fell asleep both times. I usually love long, historical movies, and I *wanted* to love Oppie, but it just didn't grab me.
Good but grossly overrated.
The breakfast club
I would have answered the same but apparantly I´ve seen it (acording to my friends) when I was drunk.
I watched it 5 or so years ago. You should watch it, especially if you grew up in the 90s. It's INSANE how many cartoons and shows parodied scenes from the movie. It felt like I had seen the movie already because I recognized most of the bits.
Not Another Teen Movie did a great parody of this
Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, and 16 Candles are all so good.
I loved this, but because I watched it in high school in the ‘80s when it came out and I’m the same age as the cast (or at least Molly Ringwald). I finally watched the whole thing a couple of years ago. Will never be a fan, but I probably would be if I grew up with them. Like with Harry Potter
Citizen Kane
I've never seen a twilight movie.
Top gun maverick
It’s a fun action movie. It isn’t like it was the best movie of all time, but it’s a good “watch popcorn and kill a couple hours” kind of movie.
To be fair that one has only been out for a few.... \*checks calendar\* oh fuck has it already been almost two years??
Star wars
at this point, the joy i get from telling ppl ive never seen star wars is far greater than the joy id get from actually watching it. lol
I used to be the “wtf you’ve never seen Star Wars?!?!” reaction until i grew up and realized it’s just a movie and not everyone is interested in those kinds of movies

Most marvel and dc movies. I never got the appeal of characters and 'universes' that's being recycles so many times. Like.. they're been exist since before our grandparents. If that's not milking, what's that ?
I watched a couple early on and decided they are the fast food equivalent of the movie industry.
Sometimes it's in-and-out, sometimes it's that dirty Arby's by the airport.
I got burnt out after the second Avengers movie.
Same here. I got burned out on all the superheroes. The few I’ve seen seem to be nothing but special effects.
Didn’t watch any past endgame and don’t plan to
That's a good plan, with the exception of Spiderman and guardians 3 they have all been pretty mediocre to bad. I just watched them in streaming when there is nothing better to do and even then i don't really recommend it 😂
It's literally the same shit in a different cape
I’ve seen most of them despite not being very interested. I guess I kept buying into the hype hoping the next one would actually be good.
Avatar. All of them
The star wars saga.
Schindler's List
ALL of the Harry Potter movies
Not must watches but it’s a really fun series
Reading the books is a much better experience imo. The movies are kinda fun as well though.
None of the live action Spiderman films after Toby. I've seen the Spiderverse though

You should, especially if you're interested in movies and the mechanics of story telling. The script is really well done for such a stupid premise.
