Do it!! My own privacy cave space is wonderful!! My wife and I rented an apartment once that had a bigger closet than we ever had and she made a cave space in it lol . I loved she had that to go meditate or read books in !!
I love that!!!
We keep saying that if we could just go and build our house, we'd have a secret room behind the closet. I love secret rooms, which is why I'm excited about the fort right now.
Yeah it's the kind of thing that sounds fun until you try to pick your middle aged back off the floor with those middle aged knees that no longer really like being that low to the ground. We don't stop playing these games because we stopped liking them, we do it because adults have entirely different bodily physics, our center off mass in completely different from a child's. We will HURT ourselves...
I used to love doing that! I’d call them “dens” and pretend I was an animal on a documentary, with my thoughts narrating my movements lol it was always so fun, though!
that's the joy of having kids, getting to do some of those types of things all over again
For me, it's coloring, i used to love coloring and haven't done it since i was a teenager.
might need some adult coloring books
I have a contest with my students each year, and the class that wins gets a party with me the last day before winter break (the teachers love an extra break that day!) A couple of times a 5th or 6th grade class has won, and they chose to bring in blankets, sheets, stuffed animals, etc. and turn the entire library into forts. We had the best time!
We never play night crawlers anymore.
Me and my 3 brothers would do this every weekend. It was so much fun. Now we have our kids do it at my mom and dads.
I had 3 kids by accident and I happily and eagerly build forts with them and it’s fun as fuck. Since I’m helping they’re like 1000xs better than mine as a kid. LED lights and shit. They’re dope asf.
Also, this one time I was tripping on shrooms and I made an incredible fort that encased my tv and entire living room. Set up shop with my peak pro and hash and watch and entire UFC PPV card without moving from that spot.
Climb trees. I was pretty much constantly in a tree as a kid. I don’t have the coordination or the strength to hoist myself up anymore and I’m kinda sad about it.
Have you seen some of these new Lego sets though? I got some for my nephew, helped him build it, and I felt as accomplished as if I had built an extension on my own house
I think the issue here is most Legos sre sers now. U build say idk the Ghostbusters car u don't wanna smash to rebuild. Thats the great part of the sets that are just legs classic.
I love to read and still read every night before bed, but sometimes I’m so tired I can barely get a page done. I used to read like 2-3 books a week as a kid.
Get a kindle if you don’t already, one of the ones that used e-ink instead of an electronic screen. You can read in bed and the light won’t disrupt your sleep (the blue light from phones and tablets can throw off your sleep cycle.) If you read 10 minutes a night while in bed you’ll get through a book a month. When I finish a book I make an immediate point of starting the next one so that I’ll immediately be invested in picking the kindle up again the next night instead of putting it off. You can also read through the kindle app on your phone and it will sync up with whatever page you were on. If you’re waiting for a waiter during lunch or standing in line or whatever just make it a habit to read a couple more pages instead of aimlessly searching the web or going on reddit.
Near Syracuse, NY. Wegmans often seems like an (unofficial) karaoke place….most people who sing are singing quietly but there’s often someone singing as they shop.
I used to sing to myself at work (its a loud factory nobody could hear) but people thought I was talking to myself and was clearly crazy and scary so HR told me to stop. Only misery allowed at work.
Only person who can ruin my life is me. I've been singing for 16 years. If anything, a recording of me would only help. Plus I'm not singing when I'm around people, I'm singing for me. You sound too scared and paranoid to be out in public. Me, I don't give a fuck.
Eating those frosted cookies from Walmart with the sprinkles ( you know the one you sexy reader you 😎 ). Tried them as an adult and they were too sugary for me but I loved them as a kid
Lick the bowl of cookie or cake batter. When I was a kid everyone ate the leftovers scrapings on the bottom of the bowl, but now days everyone screams you can't eat raw cookie or cake batter.
Iunno man. These days you can't go 3 whole days without another rash of foodborn deaths. I have a feeling safety standards have slipped significantly since the later half of the 20th century...
Fucking cantelope just killed a bunch of people. Our food is NOT being handled appropriately anymore.
Talking to yourself is an EXCELLENT way to organize thoughts. There's also something to be said for formatting information in a more conversational way, and hearing yourself have those conversations out loud does wonders for that.
Laughing. I used to laugh so much - I could easily set off laughing fits and not stop them. Everyone around me couldn't help but join in.
Life sucked it all outta me I guess. Haven't laughed hard in so many years.
It's even funnier when someone doesn't get it right away!!! It's my favorite joke! (aside from, "what does a snail say when it rides on a turtle's back?")
Play outside literally all day. I hated being in the house as a kid. I would go outside at like 10-11am and be outside until the street lights came on
Now, it can be like pulling teeth, just to get me outta the house lol
It's literally never anyone you want to see anymore. It's ALWAYS someone with their fucking filthy paw out, wanting your money. We've allowed society to become nothing but a scam.
Play outside all day in my own little fantasy world. I lived out in the middle of nowhere, and spent a lot of time roaming the woods and swamps near my house with just my dog.
When we got out in the woods, we could be a princess and a unicorn, ourselves, or anything else I dreamt up.
Just playing in general. Having a friend over and putting on fake armor pretending we’re knights or putting on army helmets and pretending we’re soldiers in WWII. There was nothing else like it
Digging. I used to dig so much, man. I found so many cool rocks and flower bulbs and one time a ring and some arrow heads that were actually culturally significant. Also lots of worms.
I should go dig.
Exploring anywhere that looked wild and overgrown.
The amount of places we would go as a kid was wild, all the shortcuts and abandoned little places you would find.
I found access to what was probably a basement of a long gone building, just happened to explore an overgrown area, find a crack in the ground, looked over the wall and down next to the river, explored down there and in what was rubble and old tarmac there was a gap, we dug it out for days and the gap went into a large underground closed off space.
It's probably still there as the river is so badly gunked up and nasty at that part i doubt anyone knows about it.
I loved exploring.
Cuddling with my Mom.
I was a total mommy’s girl growing up. Basically attached to her hip. We were poor so we were basically always together. From the religious school I went to, she worked in the daycare. Or that we only had 1 bed in a tiny apartment. So I always fell asleep in her arms.
It stopped when she got a boyfriend. And I get it. Maybe your 14 year old daughter shouldnt be co sleeping every night. But the sudden stop really sucked. She always made me feel warm and safe. Would rub my back if I had a bad day. I still miss it
I’m honestly trying to think of something and I really can’t. I play with my niece: pretend, stuffed animals, bounce houses, sprinklers, coloring, I still love reading. I play on the playground (I’m trying to get a swing set big enough for grown ups, like the big swings at the park, in my backyard). Roller skating. I still basically play with makeup every day. I’m pretty much still a kid at heart.
I read the same thing. Sad thing is my childhood best friend and I used the eat finger-fulls of this super soft pumpkin scented candle my mom had. How embarrassing
Hiking. We grew up in a very rural place with some woods. We were often walking around through the woods with our cousins who lived next door. I would need to lose weight if I am ever to get back into hiking.
Laying in the back of my dad's old pickup truck seemingly alone in the universe watching the clouds come and go and making out the shapes and mythical creatures that would form and quickly disappear. It's almost like a haiku good for me
Climbing, getting dirty, and building little forts outside or what we would call base in many different places. Simply playing with friends without a care in the world
Video games and it makes me sad. I grew up with Atari, NES, SNES N64 etc.
I have a Switch and PS4 and just can’t get into it no matter me trying over and over and over.
I hate games where I have to build characters or vehicle etc. I love side scrollers.
And it frustrates me. I don’t have the time to put into games these days as I’m a parent with a busy schedule.
I just want to jump into a game for 30 minutes.
Swinging on swings.
I did it occasionally through high school, with friends. Really fun.
Got a chance again at 26 and got motion-sick!!!!!
Now I’m too big and it hurts to sit on a rubber swing. Might try if I see a board swing, though.
Spend most of the day with your parents. Previously, spending time with my parents was something special for me, but now I would rather be alone than communicate with my parents.
I pretty much do most things I loved as a child haha. 30 years old and just downloaded Sims 4 for me and my husband to play. Dance, craft, be silly. You’re never too old x
Building forts out of blankets and furniture, creating a little world of my own.
I'm 50 and I would do that now if given even an ounce of encouragement.
You should totally do it hellhound28! It'll probably be frickin fun as heck and stuff!
I think I will tonight! I'll make an event of it!
Make sure you have batteries for your flashlight.
Of course!
make your medieval ancestors proud with this one.
And snacks, can't forget the snacks !
We did it when we had a blizzard and power outage. It was quite the night of fun. Two adults, two cats, a ton of blankets and a bottle of asti. FUN!!!
It will most assuredly be heck.
consider yourself triple dog dared.
I don't need to be triple dog dared, but it's happening. I'm inspired.
Thrrreeee Dooooggg! That’s me, kids. Comin’ to you taped from my fortified bunker in the middle of the D.C. hellhole. Ain’t life grand?
Well, come on over and let’s play! I miss those days, too (I’m 67).
Play date!
WOO HOO!
Listen to Nike!!
Just do it! Later tonight, though. It's no fun without flashlights!
Yes! Go make that fort!!
You should do it!!!
Do it! Do it! Do it! Then watch some old favorite cartoons from said fort and eat junk food!
Our kids have reached the blanket fort age. So much fun
Aww man. I still do this with my kids. If the Community guys can do it, you can too!! Don't let anyone stop ya
Making a tent with blankets and a clothesline and camping out all night.
My wife and I have made forts many times in our relationship. We like to make a whole night of it by also making a movie night out of it with snacks.
I have children and we sometimes do these things together now.
Did you do the fan blowing the bedsheet? 😊
The things you forget about as an adult!
I did this all the time. I read the entire Harry Potter series... 5 books at the time, in my couch fort.
We never play night crawlers anymore. Me and my 3 brothers would do this every weekend. It was so much fun. Now we have our kids do it at my mom and dads.
I do that with my grandson!
Climb trees. I was pretty much constantly in a tree as a kid. I don’t have the coordination or the strength to hoist myself up anymore and I’m kinda sad about it.
Seems like not too many kids climb trees these days.
Me too. Could get away and hide in the woods.
Ahhh… the woods was my getaway
I definitely was known to climb an oak with my Calculus book in college. People were surprised….. definitely was more socially acceptable to “hammock”
build lego sets and then destroy them
I liked desteoying this guys Lego sets too
you're too weak to destroy my fortresses.
Reading. I used to read a lot when I was younger however now I can barely bring myself to read a few pages as much as I want to.
I love to read and still read every night before bed, but sometimes I’m so tired I can barely get a page done. I used to read like 2-3 books a week as a kid.
Read articles. This is what I do. I can’t attend to full books, but I crave info, so I read 2-3 hours per day. Have you tried audible?
Get a kindle if you don’t already, one of the ones that used e-ink instead of an electronic screen. You can read in bed and the light won’t disrupt your sleep (the blue light from phones and tablets can throw off your sleep cycle.) I don't have the energy to read for pleasure anymore. I'll do a degree of reading for improvement. But I miss books for pleasure.
Playing football in the streets Being uncontactable Watching decent cartoons on the tv Licking the bowl clean after mum had beenbeen baking
Watching decent cartoons is a real one. The only good thing that has come from new cartoons is Bluey
I love Bluey!
i read *being uncontrollable*

I still love to (softly) sing along to the music in the supermarket, it makes doing grocery shopping better
Aw I do this sometimes too, glad I’m not the only one
Sometimes our grocery store is like going to Karaoke. A lot of people sing or at least hum along....including me.
That’s so cool!! I wanna live around people like that! May I ask whereabouts you’re located?
Near Syracuse, NY. Wegmans often seems like an (unofficial) karaoke place….most people who sing are singing quietly but there’s often someone singing as they shop.
Beautiful. I’d love to visit NY one day 😊 Thanks for your reply, have a great day! 🫶
Same, except I keep forgetting I’m not as quiet as I think I am. I love hearing other people do it!
I used to sing to myself at work (its a loud factory nobody could hear) but people thought I was talking to myself and was clearly crazy and scary so HR told me to stop. Only misery allowed at work.
I've been singing for 16 years. Not ONCE have I been recorded.

Why exactly would your life be ruined because you were caught in public singing and it went viral?
Bullies, if you care about what other people say/comment then your self esteem could be ruined very bad
Only person who can ruin my life is me. I've been singing for 16 years. If anything, a recording of me would only help. Plus I'm not singing when I'm around people, I'm singing for me. You sound too scared and paranoid to be out in public. Me, I don't give a fuck.

Imagining monstrous cantelopes with sharp teeth and blood lust now lmao
That's what happens when shit gets deregulated
No disagreement here.
Sorry, I’m a bit uninformed in this area. Do you mind explaining that a bit more?
Talking to imaginary friends. Now I just call them 'thoughts' and pretend to have deep conversations with myself.
Talking to yourself is an EXCELLENT way to organize thoughts. There's also something to be said for formatting information in a more conversational way, and hearing yourself have those conversations out loud does wonders for that.
Try to reconnect with those friends
Laughing. I used to laugh so much - I could easily set off laughing fits and not stop them. Everyone around me couldn't help but join in. Life sucked it all outta me I guess. Haven't laughed hard in so many years.
What's the dumbest animal in the rain forest?
What?
Polar Bear.
I don't know why, but that joke makes me laugh uncontrollably *every* time I tell it, and I know it isn't *that* funny!!!
Hahahaa! Thank you. That's hysterical. And yes, probably funnier because it's not that funny!
It's even funnier when someone doesn't get it right away!!! It's my favorite joke! (aside from, "what does a snail say when it rides on a turtle's back?")
Wheeeee! Both excellent Dad jokes.
Same.
I still laugh or rather guffaw….. and people stare.
