Random thought but something I found recently. Since the days of the caveman out brains haven't really evolved much. We have learned so much as a society but that's due to how efficiently we teach ourselves to learn. If we got this far with the same brain I am excited for our future.
Ditto. Tried to take German in high school and struggled hard with it. I would always try to speak German with English sentence structure and got in trouble with it.
I came here to say this. I like to read a lot and I always wonder how much I’m actually missing out on with respect to the author’s original message when reading a translation. Translators take a lot of liberties when it comes to translation.
Example: the second volume of Marcel Proust’s master work, in search of lost time, it’s called “within a budding grove” or the much creepier sounding version “in the shadow of young girls in flower”. How the fuck do they come up with those from the same titled French work?!
I think this will be possible for everyone very soon via smartphones. Instant voice recognition-translation already seems to be a thing. It’s pretty exciting.
I didn't say I wanted a career in it. I just wanna know wtf I'm looking at when I'm trying to build websites using notepad instead of taking 19 straight hours to teach myself how to understand HTML coding by inspecting the elements of other sites and shit like that. I want to be able to type up my sites coding, and come back to it a day or two later and realize what I left out or added that's stopping something stupid from working properly.
It sucks. Being eidetic is a bigger burden than most people understand. You end up losing trust for people really fast when you start to realize how many people lie constantly. It's great for learning, but awful for relationships with literally anyone.
I definitely wouldn’t say I have an eidetic memory but I have a really good memory for conversations. The number of times people flip sides, repeat stories but tell it in a different way, make verbal promises but then forget, is crazy. And I can’t say “ but you said ‘this’ before..” because that annoys them. You are so right in that it turns into losing trust in people because it’s hard to really get to know them. I have also had people say things like “ well you remembered wrong.” No.. I don’t think that’s it.
I can recall what people were wearing the first time I ever met them. It sucks. Sometimes I really wish I could forget certain things, but...yeah. The worst is when you lose the people you actually do trust and care about.
Yeah struggling with this right now. My partner has terrible memory and she makes many inconsistent statements that make me angry but I gotta realize its just part of her humanity and let it go
I have a pretty great memory, and I do like it a lot. At the same time, it operates like anxiety at times. You will remember a lot of minor mistakes in your life, cringey things, and general bad things that will just never go away. So it would be nicer to forget that kind of thing, on the upside I like being able to see something once and instantly pick it up.
Yup. Of all the sports, I’d want to be professional-level good at golf. Between endorsements, the beautiful “offices” you work at around the world, and the complete lack of big guys trying to destroy me, golf is the best.
Baseball is solid, too.
Sewing. And I don't mean conventional, "Oh, let me re-sew this button on." I mean, "I've been working in this Parisian Fashion House for fifty years. People fly me to the world all over just to make clothes from them." That style of sewing.
I would love to be able to make amazing clothes out of the best fabrics of the world. Screw this fast fashion, everyone looking like they are just in their threadbare pajamas style. I am making clothes that people will be fighting over for decades.
I want to make you look fabulous.
I love how you mock a comment that's been reposted a billion times mocking a question thats been reposted a billion times by reposting a comment thats been used a billion times
I used to think like that but now I don't care. I'd rather a community be active and engaged than what some subreddits do where they just show you to the nearest FAQ and kill the conversation.
Well, [you might be in luck!](https://www.amazon.com/How-Pick-Up-Chicks-Beginners-ebook/dp/B016CIBE9O?ref=d6k_applink_bb_dls&dplnkId=be2ed7a2-2d32-4dbd-b471-6b486f592067) /s 😆
Just go really, really slow with a wide tongue and don’t put all your focus on the upstroke. And don’t underestimate the power of foreplay on your way down. Easy peasy.
The best advice I ever got was start off like your licking an ice cream cone and slowly build up until you're like a bulldog going to town on a rawhide bone.
Sounds counterintuitive but it's worked for me.
Classical piano is quite difficult but with consistent practice ( 40 hours a day) you'll get there
I'm grade 9 in less than 2 years and now play at professional level. But I've only performed a few times because I have crippling stage fright XD
Pays decently well though, but make sure you have stage confidence and aren't afraid to perform in front of loads of people as it's no good having a skill you can't use
Also really glad to see someone actually wanting to know classical piano.
Blacksmithing, rocketry machining would be my two choices. the first for fun and I like medieval stuff. The second is your typical I wanna go to space and I wanna be a part of the future.
Yeah mine is staffed by interns. Sometimes they luck into a piece of information and present it as "I think this is what you wanted?" other times they're fucking each other behind the stacks.
There’s a category of note taking apps referred to as second brain apps like obsidian or roam research. If you become a meticulous note taker you can achieve this for yourself with the help of some software
the ability to learn any language
both human language and coding language
(if you stretch it, then perhaps ancient languages and alien languages too?😂)
Controlling animals. Not for some grand things like causing a stampede or flying with many birds. I just want a murder of crows flying in whenever I'm late to any meetings or work and never be ignored by a cat when I pspspspsps them
1. fluency in as many languages as possible
2. sewing
3. drawing
4. writing books (I try but I'm really bad at it XD Also haven't had time for it recently, which doesn't help)
Mathematics.
I am a person that is amazing at analysing human behavior but math is just lost on me. I can not learn it. My brain just dose not want it.
Calculus.
I’m great at most other forms of math. Physics is easy to me, Chemistry is more tricky but not terrible. But Calculus… no matter how much I try in college I just can’t get it to make sense and I had to switch out of the science program because of it.
Full comprehension of mathematics so that I can finally understand AI. I work as a dev and with new Gen AI popping, I'm wondering how long I will keep my job.
I'm thinking also about a career change to be a trucker lol
The skill of learning. If I was a master at learning new things, I could EASILY learn how to speak and write multiple languages, sing songs, play instruments, sports, parlor tricks, literally anything. That is a CHEAT skill. Not to mention the more practical applications like coding and stock trading and stuff like mathematics and science. I fantasize about this often.
Speaking, writing and understanding multiple languages.
The monkey's paw curls, you can speak write and understand necril, abyssal and french.
Same languages
Je ne dis pas le contraire...!
Same for me!
Como estas!?
Soy bueno gracias Edit: Google translate fail, according to cleverer people in the replies! My apologies.
/r/languagelearning is leaking
Soy bueno means that you are a morally good person
Thank you for the soy beans! See, I can do speak multiple language too!
Lol
No thank you, I'm vegetarian.
Donda esta la bibliotheca?
I'd love to be a polygot the YT videos of people who have that skill are amazing
This! Or just being able to focus. Is that a skill?
Master the skill of learning. Multiple applications
Random thought but something I found recently. Since the days of the caveman out brains haven't really evolved much. We have learned so much as a society but that's due to how efficiently we teach ourselves to learn. If we got this far with the same brain I am excited for our future.
Including programming languages
That’s beyond my scope of understanding, but if I could magically understand computers in any capacity, absolutely!
Opino lo mismo.
I was going to say guitar but this is the best
That’s my default answer to this question too.
Translation is a pretty good one
Why? I can speak at least three and I'm forgetting two because I live in England and have no one to speak to on the daily.
For me, I can name the specific one - Korean
Ditto. Tried to take German in high school and struggled hard with it. I would always try to speak German with English sentence structure and got in trouble with it.
YES YES YESSSSSS
Farting the song jingle bells and other Christmas songs. I'd be a hit during the holidays.
The monkeys paw curls one finger. You are Jewish and live where Christmas is not celebrated.
Would you still pick it if it was just one extra language?
Yes….Spanish, Russian, and Mandarin Chinese…matrix it into my brain, Link!
**This one right here**
Same
I came here to post this. I’m absolutely terrible at learning languages and I wish it was something I could just learn instantly
I watch TV shows in several languages. It does help, but not enough to initiate a conversation with anyone.
That was gonna be my answer!!
I was about to say, being able to communicate in any language!
It's ain't easy tbh
This is *exactly* what I was coming in to say
I came here to say this. I like to read a lot and I always wonder how much I’m actually missing out on with respect to the author’s original message when reading a translation. Translators take a lot of liberties when it comes to translation. Example: the second volume of Marcel Proust’s master work, in search of lost time, it’s called “within a budding grove” or the much creepier sounding version “in the shadow of young girls in flower”. How the fuck do they come up with those from the same titled French work?!
I'll take mastering my own language first, thank you.
I think this will be possible for everyone very soon via smartphones. Instant voice recognition-translation already seems to be a thing. It’s pretty exciting.
Same, no more headaches just being able to talk to anyone without any form of language barrier would be awesome!
Full comprehension of algorithms and all web coding.
Good answer!
Full comprehension of almost anything would probably be a good answer, I just went with the thing that baffles me the most currently.
What happens when there is a world wide black out for years?
I didn't say I wanted a career in it. I just wanna know wtf I'm looking at when I'm trying to build websites using notepad instead of taking 19 straight hours to teach myself how to understand HTML coding by inspecting the elements of other sites and shit like that. I want to be able to type up my sites coding, and come back to it a day or two later and realize what I left out or added that's stopping something stupid from working properly.
abbacus are turing complete. computer used to be an occupation, remember.
You won't need web coding in a blackout.
Memorization and recall
It sucks. Being eidetic is a bigger burden than most people understand. You end up losing trust for people really fast when you start to realize how many people lie constantly. It's great for learning, but awful for relationships with literally anyone.
Unless you are already cynical about and disenchanted with people. Then it'd be great.
I have no hope for the human condition, I just want to remember whatever the fuck it was I just said I can't forget two minutes ago
Look up the LOCI memory technique, your username already sort of checks out for it
thank you
I definitely wouldn’t say I have an eidetic memory but I have a really good memory for conversations. The number of times people flip sides, repeat stories but tell it in a different way, make verbal promises but then forget, is crazy. I can recall what people were wearing the first time I ever met them. It sucks. Sometimes I really wish I could forget certain things, but...yeah. The worst is when you lose the people you actually do trust and care about.
But ultimately it’s an awesome filter, you can find really good friends because it’s easier to see who is real
Yeah struggling with this right now. My partner has terrible memory and she makes many inconsistent statements that make me angry but I gotta realize its just part of her humanity and let it go
Lying is not the same thing as misremembering.
Total recall? All you need to do is "free your mind"
Trust me it sucks.
Having a really good memory sucks. Especially when it comes to embarrassment.
Mastering skills easily
Check and mate amigo
More wishes!
Legit though, learning is a skill.
Omg no way Bal Pet from Hit game Hypixel Skyblock??
Golf, that shit pays.
Yup. Of all the sports, I’d want to be professional-level good at golf. Between endorsements, the beautiful “offices” you work at around the world, and the complete lack of big guys trying to destroy me, golf is the best. Baseball is solid, too.
baseball pays well but its too damn long, if you get a nice contract and play on the LIV tour you will have so much more freedom.
Fluency in every language
Including language of love-making
Brown chicken, brown cow
Fluency in all coding languages.
If I had money I'd sponsor you. This is passion you can't buy.
Go for it! That's amazing
What’s stopping you? Go for it.

Sex!
You already have the skill to scroll past them, but I suppose you haven't quite mastered it yet.
I used to think like that but now I don't care. I'd rather a community be active and engaged than what some subreddits do where they just show you to the nearest FAQ and kill the conversation.
If you win one billion in the lottery and could tell your past self three words what would Jesus do
Have I (23M) ruined my life?
good luck and let me know when you find out

This is the best one by far. It can be used for practically everything.
Playing guitar
Martial arts
Manipulating the stock market to make other people lose money. I don’t care about making money I just want other people to lose it.
Weird cause I said how to read the stock market... are you my arch nemesis?!
I.... I think he's the upgrade
Hey! Go over to r/wallstreetbets. You don't need to do anything; they lose money all the time.
Going to bed early and waking up refreshed.
This isn't a miracle factory, aim for something like world peace
i cant remember when the last time i woke up and felt i had a good rest. that's including on weekends where i sleep for up to 13h
Soo relatable. I sleep, but my mind stays awake for half the period, it's so frustrating sometimes.
Learn every language and be fluent with it, including programming languages
"including programming languages" Granted but you don't actually know how to use algorithms so your mastery of the syntax is pointless
Cunnilingus
Just go really, really slow with a wide tongue and don’t put all your focus on the upstroke. And don’t underestimate the power of foreplay on your way down. Easy peasy.
Damn! In a nutshell! Yes. Please.
The best advice I ever got was start off like your licking an ice cream cone and slowly build up until you're like a bulldog going to town on a rawhide bone. Sounds counterintuitive but it's worked for me.
look up some Nina Hartley on the web
The ability to understand women.
**Al Bundy:** "Don't try to understand women. Women understand women and they hate each other."
Don't remember that quote. But that's perfect.
Oh the great Al. One of his best.
Based Bundy
Mel Gibson tried this in a famous movie and was struck by lightning twice.
this unlocked a memory
We are just people. That is the key.
I'd just like the ability to understand people then
They're just people dude. You're overthinking it. I say this as someone who wishes I had grokked that sooner.
Santa: So what color unicorn did you want?
Classical piano, to ABRSM grade 8. Damned thing is hard. Becoming a high dan Go player. Damned thing is even harder.
Classical piano is quite difficult but with consistent practice ( 40 hours a day) you'll get there I'm grade 9 in less than 2 years and now play at professional level. But I've only performed a few times because I have crippling stage fright XD Pays decently well though, but make sure you have stage confidence and aren't afraid to perform in front of loads of people as it's no good having a skill you can't use Also really glad to see someone actually wanting to know classical piano.

Reading people, most of the time I don’t understand their thinking, actions, or motives, and I’d like to.
Math.
Same bro. I suck at math😂 I would trade anything for that
Blacksmithing, rocketry machining would be my two choices. the first for fun and I like medieval stuff. The second is your typical I wanna go to space and I wanna be a part of the future.
Horse shoeing is mine and a huge part is part one of yours, and you make bank if you’re a genuine master at it
Master? Probably trading. That's a guarantee for wealth
I scrolled too far to find this.

Woof.....God....dammit! I suck at this.
You haven’t unlocked that area of the skill tree yet

Its reached reddit....
Why..?
I'd like to be able to have mind vault, so I could instantly find any piece of information I'd ever seen or learned and bring it back for use.
ok that would be helpful. YES My mind vault is not very well staffed if it exists, I can't remember anything
Yeah mine is staffed by interns. Sometimes they luck into a piece of information and present it as "I think this is what you wanted?" other times they're fucking each other behind the stacks.
