literally just yesterday, i found a dead cat in the road on my way to work. i pulled over and picked him up in a towel and set him in my barn, he had no collar or microchip but i posted about it on my local lost pets page on facebook. someone that i told irl about it said i was ridiculous and “too soft” for not leaving it in the road. but someone commented on the post “thank you for being so kind to give the kitty the dignity of a final resting place, not just left in the road as road kill. you’re very kind for doing this, i wish there were more people like you” and lemme tell you that comment almost made me tear up lol. no one claimed the kitty, it was a very skinny intact male so likely a stray, so i buried him. i would just hope if something happened to one of my kitties someone would treat them with the same care
As someone who has to pull over to the side of the road because I cry when I see an animal that's been hit I want to say thank you for your kindness. You have a good heart. Don't let others spoil it because they don't. 🫂
I work at a hospital and I was talking with an 86 year old woman whose heart was starting to give out and she also has a stroke years prior. One day she told me my smile made her heart happy and that she looked forward to seeing me everyday. I think about that all the time
Sparks a memory. The last time I spoke to my 98yo grandmother (I didn’t know at the time), I said “I love you grandmother” and she looked me square in my face and pointed at me with every syllable “Honey, love you too.” Unforgettable.
Was working the front desk at a doctors office and a special needs patient looked at me and just called me pretty.
For context, at the time I was an overweight 20 something guy. I think that was the first time I'd ever had a compliment on my appearance, and for it to come from someone who realistically had no filter was kind of nice.
We were on a cruise. At one of our dinners, we were seated with 4 other women. Great conversation. Near the end, one of the women, a former army officer, looked at me and said “you have a very honest face”.
A little girl on the bus got her mum to tell me I was so beautiful I looked like a princess from a Disney movie 😭😭😭 she thought I wasn’t real because I was “glowing” (sun was hitting me good 😂😂).

One girl, in my class, who is very beautiful and kind, told me that night that she really admires what I do, thinks of me as a proper journalist, was happy that I'd made friends with her since we met, and also thought I looked sharp that night, all in a row. As recently diagnosed autistic guy, who had a lot of mental struggles earlier that yr, those compliments felt great: what's more, is she has a longterm boyfriend so it felt great in a purely platonic way too, that a girl that beautiful, kind and cool felt comfortable enough around me to say that.

We were just chatting and he said, “Whoever these are for is such a lucky person. You just light up the room.” I had been going to the store for years. I know he wasn’t flirting because he talks about his husband very often. It was so kind.
Had to give myself an enema prior to a colonoscopy. During the procedure the doctor asked if I did the enema myself. I said yes. She said it was one of the best she had ever seen.
I was at a company for 10+ years. One day a guy I worked with got fired for being very inappropriate with many women.
I was asking one of my female colleagues about it and she was telling me some of the really inappropriate “jokes” he used to say (not what got him fired). My response was “oh I’ll be careful with my jokes”.

Last December, I was at a big Christmas party with a bunch of journalism students like myself, several of whom were in my class. I was moderately drunk as was everyone else and having an amazing time. One girl, in my class, who is very beautiful and kind, told me that night that she really admires what I do, thinks of me as a proper journalist, was happy that I'd made friends with her since we met, and also thought I looked sharp that night, all in a row. As recently diagnosed autistic guy, who had a lot of mental struggles earlier that yr, those compliments felt great: what's more, is she has a longterm boyfriend so it felt great in a purely platonic way too, that a girl that beautiful, kind and cool felt comfortable enough around me to say that.

The funny part, I had been limping for like 2 weeks because my foot had been killing me (gout or something). Just found it hilarious, the only compliment I have ever gotten on my feet was while I wanted to sever one of them off.

I'm a 20 y/o man. In high school a girl that I was somewhat flirty with but was mostly a friend told me I was "beautiful" and as far as I could tell, she genuinely meant it. Rarely do I have conversations like this but when asked what the best compliment I've ever received was, that's my answer.

I still use that in interviews when they ask me "what makes you stand out from everyone else?" lol and one time my sister and I were in the same room and I suddenly said "you know, not enough people like and approve of me" and she went "I do" like she was slightly surprised it was even a thing.

After I got off a bus, a vaguely familiar woman behind me got my attention and said, "We don't know each other, but whenever you see me, you smile at me. My now husband made several mixed songs and posted them to his YouTube channel. He also added images of me to the cover (the songs were remixes of the Fugees and absolutely bada**). He also mixes music by Freddie Dredd, Suicide guys, Etc and had a bunch of hidden messages for me embedded. This was all done while we were on a short hiatus. When he sent them over I immediately knew he loved me and cried out of joy. Supes corny but I loved it more than pretty much anything I’d ever gotten before.

A co-worker was annoyed with another co-worker and was talking a little smack about her. When I theorized that she may have a reasonable explanation for what she did, she looked at me with a big, beautiful smile and said "Thats what I like about you, you always give people the benefit of the doubt." It made me feel good, because I would have never thought that anyone would think that about me. I thought of myself as a cynical person, but one who tried to figure out people's reasons for doing things.

I used to smoke cigarettes but quit 25 yrs ago. A beautiful coworker who I looked up to told me that seeing me smoke was like a "scratch on Rembrandt". That has always stuck with me, and I value the sentiment to this day. It reminds me of my beautiful friend. I'm no Rembrandt, but the compliment has stayed with me.
I am 72. Last summer I dressed up in a beautiful halter dress and went out to dinner with my husband, daughter and son-in-law. We stopped at a bar afterward. The place was packed so I stood at the bar with my drink. A young woman standing next to me told me, "I love your dress." I thanked her and told her where I bought it. Later, as she was leaving, she turned to me and told me, "You are gorgeous!" It made my day.
I was returning something at a store when I was a teenager and they asked me to sign and date the receipt or whatever and the woman said I had really nice handwriting. 15 years later, I still remember it.

I was outside talking to some friends, then 2 kids approached me. I thought I have some dirt at my back or they'll ask for money hahaha. Then the little kid said "You are so beautiful." I smiled and replied "Thank you." That's flattering because I was appreciated. During that time, I was loosing confidence because I am gaining some weight and felt like I was too ugly. I kind of felt validated. Like it was a sign that I am just thinking negatively about myself and that I should appreciate myself more.
