It's not weird at all, how else are you going to find dresses in your size?
I'm sorry, I had to. I think it's great, you can create some beautiful things and meet some cool people with that hobby.
Me too! I taught myself how to play completely on my own. My dad did the same when he was younger. He doesn’t know any of the actual notes once a finger is pressing down on a string in a certain fret, I learned that so now I can tech him. But I’m off and on playing :( so I haven’t made much progress
That’s awesome you teach your dad, even if you’re off and on it’s all about enjoying the process and the progress you’ve made!🔥 And I’m a big fan here!😅
It was actually easier than I thought. Did a lot of research and gave intermittent fasting a shot. I pretty much gave myself an 8 hour eating window while staying in a calorie deficit then drank only water for 16 hours. I’d workout as soon as I woke up by doing basic stuff like push ups and squats and 20 lb dumbbell lifts. I’d rest for about an hour then have a protein shake then do some running before I had my first meal. My body only needed 2000 calories to maintain my covid weight , so I’d eat around only 1300-1600 calories a day, sometimes less.
Golf. It’s a great hobby, gets you outside/social, maybe a little competitive, and is great for your [mental health](https://birdiebirdiebogey.com/2024/06/26/golf-tip-mental-health/).
Nah. Maybe that's a fear in some places, not where I live though... besides, my dogs bark at anyone/anything that gets within a 20 foot radius of my house.
Mostly 1000, can easily finish one over the course of a week giving it a bit of time here and there. I’ve done one 2000 and have some 3000 piece in my stash but haven’t gotten up the nerve to tackle one yet.
A lot of stuff as I also quit drinking and used hobbies/self improvement to fill the free time rather than do aa as I felt obsessing over alchohol was counter productive to quitting.
Picked up violin, camping and hiking, as well as learning more versatility in the kitchen with cooking/baking and ice cream/sorbet making. I’ve conquered cheesecakes, tarts, breads, and am venturing into making my own pastas.
Fantastic! Kudos to you for making that effort! During my college days, I worked on a sign language project aimed at breaking the communication barriers faced by the deaf and mute community.
Houseplants. Now my apartment is slowly becoming a jungle, And I'm okay with it. I've learned that I love learning about each plant, how to care for it, and how to make it thrive. I feel a real sense of validation whenever I see new growth. Bonus for better air quality.
My crown jewel is a grapefruit seed that I planted in a K-cup during lockdowns. The thing is now about 5 feet tall. It hasn't given me fruit yet (and may never will) but it's a gorgeous tree sitting on my balcony now (and will come inside in the winter). I still plant citrus seeds to give it more friends.
Your apartment must look amazing with all those plants, it’s very refreshing, bring nature indoors, you get the fresh air, and definitely it will be beautiful sight to see. Keep adding more plant friends. I’d love to see your plants if you can show!☘️🍃🔥
Unfortunately for my wallet, Warhammer 40,000.
I saw some friends playing in the lobby of my barracks, and was fascinated. I've never been very good at strategy or tabletop games, but the models looked amazing.
One of them brought me to a local hobby shop that carried 40k models, and I immediately chose the worst possible one only because of the aesthetics (T'au gang, represent!).
Since then I've amassed three armies, T'au Empire, Blood Angels, and Orks. Orks by far are my favorite, because I can mess up a little and have it be part of the charm of my junkyard gits.
I don't get to play much but painting is very rewarding when done.
I occasionally (before and after COVID) have to wear a mask at work.
It's honestly more comfortable to leave it on in situations where I don't need it than to constantly be raising and lowering it. Also decreases materials from making their way inside the mask.
If it's a long day, I often forget I'm wearing it.
Mostly Trivial Pursuit or games like that when it comes to board games. Video games I started playing Apex Legends and PUBG but i've branched out a little more and trying different genres, right now ARPGs like POE and Last Epoch.
Ceramics... mostly wheel-thrown stuff, but I just finished my first sculpture and feeling quite proud.
Also, canning. I get a couple bushels of tomatoes from the farm next door and go to town.
During the pandemic I discovered shibari and it's become a creative outlet that I still enjoy. It's both intricate and calming, allowing me to focus and express myself in a unique way
thank you. it was growing until 2023 february when youtube changes something. since then i have not really been growing at all... but i do have fun so who cares
Not sure if you'd call it a hobby, but I've always loved music, or have for a while. I enjoy listening to a wide range too, from oldies to current pop. I think it was during the pandemic when I purchased my first signed CD through the mail. I've always enjoyed autographs and have quite a few from various signings (authors, sports, etc). I actually got my first one as a surprise from a member of my all time favorite band (The Beach Boys if you can't tell) but during the pandemic I learned a lot of artists were offering purchases online (apparently they did this before, but I didn't know). So through a subreddit for autograph seekers I've bought a number of autographs from musicians, essentially signed CDs (or art cards). I think I have to date, autos from seven different musicians. I figure I enjoy music and like to listen to it, so I'll just spend a few extra dollars for a signed copy or signed merchandise with it. I still get the CD to put on my I-Pad/I-Phone. Sure I miss out on some, but with the huge popularity of it now, there are always new drops (and no, I don't buy everything, just artists I really like). But the random drops daily and weekly...
Secondly, not a real hobby, but I got a dog (never had one before). I do spend a lot of with her, and she's a real joy to have around (ironically, due to the pandemic, I probably wouldn't have had this happen...) Not a hobby, but I do spend time with her daily...
That's so cool! Collecting signed CDs and autographs sounds like a unique and rewarding hobby! I bet each one has its own story and special meaning
And Dogs can bring so much joy and companionship!💓
I "caught" my own sourdough starter in 2020 and she is still thriving, despite periods of neglect that should have been long enough to bring about her demise. I am starting to think this jar of yeast is sentient and may someday take over my home, or the entirety of human civilization. Her nickname is Burp, by the way.
Journaling / documentation. Writing things down like thoughts, short stories, observations etc. I have completed 3 fictional short stories (50-75 pages) and working on a longer story. It’s interesting and somewhat scary to look back at ideas and thoughts I’ve had.

hey it's not weird! I'm a man in my 20s too and knitting is great
there’s nothing weird about enjoying what you love, keep rocking those needles
It's not weird at all, how else are you going to find dresses in your size? I'm sorry, I had to. I think it's great, you can create some beautiful things and meet some cool people with that hobby.
What up my knitter

The important thing is that you’re enjoying it, Every day you practice is progress!💪
Me too! I taught myself how to play completely on my own. My dad did the same when he was younger. Uber eats and old school RuneScape lol. Then at the end of 2021 I’ve had to change my diet and start working out. Lost my belly fat in like 4 months💪🏾
congrats on the workout results, it is always happy to see when we get results from working out! 💪

Reading! I’ve kept it up and still read around 30 books a year since the pandemic, it’s made me so happy
I’m glad to hear that reading has brought you so much happiness. What book should I add to my reading list?
Started reading books during lockdown. They honestly helped me a lot with personal growth and understanding human beings in general.
So true!! Books are like a workout for the mind! It’s very refreshing! Whats that one book that inspired you?
Golf. It’s a great hobby, gets you outside/social, maybe a little competitive, and is great for your [mental health](https://birdiebirdiebogey.com/2024/06/26/golf-tip-mental-health/).

"Leave my food at the door"
Do you ever worry that someone might steal it before you get to it?😂
Nah. Maybe that's a fear in some places, not where I live though... besides, my dogs bark at anyone/anything that gets within a 20 foot radius of my house.
you’ve the perfect protect system! dogs are the best ❤️🔥
Jigsaw puzzles. Always have a puzzle going in addition to my other hobbies.
Super cool!! how many pieces are we talking about? 1,000 or 5,000?😂🫢
Mostly 1000, can easily finish one over the course of a week giving it a bit of time here and there. I’ve done one 2000 and have some 3000 piece in my stash but haven’t gotten up the nerve to tackle one yet.

Laughing at solo drivers with masks on in their cars. Bonus points if it isn’t covering their nose.
