Because I used to know someone from over there that means a lot to me. And it just holds a very special place in my heart.🦘❤️
(And I also used to tell her that one day I'd make it down there).
Competing in Debate tournaments. The topics are real world, but the heat of educated arguing and saying what you need to for the judge is a break from reality. Also everyone comes to these things all are after the same thing and have similar mindsets, plus a nice mental vacay from school and real problems in your life. No parents, no annoying bullies or cliques, just you and your peers being bffs for a weekend.
Also, hotel nights after rounds are the best bc no experience is the same. Just u and some buddies chilling in rooms and pissing around
Work actually, well working with my hands. Like on a Diesel engine when I’m just like why won’t you work, and I’m focused on that. I forget everything else it’s just monkey turn wrench engine goes vroom
At the moment, Jurassic world evolution, that, and sleep, I love sleep cos I have so many cool dreams but I also hate it because they aren’t real and I always wake up lonely again
Membership at a float spa. Complete sensory deprivation in a one person pod with warm water and tons of salt so you float with ease. In complete darkness with spa music, I relax and imagine myself bouncing around in space with zero gravity. Best rest ever and stress relief. This experience is followed by an aroma oxygen bar and hot tea.
Music.
Not any type of music though, metal music, it makes me forget everything bad that’s happening.
(Side note: favourite metal song right now, master of puppets - Metallic, gotta thank stranger things for this one)
I'm pretty sure like the internet, games like vrchat, or having to get a vacation on a weekend that clears 2 weeks, or simply to put it talking with strangers that become your friend over time.
Books. Both reading and writing, which both have their upsides and downsides.
Reading is passive. The story is written for you; you just have to dive in. But it does require a degree of trust in the author, which is scary by itself, but especially so when it's a new-to-you author. I think that's what holds nonreaders back, they've been burned too many times before and are afraid to trust.
Writing is active and you don't have to worry the story will take you somewhere you won't like. But that's scary, too. You are largely alone. Oh you can ask for help, and I encourage it, but the large body of work is entirely on you. For that you have to trust yourself. This is the struggle of people who don't write but also people who do.
Drawing.
I have this giant, messy sketchbook, and a playlist on Spotify of specific songs that just make me dissociate from everything. I just sit on my bed with the worst posture in the world and doodle. I don’t have to think, or even look sometimes and it just flows through me. I’m not artistic, I can’t draw if I sit and try, but with this playlist, a specific sweater and a horrible posture bent over the sketchbook I’ve been able to draw amazing, realistic photos effortlessly.
It honestly makes me loose all feelings, which sounds like it’d be bad but it’s releasing
Longboarding, just being able to listen to music and go anywhere you want, fly down a couple hills maybe just the feeling of being free with nobody else in the world deciding which way you go, just you, the asphalt, the wind, your board, and you. makes me feel like i have some sort of control in my life
I know many people on reddit hate tiktok, but I just love scrolling through videos, most of them are animals and some edits, the edits get me hyped and I'm just gasped at the fact ppl can edit very well, I also use gaming as an escape. i think gaming is like a whole new world that you can literally control.
Shrooms, once in a while, it's just like an awesome dream, and when it's over you are grateful of everything in your life for months, no withdrawals, no downs after those said months
A lot of things. Sometimes it's music, writing, crafting and zoning out, or reading. Specifically really good fantasy or sci-fi books that just transport me out of this dimensions. I swear when vr becomes more advanced that will be my life.
Music and dancing combined. I was a dancer for almost 4yrs and a percussionist for about the same amount of time, it's just the way music and dancing go hand in hand that it's hard to have one without the other. Music has become a major part in helping me understand my thoughts and expressing my emotions in a way that makes sense to me. I hope to some day get back into semi professional dancing, perhaps I'll give ballroom dancing or salsa dancing a try, haven't ever done either of those.
My imagination I have a world I can go places in the town I live in just imagine the place imagine what’s happening then I just fall asleep and dream about what I was thinking.
I’m pretty good with control. Got a whole bottle sitting at home and not taking any honestly in a while, like forgotten the time. But yes I’ve seen the opposite of that and it’s pretty terrible.
