I did actually download it. Played it for like 5 minutes, there was very little in the way of strategy or anything and it kept giving me new "tasks"... Eventually I discovered a "Auto fight" button that would literally play the game for you requiring 0 input from you.... I uninstalled it.
I know people hate the game ((And rightfully so)) but if I'm being honest I can't blame the people who take the sponsorships. I worked in accounting and someone my company did the books for was a youtuber with 2 million+ subs. He got one sponsor for a video from Raid, only had to have an ad in a single digit number of videos, and got paid $50,000.
Per month.
For 6 months.
I have no intention of playing the game, and I dislike the ads as much as anyone else, but I cannot say with a straight face I'd turn down 50 grand a month to add a 30-60 second segment to a video. That's a huge amount of financial security right there for next to nothing on a video.
It's kinda nutty.. If I remember the stats they spent something like $7 per person to advertise on.. Like how much money are people spending on this game?!?!

Anyways, I park on the street in front of my house and every time I leave/come home. 9/10 times he's sitting out there. I just wanna come and go without feeling like someone's watching me. Plus I don't want to make small talk every time I get in/out of my car.
Often times it's like a block party with like 4-5 other neighbors sitting out there with him and they all just watch me get out and unload my car lol... (I've lived here for years and I know them all so it's not weird, but weird yah feel)

At a past job, I went to an in-office gender reveal. The whole thing was weird because both parents worked in the office. They had an affair in Vegas, got pregnant, and subsequently left their respective SOs.
Fast forward to the gender reveal hosted by one of their coworkers. It was supposed to be outdoors but it rained that day. We had the party in a conference room. For the reveal, the host threw a baseball on the ground filled with pink powder…..in the conference room. One dude got his slacks completely pink. So we're watching the show, it's a great time, we're all having a laugh, Bill Murray is singing and decides to carry on the act down and through the aisles. Everyone he walked by was respectful of him and the show and just watched and cheered as he passed by. But not K, she got up out of her God damn seat as he got close, so she could, I still don't know what, hug him? Get close to him? Well he quite literally 360 spun and dodged around her ass and kept walking and singing without missing a note and it was both the cringiest, and most incredible thing I've ever seen. She sat back down devastated. After that, I told my sister I'll never go to another public outing with her again. It's okay to like an actor for their work, but to like them so much you act like that when you see them? Nah man, not for me.

I have no interest in typical ocean cruises, and our neighbors' descriptions of bingo and the casinos and pools confirm that I would hate it. But we went on a Viking river cruise and loved every minute. No one under 16, no pool, no casinos or games. Small ships and fantastic activities in each port. I did a 25-mile bike ride through the Black Forest and a foodie walking tour of Strasbourg. Hope we can afford to do it again one day.
Yup. My wife is someone who likes to tour intensively. I like to have more relaxed vacations. A Viking cruise was the perfect compromise. It was a moving hotel where we woke up every day in a new town to explore, without having to pack our bags or worry about a car. Meals were there on the boat if we wanted them, or we could do as we pleased in the towns.
We did this cruise in our mid 30s and were, by far, the youngest people there not traveling with a retired parent. (Other lines apparently draw a slightly younger crowd.) We learned quickly to just ignore the included tours and go and do our own thing.
We have a 5 yo now and can't wait to try it again in a couple years when she'll be old enough.

Yeah, the morgue is definitely required. A lot of cruise ship passengers are the elderly because it's not a strenuous holiday for them to go on. I've been on three cruises in my life and on two of them, we had people die. One person died in the pool, I assume they drowned after experiencing health complications so we had to wait in the port because they had to transfer the body to the country we were docked in so that they could be sent back to their home country. They had to close the pool for a few days to deep clean it.
I've also been on a plane when someone passed away mid-flight. I remember the person's crying wife being escorted off first after we landed and then the passenger being wheeled off, covered in a sheet. It was kind of surreal.

Personally it's not even limited to those types of "celebrities" to me. I have a hard time relating to any type of celebrity worship. I don't get the desire to be super close to them and I don't get the desire to know about their personal lives. I was at the Venice airport in the early 2000s when Robert De Niro walked through. Now listen I love a lot of his movies. Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Casino, Goodfellas etc... But the buddy I was with literally had a meltdown when he saw him because I didn't want to approach him and ask for an autograph. He went alone and to be honest I was fuckin embarrassed for him. He came back oblivious to how awkward he had made it. You could tell De Niro was annoyed, but trying to be super nice. Anyways yeah, I don't get celebrity worship.
I lived in LA for a short period with a buddy of mine. When we got out there we went to see some stand up and outside of the club was Vince Vaughn. I went to go see one of Bill Murray's live shows in Portland with my sister and her friend. Well her friend, we can call her K, is an obnoxious die hard fan of his (has a tattoo and everything). So we're watching the show, it's a great time, we're all having a laugh, Bill Murray is singing and decides to carry on the act down and through the aisles. Everyone he walked by was respectful of him and the show and just watched and cheered as he passed by. But not K, she got up out of her God damn seat as he got close, so she could, I still don't know what, hug him? Get close to him? Well he quite literally 360 spun and dodged around her ass and kept walking and singing without missing a note and it was both the cringiest, and most incredible thing I've ever seen. She sat back down devastated. After that, I told my sister I'll never go to another public outing with her again. It's okay to like an actor for their work, but to like them so much you act like that when you see them? Nah man, not for me.

I know most people joke about it but about 3 months ago I was able to take about a week off from work and this feeling came over me after I actually started enjoying my time off. I had a 10-day vacation over the July 4th holiday, I think the longest I've had in close to 20 years. Toward the end I found myself not being sure what day of the week it was, and not really caring that I didn't know. The first day back to work was rough.
Just had a week vacation. Tomorrow is first day back. Been dreading all week. Part of why I don't take many vacations is I hate so much when they end and knowing there is nothing to look forward to anymore.

This is what got me so much during COVID: “People don’t want to work anymore.” I never wanted to work? At least in the sense people use the word. Going on a cruise.
I have no interest in typical ocean cruises, and our neighbors' descriptions of bingo and the casinos and pools confirm that I would hate it. But we went on a Viking river cruise and loved every minute. No one under 16, no pool, no casinos or games. Small ships and fantastic activities in each port. I did a 25-mile bike ride through the Black Forest and a foodie walking tour of Strasbourg. Hope we can afford to do it again one day.
Yup. My wife is someone who likes to tour intensively. I like to have more relaxed vacations. A Viking cruise was the perfect compromise. It was a moving hotel where we woke up every day in a new town to explore, without having to pack our bags or worry about a car. Meals were there on the boat if we wanted them, or we could do as we pleased in the towns. We did this cruise in our mid 30s and were, by far, the youngest people there not traveling with a retired parent. (Other lines apparently draw a slightly younger crowd.) We learned quickly to just ignore the included tours and go and do our own thing. We have a 5 yo now and can't wait to try it again in a couple years when she'll be old enough. EDIT: The prices can be a bit high. If you're interested, sign up for their email list. You'll get notifications about 2-for-1 deals, free airfare, etc, which brings down the cost by a considerable amount. As for the included tours, there will be a few that you have to do through them to see the thing (string quartet in Vienna, bus ride to a windmill museum outside of Amsterdam, etc). For the regular town tours, it's best to just research ahead what you want to see and go off yourself. The tours are scheduled around the walking pace and endurance of an 80yo.

well, i’m glad you said this. i have a strange fear of the ocean so i randomly got very into researching cruises. not sure why. but good thing i did because i’m prepared for any conversation regarding cruise ships just some stuff i found out accidentally: apparently most cruise ships have a morgue in them. it makes good sense why one could be necessary but i just never thought about it most cruise ships have sensors that can detect when someone goes overboard based on the impact of them hitting the water. i found this comforting but also scary. still not sure when cruise ships get retired/can’t be used anymore, they go to a grave yard where they get taken apart. i believe there’s one in turkey. it’s considered a highly dangerous job

Many years ago I talked to someone working for a cruise line, and he told the story of how the ship staff made the mistake of taking down the head waiter's picture in the hallway. If they had just left it up, probably everyone would have thought they had just missed him whenever they ate. In fact, he had died. They had to serve a bunch of cakes and put him in the freezer.
Yeah, the morgue is definitely required. A lot of cruise ship passengers are the elderly because it's not a strenuous holiday for them to go on. I've been on three cruises in my life and on two of them, we had people die. One person died in the pool, I assume they drowned after experiencing health complications so we had to wait in the port because they had to transfer the body to the country we were docked in so that they could be sent back to their home country. They had to close the pool for a few days to deep clean it. I've also been on a plane when someone passed away mid-flight. I remember the person's crying wife being escorted off first after we landed and then the passenger being wheeled off, covered in a sheet. It was kind of surreal.
