I'm the 2000s I was active in a church group in college and we did some weekends and days working on some habitat for humanity houses. 900 sq ft little rectangle homes. I had experience doing doors and windows and did those. We helped build these 3 little homes and they were about 2 blocks from a community center that helped manage them. They were basic but had good workmanship even as they were volunteer built.
About a year after one was completed, it was destroyed by the homeless people that it was housing. Basically they broke a faucet and the bathroom leaked. The water rotted the bathroom and bedroom so they moved their beds to the living room. When the water destroyed the living room they moved their beds to the kitchen. When the water damage go there, they went back on the street. They had a phone, lists of numbers to call for help and the community center just 2 blocks away and they never called for help - they just destroyed the home.
They addressed the _housing_ aspect but didn't address the drug use and mental illness.

What I’m saying is I get that people are trans but maybe sometimes it’s body dysmorphia that requires treatment for mental health. I have some dissonance about this one and I’ve been crucified for saying this before so please bear with me…Let me preface this by saying that I consider myself an LGBTQ+ ally. I am concerned that sometimes with the best intentions, trans surgeries go ahead too quickly without adequate time or mental health support. Particularly with kids, from what little experience I have knowing kids growing up feeling unaccepted the way they are and losing their sense of identity, it seems sometimes that in looking for answers some land on identifying as Trans when really they’re not. I know puberty blockers are now an option but they come with risks to bone health, growth, metabolism and plenty of other issues that come with inhibiting and altering someone’s hormonal profile. What I’m saying is I get that people are trans but maybe sometimes it’s body dysmorphia that requires treatment for mental health. I think we should aim to rule that out before irreversibly changing someone’s genitals.

I don’t know if it’s controversial, but I remember when I was taking some private english lessons in a school, and the teacher was asking some general questions. I think it was about emotional intelligence (it was a chapter in the book). The recent experience of my wife going through pregnancy and then is having a newborn has taught me that feminism as a philosophy is only possible because of modern science and luxuries. Think about the world for women before baby formula and birth control, assuming they have sexual partners: -Menstruating for 1/4 of the time. For some women who can’t take medication, the pain and bleeding is debilitating. -Once pregnant, you’re sick for a few months and unable to do many kinds of manual labor -labor and delivery. If it doesn’t kill you, it tears you and you’re now laid up while your body repairs. -breastfeeding. A baby is on your chest for most of the day and night for at least six months. -you’re probably pregnant again by the time you wean your first baby. Thank God for modern advancements in family planning, feminine health, and baby care. But I’m not wrong to suggest that societies tending to relegate women to the home where they stay pregnant and breastfeeding/child rearing wasn’t just an arbitrary decision made by men. The biological functions that go into reproduction and childcare fall almost entirely on women, and it’s all-consuming without modern interventions.
