It's my grandma's 100th birthday! She's a sweet little English lady who came here in 1945 after marrying my grandpa, a US army soldier who was stationed in her town. Biiiiig party tonight!
Thank you! She doesn't look a day over 90 š for real though she still gets manicures, dyes her hair, and is sharp as hell. I can only hope those genes work in my favor!
Wait till they start trying to save you from cancelling lol. They were trying to charge me $170 a month and progressive offered the same exact coverage for $89. I worked in underwriting myself at the time so I replied back āthereās no way youāll be able to even come closeā
And they still try to get my business back š should be especially funny now that their credit got downgraded yesterday
That is so weird! We just switched from Progressive to State Farm because Progressive decided they didn't want us as customers after 20 years. They literally doubled our premium and couldn't (wouldn't) tell us why. State Farm's premium was the equivalent of our old Progressive premium. So, we switched.
I had a USPS package that sat at the Palmetto distribution center for only like 12 hours before it left to make its way to my post office. It must be some kind of miracle.
I had one that went back and forth between my local station and Palmetto like 3 times before they decided to go ahead and drive it the 3/4 mile down the road to my house.
Random question is there any parks in the atlanta area that have chess board tables like they do in NYC? I have my dad visiting this weekend and we both love to play chess.
Brownwood Park in EAV has pretty new chess tables- I think there's two or three. They're in the middle of tearing down their playground to build a new one, so it's not the most picturesque, but the chess tables are nice.
So my work started this commit to fit thing where you can get paid to go to the gym during work hours. The gym here isn't the best but it does feel good to move a bit during the week. Been working on my triceps this week. They sore.
I get that, but I wouldn't consider a Chevy Suburban to be a "limousine" ... seems to be a quirk in the licensing requirements for those vehicles in order to get airport access, based on what the other commenter was saying
They don't make Lincoln Town Cars anymore, and haven't for over a decade. Even the Continental and Cadillac CT6 were dropped 5 years ago.
Most car services won't spring for a Mercedes S, to say nothing of a Bentley or Rolls. And a Tahoe has more passenger room anyway. They're big, fitted with leather seats and have the softer suspension package so they're about as comfortable as any Lincoln ever was.
So if you're running a car service, you use a Tahoe, Suburban, or Escalade, and a lot of business types prefer the lower-key look of the Tahoe/Suburban to the Escalade.
My hangup actually wasn't that a Chevy isn't nice enough to be a limousine. Perhaps this is embarrassingly ignorant of me, but I actually thought that the term limousine just referred to *stretch* limousines. I didn't realize that anything with a partitioned passenger compartment was a limousine.
ATL. They provide car/limo service to the airport and surrounding areas in Atlanta. I bet most of the ones you see have the little square ATL airport tag. That allows them access to shuttle/taxi ground transportation to pick up passengers.
you would think with the mail delay people would use alternate delivery services. but nope, my small hometown bank decided to mail my replacement debit card through usps. pikachu face when i call them today saying i still havenāt gotten it. now i have to go get cash to use until like next weekend. the worst part: iām going out of town next week. š
No problem! I don't use my debit card all that often, so I'm not sure if it works the same way. But with my credit card, Google Pay is attached to my account and not just my card number; so when I ever need to replace my card (lost, numbers get compromised, etc), I can still use tap-to-pay even though the card/number is getting replaced. It's saved my bacon once or twice.
I get my taxes done tomorrow so of course I delayed until tonight to get all my documents in order. Why do I do this to myself every time? At least I still have a while until the actual deadline so if I have anything I need to get done after my appointment I can send it later on.
Thanks for the suggestion! I have complicated taxes this year for several reasons as well as having to file a deceased family memberās taxes so this year Iām going with a CPA so next year I can do the free version.
Iām coming to Atlanta for a concert at The Eastern. If possible, Iād like to avoid the Dairies parking deck next to the venue. I donāt have an issue with paying for parking but the deckās event prices are pretty ridiculous. I was looking at an area map and see thereās a nearby lot at Madison Yards but couldnāt find anything about their pricing.
I know private parking companies can be like vultures in Atlanta. I just want to be a little more knowledgeable of the area and appreciate any insight anyone can offer. Thanks.
[Went to the soft reopening of Hawker's on the Beltline last night.](https://i.imgur.com/SJ59UGN.png) The renovations are sorta noticeable ([massive HVAC ductwork](https://i.imgur.com/LqcMC0W.png)) but they decorated around it so it fits the vibe. Food was great, the staff seemes to be ultra on-the-ball due to the past perceptions, but overall I'm glad I get to walk past the 'Great Value brand Buford Highway' again when meandering down the Beltline.
Shit service and sometimes shit/86'd perpetual items, plus the general snooty *iTs a ChaIn ItS noT aUThEntIc gEt ReaL aSIaN fOoD* attitudes from dumbasses sipping on Dunkin Donuts Frappuccinos.
Edit: the vast majority of the food is great. Yes, you can get [insert dish here] somewhere else for cheaper, but I'm not somewhere else, I'm on the Beltline. It's the same energy as making fun of someone going to a brewery when the gas station has Busch Lite tallboys for $2.
Is, I ordered some new appliances because mine are old, broke, and there was a sale.
It's been... 11 days since I placed the order. Monday will be the third delivery attempt for the washer/dryer, and I JUST got the dishwasher scheduled for delivery and installation next week.
I know I've been spoiled by Amazon and next-day delivery and stuff, but... I was hoping to have things done already...

Happy 100th Birthday to your grandmother! What an incredible milestone!
Thank you! She doesn't look a day over 90 š for real though she still gets manicures, dyes her hair, and is sharp as hell. I can only hope those genes work in my favor!
Happy birthday to her!!!!

Wow, insurance companies are still groveling? I dropped GEICO last year after 12 years and they were like "ok, bye"
Oh yeah. They even emailed me again last year asking if they could try and win my business back and I was like please donāt ever email me again lmao

Iām scared of what the pollen count will be today. Yesterday was brutal. Could not stop sneezing on my way home!
I was taking to my partner on the phone yesterday and he said my sneezes were scary lol.
I had a USPS package that sat at the Palmetto distribution center for only like 12 hours before it left to make its way to my post office. It must be some kind of miracle.
You did it. You jinxed it. Now it's gonna update and say undeliverable and get lost.
I had one that went back and forth between my local station and Palmetto like 3 times before they decided to go ahead and drive it the 3/4 mile down the road to my house.
Don't jinx things!
Mine got stuck at Palmetto for quite some time yesterday too.
It must have been light and floated on top of the other mass of packages.
Random question is there any parks in the atlanta area that have chess board tables like they do in NYC? I have my dad visiting this weekend and we both love to play chess.
Atlanta's parks are somewhat lacking in amenities
Would love to know as well
There is a BIG CHESS set at Atlantic Station, like a 8' x 8' grid. It's not often in use. May not fit the vibe you're going for though.
Yeah i think Iāve seen it but not my kinda vibe tbh
I think Muchacho has chess mornings

Does anyone know why there are there so many SUVs with "limousine" license plates in ATL?
We have one of the biggest airports so lots of people traveling to/from the airport and around the city for business, leisure, etc.
I get that, but I wouldn't consider a Chevy Suburban to be a "limousine" ... seems to be a quirk in the licensing requirements for those vehicles in order to get airport access, based on what the other commenter was saying

Understandable! Even stretch limos have basically been replaced by "party busses."

Is there any chance you can hook up your bank account/debit card number through Apple Pay or Google Wallet? Tap-to-pay might be an option for you.
thatās actually a really smart idea. i already took out cash but i just did that as well. thanks!

If youāre paying for this appointment, I recommend using FreeTaxUSA, itās easy-to-understand and guided you through step by step.
Thanks for the suggestion! I have complicated taxes this year for several reasons as well as having to file a deceased family memberās taxes so this year Iām going with a CPA so next year I can do the free version.
Ah Iām so sorry for your loss; filing your loved oneās taxes canāt be easy. I hope it goes well tomorrow!

Madison Yards parking is free. Can just park under the Publix or wherever and walk over.
You can park on a side street over by Grindhouse for free if youāre ok with a 5 minute walk in.
This is the answer. Free parking on the street in the surrounding neighborhoods.
Park up on Chester Ave and walk over
Can anyone recommend an Audi repair shop in the metro area? Specifically looking for Audi specialists not just a German shop.
Is there anything fun or exciting going on this weekend? Atl nightlife has been meh since Covid19, what are the new cool spots for going out??
Anyone know what theyāre (finally) building next to Tuza on Howell Mill?
Where can I get a good cowboy hat?
Plaza Fiesta! There's this extremely large western goods store that has the most incredible inventory I've ever seen.

It was REALLY good before they closed. One of my favorite spots to bring friends for a night out.

Is Edgewood still the move for people looking to go out for party vibes? EAV is good but a little sketch lately, but so is Edgewood I feel
Edgewood is way sketchier than EAV lol. But yes, generally still a fun place to party
edgewood is dead by standards of what it used to be.
