It never hurts to do a carbon clean and install an oil catch can if you can. Considering you have an SQ5 I’d look at getting a downpipe, intercooler, intake and tune. You wanna make sure the engine can breathe and exhaust as efficiently as possible
Make sure all the maintenance is up to date and fix any issues. Then clean it. You can also get a headlight restoration kit, makes it look so much better
maintenance wise goes ok for now as I purchased it from a friend and well his work / job is working on and maintaining cars , this was his basically beater and I bought it from him , and well I know it runs ok at least AC and Sunroof work as well surprisingly
Looks over safety. Got it. Unfortunately you don’t seem to realize it’s not about YOUR safety. You sound like a 16 year old who only cares about themselves and what stuff looks like. You’ll learn 🤷🏻♂️
That car is a tank reliability wise, too bad it's not Quattro, but it's still a nice car. Like others said, get it mechanically sound, do stage 1, then focus on the exterior, especially those fogged headlights (for your safety)
“That car is a tank reliability wise” this a good or bad reference in your case and context I can’t seem to make the distinction in your response and no unfortunately it isn’t a Quattro , I’ve read up a lot on the good Quattro does :( , sadly just a regular 2.0 CVT A4
Appreciate the kindness for now I’m still doing some online looking and “in head sketches” of what I may do to the car , just got it ,couple weeks ago , taking it slower then usual tbh
I had the same base model A4 and [I swapped new euro headlights the interior for RS4 and S4 custom grill bumpers and mirrors DTM side skirts S6 wheels](https://www.reddit.com/r/Audi/s/AThY5KFFIm) and [R8 steering wheel and a couple of iPads for CarPlay and airlift air suspension ](https://www.reddit.com/r/Audi/s/lauban8ybQ)
—-Mechanically wise
-check for timing belt service. Even if it has low miles and hasn’t been done still do it. Timing belt wears out with age. Ask your fiend.
-look into high pressure fuel pump cam follower. Easy to replace but very important.
-carbon clean the intake valves if you have time. Not super essential.
-save time and money for future control arm repairs.
—-Auto body
-this is a non s line model. Any grill from eBay or Amazon should fit fine.
Yes the timing chain in the back is something not really in the maintenance schedule. It’s tough to get at but definitely need to be looked at if it rattles at start up
You know this I am not 100 percent sure on , I do know for a fact it’s 2005 2.0 CVT FWD A4 that I think are the only specifics and the Tdi or Tsi I don’t know
I think this year is one of the 2.0tsi that has timing chain issues so probably good to check if that’s the engine and get the updated timing chain, tensioner and guides. This is the big issue that could cause complete engine destruction at any point and without warning on a car this age.
Noted , I can add some more pictures if anybody would like to see more of the car and or details that may tell us more about the car but from the information presented to me that’s all I know , anyway for 2k a beater that isn’t exactly horrible looking taste in my eyes is a good price to pay , in fact I lowkey like the look so many new and smooth models that I miss the mechanical car feeling of that makes any sense ,well will tell how far it will serve
Doing a wrap is something I always believe allows you to really personalize any car especially a used one. Pick a color you love and it’ll make you happy every time you look at it and if they do it properly it will de-age the car incredibly.
Agreed was gonna tint the windows , change headlights , and fog lights and grille , wrap it and possible even sell it back for 6-7-8k , granted I have a mechanical buddy of mine check the engine which he has personally been working on the car and maybe even run it through Audi once and see what comes up then sell it back
First fix anything wrong and do standard maintenance. Then do headlights/tail lights, grill, badging, wheels, then wrap in that order. If your not able to do that a simple headlight restore and rs style grill goes a long way
Save your money for the maintenance you’re going to need to do. These aren’t good cars on a budget (not assuming you are on one but making statement) I had a 2006 Quattro and it was hell. I know this is FWD so it may be a bit less so
You need to check your cam follower for the HPFP ASAP. Their not a common failure point, but their a major one when it gets bad.
Look up a DIY, it’s not extremely difficult or time consuming, just a small PITA. But if it’s worn down you need to replace it ASAP.
As for the other stuff, get a stage 1 tune, and get after market suspensions and nice wheels. That’s all you really need to have, fundamentally.
Plenty of stuff you can also tack on if you have money to burn. Theirs other trim options for the interior, like real carbon fiber, or get it wrapped. Tint the windows, 18z brake caliper upgrade, hex front grill etc.
Have fun, their a bitch to work on but man the payoffs worth it
Make sure the cam follower is not shot in the high pressure fuel pump, I would check that first. Give the front end a look over and make sure that the upper and lower control arms are not worn out or clicking over bumps get a carb cleaning done on it and make sure the timing belt is up to date every 100K miles or so
If you were going to be doing your own maintenance. I would highly recommend buying a vcds scanner or something simpler like obdeleven that connects to your phone.

If you want it to just look nicer I would do new headlights and get that missing piece for your grill and maybe some tint. As far as performance mods go I wouldn’t worry about a stage one tune if you know you want to go further than that. I would just do supporting hardware like an intake exhaust maybe an intercooler and then do a stage 2 tune.
First, do any mechanical maintenance. Then get a carbon clean and stage 1. Then focus on the exterior.
Would you recommend the same on a 16 SQ5? Motor mounts, timing, and head and valve cover gaskets have already been done.

Thanks!!

Clear headlights will go a long way
Was gonna go for Dark ones tbh , turn it from a fishbowl to a nice tint , basically same as sunroof tint
I’m gonna go out on a limb and say tinting headlights is the dumbest shit ever.
I thought they’d look cool dunno 😀
I mean yah it might look cool, but so does having no seatbelt on.
lol I live in south fl so I’m not worried about safety more then looks when it comes to certain things like that
Ok man when someone crashes into you from not being able to see you, make sure you apologize. Are you like 16 years old?
It’s very bright here , sometimes even at night , and it’s used as a daily during the day mainly driver , so looks are pretty important
Looks over safety. Got it. Unfortunately you don’t seem to realize it’s not about YOUR safety. You sound like a 16 year old who only cares about themselves and what stuff looks like. You’ll learn 🤷🏻♂️
29 and I do care about my looks ultimately it’s my preference to care about my looks 🙏

If it’s a CVT get gearbox service done asap!
It is and will keep it noted!
I meant that in a very good way don't worry 👍🏻
Appreciate that then !! lol
New grille
Grille is cracked in various places , agreed it needs replacing !
Filler plate for the grille, and I might have one laying around if you want it, just cover shipping. Nice wheels btw!
Appreciate the kindness for now I’m still doing some online looking and “in head sketches” of what I may do to the car , just got it ,couple weeks ago , taking it slower then usual tbh
No probs! If looking for a filler plate or license plate holder, make sure you get a non s-line one, S/s-line ones won’t fit that bumper

Ok is it just a reprogram for the R8 wheel swap? It looks awesome
no reprogram need just plug and play
Holy sheet I just check it out , bro your car is 🔥🔥😮💨😮💨 like the grille , and the skirts omg really nice and interior is cleann !!
Thank you 😎

Timing belt and timing chain
Yes the timing chain in the back is something not really in the maintenance schedule. It’s tough to get at but definitely need to be looked at if it rattles at start up
That stupid E socket bolt on the exhaust cam is a pita, completely stripped out when I tried to do it
Damn brother that's the worst :(
2.0tsi or tdi?

That's the next gen engine in 09 this one is timing belt

This car will last you, I have an 06 A4 2.0t manual and it just rolled 208k miles

All the fluids and maintenance except what your 100% sure is not needed.

Clutch link 🔗 tyvm , will come in handy for sure !!!
Treat the light plastic so it doesn’t look cloudy.
Make it shine!
