Yeah it's super common. My family's one was named after a dumb saying between my mum and her coworkers (they're accountants).
I've heard of one called "the Viagra fund".
Might even brighten someone’s day a couple times, my only advice would be to keep it on the shorter side and easily spelt, otherwise the charm wears off after a while.
The super fund name doesn't even need to be unique, but the company name does.
I've recently seen No Wucken Furries Super Fund. I was surprised it got passed.
ASIC has a page where they run through what is allowed and what is not
https://asic.gov.au/for-business/registering-a-company/steps-to-register-a-company/company-name-availability/restricted-words-in-company-and-body-corporate-names/
I am not aware of a similar page from ATO for super fund and trusts, but I'm sure there is some restrictions. For example, I doubt they would allow you to register Australian Super Fund, since it's the name of an industry super fund.
I have worked in SMSFs for 20 years and I have not seen a name rejected, but mainly because we warn people to not get too silly with the names, as it could lead to a delay in the set up and extra legal fees.
Call it "test fund, please ignore". Just to mess with ASIC.
“Drop Database Superannuation Fund”
["Little Bobby Tables"](https://xkcd.com/327/)
the name of "help I'm trapped in a driver's license factory Elain Roberts'" super fund.
The mittani sends his regards
Yes. Some of the names I’ve seen are really clever or funny. Some totally boring. Give it a good name - brighten the accountant’s day.
I love seeing creative names for trusts, companies and SMSFs. Nothing worse than "Jones Super Fund" or "Brown Family Trust".
Or when people use the 'ACN123456789 Pty Ltd' in place of a name
Just pls don't use a boring corporate trustee too. Nothing worse than Smith Family Superfund Pty Ltd ATF Smith Family Superfund
A&B Smith Superannuation Fund.
Trustee Paperwork Whats That Pty Ltd Unlimited Pity Pty Ltd 30k Taxable Income Yeah Boi Pty Ltd Payless Land Tax Pty Ltd Used Condom Pills 2 U Pty Ltd
Haven't laughed that much in a long time. Is this actually true? >30k Taxable Income Yeah Boi Pty Ltd
Lol nah just thought up a bunch of cheeky names if I ever had an SMSF
I had two companies. The second was called "The Other One Pty Ltd" Do what you like. No one will care.
Call it “The Banana Stand”
There's always money in the banana stand.
Yes arrested development reference.
Yeah it's super common. My family's one was named after a dumb saying between my mum and her coworkers (they're accountants). I've heard of one called "the Viagra fund".
Yes. My discretionary trust is legally known as something absolutely ridiculous. No consequences (so far) apart from amusing my accountants.
Yes you can call it whatever you like. I have a client who likes to name their companies after a colour and an animal so not dissimilar to your idea.
Haha pink flamingo anyone?
Blue oyster.
Blue Waffle
I saw one that my boss thought was a joke or a pisstake, just turned out to be the family's surname....
The ‘ol Ernest Wanke
Might even brighten someone’s day a couple times, my only advice would be to keep it on the shorter side and easily spelt, otherwise the charm wears off after a while.
I named my super fund after one of my gaming clans from 20 years ago.
Haha nice. What game? I assume back in the Cogs/ GA days?
How about ); drop table tblSuperfunds; commit all;

And possibly unwanted AT0 scrutiny if the name takes the piss too much
Sorry but “big green dildo superfund” is already taken.
There is a Super Duper Super Fund out there. According to AusTender, Defence bought spaceships from them.
MoMethMoMoney Pty Ltd or whatever
Bin Laden superfund
Some Motherf*ckers Slush Fund ®©™
I’ve seen some corkers in my time. I’m pretty sure as long as it doesn’t have a swear word in it or anything too obscene, it’s fine.
I was toying with non compliant SMSF. I also wanted to call my family trust “got no”. I abandoned both as not the greatest ideas
