Asking about quotes is reserved for Mondays only otherwise the Sub is flooded with “is this quote ok” posts. Also get three quotes then come and ask questions. You can’t get an idea of a reasonable price until you have multiple quotes.

DeadCatBounce00

Who did you go with? Ive got to do the same soon and that quote sounds pretty reasonable

Nervous_Yellow_342

“Set up string line” fuck me why would you include that in a quote 😂. But yes that does sound pretty excessive for 10m of box gutter replacement, not a whole lot in material and sounds like it could be easily done in a day.

DatChippy

This quote was most likely generated in estimating software that adds those details to the quote.

henryyrnehhenry

And it’s just square line gutters which is an external gutter fixed to a fascia, not a normal box gutter… Extremely expensive for what they have quoted. Definitely taking the piss and OP get someone else.

Apprehensive_Can_503

Yeah I did think that was a little weird. There is two sections of gutter, approx 10m each. But only needs to remove one. Nearly fell over when I saw the price still.

Chance_Cup_7910

Squareline is square shaped so sort of box shaped, but in no way squareline is to be used as a box gutter.. In sydney that's way overpriced for a basic gutter

Noragen

I’m trying to work this out myself. Is it actually just eves gutter or what?

Existing-Seesaw2653

Yeah seems like a lot we are in vic and getting our roof fully re sheeted, new gutters and new fascia, approx 36sq under roof and it’s come in at around 35k

Living_Scientist_663

That’s expensive

Existing-Seesaw2653

I thought it was pretty reasonable, how much would you have estimated

Living_Scientist_663

Under 30

Prozak06

Get a second price maybe?

Anderook

10m, that's $873/m, that's a fuckin joke, tell him to go jump.

Apprehensive_Can_503

Edit: thanks for any input. Thinking I should just give it a go myself for this price.

DatChippy

No.

Professional_Bar1472

You should get two other quotes. They can vary wildly.

spodenki

Best answer. See you next week for ... Got a quote for 30K for water damage to my property after thinking I could do my box gutter myself. Is 30K reasonable? A week after, did the Reno myself for around 28K, happy with savings.

Anderook

It's pretty easy to install gutter if you have DIY experience.

Measton42

That’s a rip off. This sub should ban posts asking for feedback on a single quote. Seriously put in the 30 minutes effort required to get a few quotes, you’ll learn a bunch from just hearing when different people talk about during the process, then use that info and hopefully your internal BS meter to make a decision. Also not posting a photo of the work area doesn’t do anyone favours. The job could be on a bloody cliff face or it could be single story. How are we to know?

Apprehensive_Can_503

Thanks for the time to post and apologies for the lack of extra info. I am awaiting other tradies to come quote was just blown away by the $$. Btw not on a cliff face (flat large north Brisbane property) however does have a patio attached which is mentioned.

Measton42

So the gutter is above a patio with transparent roofing i assume? This is why I’m saying for people to post pictures. 10m of gutter on a non complex job should be well under $2000

Nasigoring

Maybe you need a break from reddit mate. Go touch some grass. People are here asking because their BS meter went off, because it didn't sound right. Because they don't know the answer to the questions or the even the questions sometimes. Go somewhere else.

Measton42

Every thread is the same advise to get 3 out quotes. Put some effort into it and post more details, just a copy of a quote with no photos, no decent description.

Slaying_Spirit

Pretty much looks like they don't want to take small jobs. Most time consuming and expensive part is the scaffolding. I'd get 2 x more quotes

Measton42

No part of that quote says scaffolding. It says “safe work practices” if they’re not defining what they’re doing it means they’re going to do it off a ladder probably.

Slaying_Spirit

Agreed! Also not sure about residential QLD but in Vic this would require a Working at heights permit. Given the price, if scaffolding isn't involved, it's way too high.

Adam8418

Not sure about guttering, but I got my whole roof re-sheeted with colorbond and a 4m length of guttering replaced for $17k The guttering took the least amount of time and it included new droppers for down-pipe also.

rainyday1860

That is insane for 10m of guttering. Honestly the materials are probably about $1000 and it isn't a hard thing to do by yourself.

bren453

Roof plumber here in Melb material $250 max

rainyday1860

There you go. I was way over estimating it

brocko678

That’s a fucking joke mate he’s taken you to the absolute cleaners. I don’t even think roof plumbers would get paid that much to do gutters and sheets on a whole house

DealPsychological621

Not yet he hasn’t…

brocko678

Think I knew roof sheeters being paid $8 per square metre of roof sheets during recent boom $2k for a standard 250sqm roof and a team of 2-3 could do that in a day.

trainzkid88

thats expensive labour. is it a 2 storey house? which would need scaffolding(that could explain the price) the material its self isnt all that expensive, squareline gutter is only about 14 bucks a meter. so only a couple of grand of materials. seriously compare to other quotes. and by the way thats not a itemised quote, a proper itemised quote lists materials price, equipment hire(if any), labour charge and the expected hrs of labour, any fees for council etc,sub total, the gst and the total amount.

Apprehensive_Can_503

Only single story. Crazy

trainzkid88

then yes that a i dont want the job price.

mcstabby_stabby

Got quoted 8.5k for my house. 68m of gutters

Illustrious-Pin-14

Roofers have got to be up there with the most take the piss quotes. This should be like a $1.5 - 2k job max if it's a straight 10m box gutter on ground level.
